Lost Planet 2 Announced, PlayStation 3 Version In Question?
We better hope that Capcom's vow to be a multiplatform publisher in the new generation holds fast, because Lost Planet 2 has just been announced...and we're not entirely sure if it's coming to the PlayStation 3. It should be, but...
This highly anticipated sequel was revealed in a special trailer, exclusive to Xbox Live (which you can view here), and we have to admit, the game looks great. It took a little while for Capcom to bring Lost Planet: Extreme Condition to the PS3, but since then, everything the publisher has done has included both Sony and Microsoft's machines (DMC4, SFIV, and RE5 are good examples). Therefore, we have to assume Lost Planet 2 is headed to the PS3 as well, but we can't seem to locate any confirmation. For the time being, we'll just have to revel in that announcement trailer, which should excite fans of the original. While the first one had a few problems, it was still a fairly solid action game that featured plenty of kick-ass mechs; you can expect more of the same in the sequel. Based on what we see and hear in that trailer, it appears that Capcom is embracing the "bigger and better" philosophy for LP2, and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. Let's just hope the game gets confirmed for both consoles some time soon. They won't leave PS3 owners out in the cold (pun intended), right?
We know Dead Rising 2 is scheduled to be a multiplatform release, too, so why should Lost Planet 2 receive any special treatment?

I do expect this to not be the case and we'll see a PS3 trailer in the near future. I wouldn't hold my breath for a tv advert but then we don't get those anyway right?

I like that it's a 3rd-person game, rather than the all-too-common FPS type.
After finishing the first one, I wasn't exactly waiting with bated breathe for a sequel, so I'm not too excited here...

I seriously doubt it will be 360 exclusive. Capcom stated recently that all major titles would be multi-platform.

Jun Takeuchi or Inafune (I forget which) said so in a translated interview posted 1up.com about a month ago. Capcom tried to discredit the translation because it messed with their marketing plans.
The reason it's only on Live is because much like RE5(hense why the 360 logo is always printed first in ads), Microsoft has a advertising deal with Capcom for this. In the interview Takeuchi said that they might do something extra for 360 users because thats where Lost planet and Dead Rising got their start.

I think the bad PS3 port of the first game has left a sour taste with many PS3 gamers. There was a stark difference between the 360 and PS3 reviews of the game.
I agree, this is definitely gonna come out for PS3. It would just go against Capcom's initiative of multi console support.

Really, remember the ps2 days when it had all the "first come first serve" treatment. You'd see the default pic of a multi-plat being that of the ps2's boxshot on any site; be it gamespot, ign or whatever.
Seriously this generation is a big vice versa. What do we have now,360 box shots being the default for almost all sites.
I think i've gotten used to it,maybe u guys shoulda realized this a long time ago.

I think, maybe, we'll see the usual MS buys the DLC from Capcom and as a result they'll have the demo and trailers before we do on PSN . Sony prefer to put their cash into their first party games creating something great off their own back rather than the hit and hope strategy of MS this gen. I guess as this was originally a 360 timed exclusive that it might make sense for MS and Capcom to go this way with LP as a multi with 360 exclusive extras esp since nobody bought the PS3 version so we'll see.
I only hope the game is good as , personally, I've been really disappointed with Capcom lately over SF4(prefer SF2HDTR if I'm honest and we'll see the inevitable upgrade within a year AND if you want to play it with any level of skill you need to spend another £60 on a good arcade stick) AND over RE5(no, not the controls.Like Ben I found the forced co-op with a useless Ai NPC(and the added inventory woes that entails with the worst inventory ever)killed the SP for me(in the demo at least)and I think the SP is more important than co-op as they built the franchise on great SP)so the surprise being LP2 was a big let down. Add to this the godawful Dead Rising:CTYD on Wii then , again as far as I'm concerned, it's been a poor effort from one of my favourite(even if they don't really get on with Sony these days)devs and publishers lately. SF4 and RE5 are still good games but they haven't hit the heights they should and I think Calcom have got poff really light and, for the life of me, I can't see where the 10/10 reviews for SF4 came from. I'd give Turebo as good a score as SF4 and I wouldn't give that a ten. Neither are nearly perfect and the best I'd give Turbo is an 8. There aren't enough new characters, Focus mode in while parries are out-oh I could bore you all night but suffice to say I doubt SF4 will have the long legs of it's ancestors and we'll move along much, much quicker than we would ten years back. Capcom-you fooled loads of gamers but I'm not having any of it as I know you can do much, much better and the slide really started with the "make 'em play the game twice with different blokes that look practically the same" BS in DMC4! Hopefully Bayonetta will give us the mad action missing from Capcom's slash fest of repetition this year.
Capcom rant over-understand it's from a big, disappointed fan though.

When was the last time that a proper sequel was worse than the original? I'm talking about this gen.... and not movie tie in's either.
