Killzone 2 Sets First-Party Pre-Order Record For PS3

Have you pre-ordered Killzone 2? If you have, you're one of many that has made Guerilla's awesome shooter the most pre-ordered title in first-party PlayStation 3 history.

It seems that VGChartz received a confirmation from SCEA that Killzone 2 is one hell of a hot item: SCEA compared the pre-order data to the other major first-party titles (LittleBigPlanet, Resistance 2, Gran Turismo 5: Prologue, etc.), and KZ2 has the edge. Mind you, they're not using finalized numbers; rather, they compared all the pre-order tallies across the board for when a first-party game was two weeks from launch. At that time period, Killzone 2 definitely has scored more pre-orders than any other first-party PS3 game, and even with some super popular titles already, this shouldn't surprise anyone. It may be the most massively hyped game of the generation, and even when the hype isn't warranted (in this case, it was), hype alone can still manage to sell copies. And some of you may have gotten lucky yesterday when Target and some Wal-Mart stores broke the February 27 street date; no pre-orders in those places, but why wait? It's there on the shelf, so nab it!

We're assuming it helped that GameStop was giving away a demo code to anyone who pre-ordered Killzone 2, but we won't dwell on that fact. Just be ready to head down to the store tomorrow (or Saturday, if your store doesn't receive the game until the 28th). The only question left is, how excited are you?

ello everyone, pre ordered from play.com and got it today :D

but must say single player is good and graphics are amazing
but the games loading and saving is really glitchie :(

Hey guys. I've been coming to this site for quite a while now and I only just decided to make an account. And I gotta say, Ben you are a fantastic writer. Anyways it's no surprise that Killzone 2 broke the record for most pre-orders on ps3. But I'd like to see how the number holds up to heavily hyped games on other platforms. I know I pre-ordered my copy :D. Just gotta come up with 60 bucks by friday. lol.

Target and Best Buy are both across the street from where I live and unfortunately my Target had not broken street date the jerks but then again everyone in California is petrified of being sued. But I digress and I cannot wait until tomorrow because I know at least one of those stores is going to have it

The demo was pretty cool. I expected more though, it was short.

I like the looks of everything. Can't way to play the whole thing and tackle those trophies. Just finished off the Deadspace trophies because I'm awesome.

Anywho, we should all get online tomorrow and rage on some Killzone 2 all night long!!

I've had this payed in full for several weeks, the only disappointing thing was gameslut decided against a midnight launch. That's pretty wierd considering it's so highly pre-ordered. I would go get my money but my girl preordered it for valentines and she wants to pick it up.

X-Play is really calling K2 a must-have game...not just their usual understated "It's good for PS3" drivel.

Mr. Sark's top 5 about KILLZONE 2 online play:

1. Running (dunno why this is a big deal)
2. Snipering (and cloaking, which I'd not seen before)
3. Shotgun (it totally obliterates opponents)
4. 'The Chirp' (when you kill someone)
5. The awesome cheat code reviewers were given (which only worked on the Beta site)

Lamestop just called me with their message about Killzone 2 coming tommorow morning! I'm glad I didn't prepay in full because a late night Wal-mart trip is in order to see if they will sell it to me. IT WILL BE THE 27TH after all!

Oh if I get Killzone 2 at Wal-mart, then that pre-order credit is going straight to RE5!
