Retailers Breaking KZ2 Street Date?
Maybe they're all just thinking, "eh, it's only one day...what difference does it make?"
Evidence has been coming in from all around the Internet that several major retailers in North America have broken the February 27 street date for Killzone 2. Now, if you're a little out of it and aren't quite sure of the day, February 27 is the day after tomorrow, not today. Even so, Target is apparently selling the game at multiple store locations nationwide, as reported by PS3Center. Then we have whispers that some Wal-Mart stores have done the same thing, although we can't verify any of those claims with visual evidence. Essentially, if you absolutely need KZ2 a day sooner, and you've got nothing to do today (the economy may have seen to that), we suggest checking some big chain stores nearby. Just don't bother with GameStop; there's no chance in hell they're going to break the street date. I worked there for a while, and I remember the insanely steep consequences if we did that; if we even sold a single solitary copy an hour before the street date. So just try Target, Wal-Mart, and maybe Best Buy...
You're not doing anything wrong if you buy it today; it's the retailer's fault. Some giant corporation isn't going to slap you with a giant fine and pissed-off reprimand. Oh, and if you want that demo code, we still have about 8 left if you want to sign up for the forums and contribute to our community. Leave a sentence or two explaining why you want to try it, and your e-mail address in this thread.

A guy in my clan picked this game up last Saturday at a major retailer in his area. He's loving the different levels but said so far, without being able to play on-line, his favorite part is playing the different maps against bots. In his words this game blows Cod4, Cod w@w, and Socom away.

I still think the worldwide release date should be the same for everybody. Anyway, my mindset has had the game's release date as February 27 for a long time so it's no big deal. I was told that I could pick it up first thing in the morning Friday.
Of course, KZ2 is just my dessert and occasional snack. It's MLB 2009 that is going to represent breakfast, lunch and dinner in March and beyond.

Go play Crysis on your gaming PC that costs less than a PS3.
Oh? What?
docpain
Wednesday, February 25, 2009 @ 2:09:42 PM
I have a gaming PC and you constantly need to change video cards, power supplies, processors, sound cards...for $400, you will have a gaming pc but will only be able to run crysis on medium settings at best...not to mention some pc-only gamers play on their HD-less 19" monitors..not sure how it is in other games, but in cod4 you need to install 3rd party apps just to have a friends list...also, on pc you have way more glitchers and hackers hacking everything...i just use my gaming PC for some ripped game torrents...
All pc gamers use the same line when bashing consoles, "auto aim, easier difficulty"....these same people cannot handle the thumb sticks which is why they are pc gamers in the first place but they complain about it being so easy and having auto aim...go figure
No pc-only gamer can handle the thumbsticks on a controller, thats a fact

Troy Powers a gaming mouse on a mousepad moves way faster than your thumb on a joystick. I understand there are those that enjoy 1st person shooters on consoles, I just hope you realize you're getting a dumbed/watered down version of a more complex/complete game on PCs. Plus an infinite supply of DLC for FREE from both the developer and regular gamers.

Did you forget to mention the power supply upgrade, proper cooling system, a new fan, enough processor horse power in addition to the ram chips and video card...this will hold up for about 1-2 years...rinse and repeat

Really? So there's a PC version of KZ2 which is better than the PS3 version AND and infinite supply of DLC for free? Sign me up!!!
Wait? No?
Man, stop playing with my emotions.
"Troy Powers a gaming mouse on a mousepad moves way faster than your thumb on a joystick."
You're saying that you can move your gaming mouse across a mousepad faster than I can move my thumb a fraction of an inch? Somebody break out the nanosecond stopwatch!
I dunno, dude. I can see it being a personal preference thing. The whole moving and aiming with a mouse thing is a serious pain in the ass to me. But, whatever gets you off, my friend.

KZ2 I thought was just spectacular. Loved the class system and the way you can mix abilities of different classes. Loved the gameplay, loved the graphics. I just loved it to pieces. And this is coming from someone who thought CoD4 was "meh." For me, personally, it's no contest.

I'd still say go with KZ2 cuz it's awesome, and you might be able to find LBP in a bargain bin somewhere soon. Even if you don't, you've waited this long, what's one more month? It'll probably eat you up inside reading everyone rave about KZ2 and you're playing LBP.
Besides, if you loved CoD4, you'll cream yourself over Killzone. Better graphics. More game modes. Better class system. Pure online awesomeness.
So, do you want an improvement on something you already know and love, or something brand new and innovative? Sounds like either way you can't go wrong.

Correction: The MOST APPARENT thing that KZ2 has going for it is graphics. The BIGGEST thing is excellent online play, class system, sound, and all the other points that were applauded in just about every review.

Hell, it's sold WAY more copies than KZ2 (though that probably won't be true in a few weeks).
@ Geobaldi
Have you actually played both games or are you just offering an uninformed opinion?
p.s. LBP is fun, despite its imprecise controls (let ME decide when I want to switch to a different plane of depth, dammit!).

On this whole PC vs Console rabbling going on; worlds apart my friends. Not just with the controls(no strafe dancing on consoles yay!) but stuff like MODDING and the like. So its hardly comparable. Killzone 2 is the answer to the vibe you get from PC FPS games but on a console. It can be done just give it a whirl!

maybe didnt answer your question with a good anology but lol... anyways yea well i posted yesterday that my buddy seen at wal-mart they had it on the shelves but the comp. wouldnt let em ring it up i asked him today and they took it doen, now r they dumb enough to put it in the comp, then put it back on shelves today idk? and i just called my local wal-mart and they have it but they are being reluctant to let it go im pushing them but its not working lol... friday it is!
@limited vertigo my buddy owns a computer store does the online tournaments and stuff and he envies the fact that i can use a controller he only plays on pc and rock band on the consoles but he openly admits he'd use sticks if he could, cus the controller is more accesible to the hand, he just cant use sticks lol! anyways i know u gave up the argument to an extent but there are pc gamers out there that want what we have!

I've noticed that PC fans keep using that argument of "dumbed down" long after it has ceased to be viable, and it could be because the there hasn't been a single solitary piece of great PC software that isn't yet another carbon copy of Half-Life, Command & Conquer, or Baldurs Gate...in the past decade.
Furthermore, you can't really get a decent gaming PC for the price of a PlayStation 3, nor is it preferable to play the best games available on a PC. Those days are gone. Most have already acknowledged this.

in ninety days the ps3 will havea new peripheral for FPS it includes a mouse with buttons on the left side for easy thumb access and the controller looks like a wii mote but has your d-pad a stick and looks like its via usb so no wireless? maybe it'll be used like the rock band guitar? none the less now u cant bash on the FPS being better on pc ur argument is dismissed, but am i wrong couldnt u use a mouse and keyboard with the ps3 anyways to end the argument that could have been said too! Or what Ben said!

In regards to your comment on the price of"gaming Pcs" as I've mentioned before most people already own a pc to equip it for gaming you could easily put in it items that in total cost less than a PS3

Having a PlayStation 3 gives you access to a far greater variety of quality games, and if you own more than one console, the gap only gets wider. From GoWIII to Uncharted to FFXIII... I can see of no real argument to support a gaming PC these days. None whatsoever.

This would be true, if everyone could afford it. But let me ask you this. After spending thousands on a pc and upgrading it over the years, and your console(s), and game library, how willing are you to spend a grand or more for an HDTV? If so, the majority of consumers simply don't have the budget that you do.
Since console games are designed and marketed for a much larger audience, games for consoles are designed typically with much larger budgets and can be afforded more production values, game design and so forth. And due to accelerating hardware advances, and the plateauing of what designer and dev's can push out of shared graphic engines of increasingly shorter dev cycle schedules, consoles games are not only more accessible, but have caught on.
Personally, I'm a person of simple tastes. I'll be happy with a couple games that are my favorite, and I'll play for years. So even though I can afford a highend pc, all the consoles, and an HDTV, the games that happen to be my favorite are on the ps3. And it gives me the most bang for my buck, too.

Yup I agree one hundred percent. There will never be another Quake 3 Arena era (even though they are attempting at reviving it as we speak with Quake Live).
Also most of my games are Multiplat games that also have PC counterparts: Fallout 3, Far Cry 2, and I hear there is a PC version of SF IV. So get used to sharing PC guy...
Star Craft 2 is really your saving grace, I'm sure that one is not coming to consoles. On the topic of Blizzard, MMOs seem to be what dominates the PC market. I walk in a net-cafe all I see are screens full of Warhammer Online and WOW. These people are in the same room mind you!

As much as I admire the fact that you can build your own PC, and maintain it, you're a dying breed. The reason? Convenience...Not everyone wants to mess with installation of drivers and software and system requirements when they can just plug and play... The good news for you is that the less educated the common user is about using a system, the more money a person like you could charge to fix it...just a thought.
I used to game on PC's too, but now I find using the mouse and Keyboard is no longer comfortable for me, Now when I play a game on my PC, I use a PC Controller...but It doesn't get used very often because the PS3 is where my games are.
It's kind of sad to see it happen, because without PC's there wouldn't be games...but Even you have to agree that the number of PC gamers is dwindling in comparison to Console gamers. If you disagree, look at the sales numbers between console games and PC games...Like you said, everyone has a PC or Laptop...so what do the sales of PC games say? They'll tell you everything you need to know.

Touche with the Counter Strike Source remark! Forgot about that gem. Also I highly enjoyed Goblin Commander. It was an RTS designed for consoles in mind by ex-members of the first StarCraft team. PC gaming has its place in my heart; I'll never forget playing Duke Nukem 3D around the ripe age of 12! LOL.
