Metal Gear Solid 4 Gets Platinum Treatment Next Month

It was really only a matter of time, and it should serve to bring the game back into the limelight for a little while longer.

According to Console Monster, Konami has announced today that the Platinum edition of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots will release next month. As far as we can tell, they only have European details at this point, but we're certain the budget MGS4 will make its way to store shelves around the world. For Euro gamers, you can expect to see a freshly packaged MGS4 retail for 29.95 Euros, and U.S. residents will probably see a similar price tag. Most of you have already played it of course, but if for some very strange reason you missed it, just wait a few more weeks. You'll finally be able to play the best game of 2008 and likely the best game of the generation so far; it sold 3 million copies during its release month in June and has now sold over 4.5 million copies worldwide. It scored truckloads of Game of the Year nominations and awards - including plenty of PSX Extreme awards - and they're all richly deserved. Some of the hardcore fans won't tolerate specially packaged budget boxes in their collections, but if you were a hardcore fan, you'd already have the game, wouldn't you?

We expect to see the full details for North America some time soon (and let's not forget about Japan), so stay tuned for those. Really, as we said at the start, MGS4 as a Platinum title was inevitable.

Who doesn't? Too bad it's not happening. :( I remembe reading an article last August saying that they want to focus on future projects and the expansion packs. To be fair, they stuck to that. There have been 2 or 3 expansions for MGO and a whole load of added stuff for MGS4.

Funny how I still don't own this game. I've been holding on to my friends limited edition for awhile though. I'll go buy it when it is cheap just to replay it.

the LE ran out very quickly.

i was able to snag mine, because my local retailer was given 10 extra copies at the last minute =]

If you haven't played this game now is the time its still one of the best lookin games/maybe one of the best games on the ps3 the storyline was epic too bad they didn't add trophies tho

This is great. I don't have a PS3 yet...and MGS 4 was one of the most anticipated games for me in 2008 and I knew it wouldn't fail. I think this or FFXIII will be the first game I get with my PS3. LBP is really fun for co-op. I remember yesterday we went to Best Buy and there was this person playing LBP and he desperately asked me to play with him.

I always thought LBP was about just jumping around and getting to the finish...it's so much more than that. It's loads of fun playing co-op. Anyway I'm getting off-track, I apologize.

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is a true Masterpiece that desrves every bit of "Platinum" recognition. God...what an amazing game. I mean I never ever played it before...but seen the game in action from start to finish (sorry I just couldn't resist). So yea...even then...and even though I know what I will face, what emotions I might encounter, and etc - I still MUST PLAY IT. Can't wait to get on MGO either. However I've heard that MGO 2 isn't the same as...the old days. Oh well, it's still online fun right?

This just makes me wonder why Uncharted and Heavenly Sword haven't been turned into greatest hits yet. There are probably alot of people who would pick up Uncharted if it hit 29.99.

I am waiting on this for uncharted, I enjoyed the hours I was able to put in but the wallet grows thin. I did get Heavenly Sword for Xmas and it rocks, it shows a couple common glitches from early release titles but that didn't bother me because it was like playing an old school martial arts movie. The sixaxis use is well done too.

Yeah, I'm surprised Heavenly Sword didn't get more props. I loved that game! Best voice acting, characters, and facial expressions ever. It really was like playing a movie.
