PSXE Poll Update: Final Fantasy VII Is Indeed Legendary

Okay, we could've predicted who the winner would be, but hey, it only proves that Final Fantasy VII's impact on the gaming world was not only profound, but also lasting.

Our readers have selected FFVII as their favorite in the long-running and critically acclaimed role-playing franchise, which shouldn't come as any surprise. It hit the original PlayStation in 1997 like a ton of bricks and since then, it has gained a Godlike image amongst many gamers worldwide. Compared to the previous installment - Final Fantasy VI for the Super Nintendo - it was an amazing leap forward in terms of both visuals and gameplay, and the overall vision left tears in the eyes of the fans. There are millions upon millions of FF fans out there, but many will point towards FFVII as being the most memorable entry of the series. Cloud, Tifa, Aeris...we all know these names, and that includes those who have never played the game (and shame on you if you haven't). We also find it interesting that Final Fantasy X nailed down second place, and Final Fantasy Tactics and Final Fantasy IX tied.

So now we move on to the next "Favorite" poll, and it's relevant for the time: what's your favorite Resident Evil? We find it unlikely that this one will feature a runaway victor, unless a lot of old-schoolers weigh in with their expected pick of Resident Evil 2. Well, let's find out; get to voting!

changed the way of gaming! FFVII lets you explore the world on your own instead of telling someone where to go like on X. more freedom!

and fighting and magic style were awesome!

Cloud and Sephiroth are the true faces of games

FFVII is a great game, heck, I love the spin-off games too! Dirge of Ceberus (spelling?) and Crisis Core are great games.

Now, for Resident Evil games? I'm gonna have to go with Dead Aim! It had the most fluid controls IMO

Ben, you said Tactics tied with IX. Was that a tie for 3rd place? When I voted (for Tactics, obviously) the only thing Tactics was ahead of was X-2...

EDIT: Any way you can just put the final tally in the article next time?

honestly, other than the fact that FFVII is the first 3D epic scale RPG and it lead the revolution of the RPG world, I do not think FFVII is that fun or graphically beautiful. FFVIII,IX and X are better in that sense.

If we say FF7 is the greatest FF, it is because it is the first 3D RPG and it sets the trend and direction of all 3D RPGs and it introduced a new looking of RPG gaming. Other than that, I dont find FF7 is that intriging. Chrono Trigger is way better in story and pure RPG elements -- nothing is more "RPG" than Chrono Trigger in my opinion.
