Sex Returning To God Of War III?

Sex, in some capacity, has always existed in the God of War series. In the original, Kratos sparked major controversy when he went to bed with two topless ladies, then proceeded to rock their world until the vase fell off the bedside table. This mini-game simply had you perform a series of button prompts in order to achieve full climax, and you didn't actually see anything besides the jiggling vase. You heard the moans of the women and prior to the event, you did see them topless on the bed, but that was about it.

Then there was more nudity sprinkled about the games, but hey, it fits. And as it turns out, according to European gaming site PS3 Sense, a sex mini-game should return in God of War III. Now, we're not entirely sure what they plan to do, because team member Stig Asmussen seemed on the fence about the issue:

"The sex mini-games are a double-edged sword: we're damned if we do, damned if we don't. If we do include a sex mini-game and don't add anything new to it, then people will say it's getting old. If we don't include the sex mini-game, then the fans will be in an uproar."

Well, perhaps "uproar" is too strong a word; we'd like to believe that most of us are mature enough not to care too much about such an addition. We should conclude that if the content fits the rest of the presentation - and it probably does - than it fits nicely into the atmosphere. If it's just there for kicks, then it's not necessary. We'll just have to wait and see what they have in store this time around...

Properly implemented, sex as a plot device can be very successful without being gratuitous, though the fragile sensibilities of some shit disturbers will find any sex reference dirty. It's no problem to have blood and guts and cursing, but show someone getting laid (the source of all our existences) and fire and brimstone rain upon you in an orgy of rightous fury....

On a side note, the epic scale trailer has made me a little damp for this game.

I hate to admit it, being such a thorough gamer, but I have never played a GoW game. This has piqued me so much, I do believe I will pick up the first two this weekend, see what I have been missing out on, and get the proper atmosphere for when this one hits shelves.

They both seem to earn M rating, so I'm not sure if I see the double-standard, but I do see how the youth may be more susceptible to the influence of sex culture than depictions of violence.

Jofamang comment fits me. Don't want it in the game. Hypocritical but that's how it is. I take issue with the profanity as well though and constantly question whether game killing is wrong or is it the equivalent of shooting a can? It'll be clear to me one day.

I didn't claim the rating system was skewed, but that there are those who are able to get noticed when they speak, who chose to target specific high profile examples, and demonize them.

I had heard about the sex mini games in GoW series, through the controversy over it. A hundred games can pass through to the public between high profile violence concerns (Every GTA in the series, for example) but it seems that every title with bare breasts or heavy sex references gets lambasted.

Every night, during prime time TV, on network television, I can fill every slot with gratuitous violence and gore of some sort. But the only breasts I have seen on American primetime are inert tribeswoman from *insert 3rd world country here*. Even tasteful, artfully crafted scenes cannot show nipple, vajayjay, or the frank-and-beans.

Thank god for my liberal Canadian Broadcasting Corp (CBC) and their refusal to kowtow to the religious right (which is far less prevalent in Canada than in the USA). Perhaps I belong in Europe?

Ben, I'm guilty too. I have never played a God of War game. :( But, hey give me a break! I was busy with Final Fantasy and Metal Gear Solid!

I have to say, what a weird minigame to put in a hack and slash... I dunno, I wouldnt mind it in. It'd be cool. But weird. :S

Sorry, it just came to my mind. I know Ben and Arnold wouldn't stand for it either.

The sex-mini games are funny to me. I wouldn't care if they didn't include it in the next game, but why not? They've done it for all the other games, might as well make the scene in the next one bigger and better too.

It was funny to see in the first one but after experiencing it the first time, it was only worth doing again later to fill your life back up if it was needed. At least I think it was your life bar. I only played it that one day.

It's not a kids game, so it should be ok to include whatever content the developer desires. After all, it's their game to make for us, not our game to dictate what should be in it.

They have had the mini sex games in all three GOW games even on the PSP. They have to include it, it is part of the game, and if they make it hidden like GOW2 and chains then not too many people will complain, and if they do, so what? It has always been in the game so why change now?

If I can strangle someone with a plastic bag in one game, I should be able to see titties in another.

I often revert back to being a kid when gaming so I find that sh*t funny, getting head in GTAIV was a riot (Especially with a couple drinks in us)

yeah, and not to mention that an M rating is the equivalent of an R rating for movies. And in some R rated movies, you see both female and male genitals. You see titties galore and more instore!

Why is it that M rated games get graded so harshly when movies are depicted to be more life like, thus more realistic in its violence and/or sex scenes?

I like having a female to look at while I play the game but don't need any porno, though don't really matter those sex mini game are funy so why not. In the otherhand though its a bit awkward if somebody is around. lol can't make up my mind.

I can remember the one making the vase fall off the table was that on the first game ? If it was what was it in the 2nd game or was it the same sex mini game.
I tried it a 2nd time to get my health bar back up again haha.

I love in the GTA games getting the hookers and then killing them to get your money back.

The mini-game in the 2nd one was of the two ladies in the bath-house and it showed the little statue of a little boy (of Cupid I think?) with the stream of water coming out of his.. uh.. ding dong changing as Kratos was doing the dirty :P

LOL about the hookers thing I did that as well, I was like "Give me ma money back fool!".. but then felt stink about it after...

Just wanted to say, this site is great, signed up today, but have vistited this site quite frequently, i have always been a huge Gow fan, looking forward to GowIII, i hope they do include a sex mini game, if this indeed is the final in the trilogy, it should be included, Great job Ben, keep up the great work!

I say wait until you hear the improvements made in Assassins Creed 2...the first became too repetitive, too quickly. If AC2 doesn't add many new features, It could be a waste for money.
