Some GameStops Doing Midnight Launches For Killzone 2

Some of you have been asking if GameStop will be doing a midnight launch for Killzone 2, and we do have an answer for you...kinda.

It's quite simple, really: some GameStops will be doing the launch and others won't. If you pre-ordered the game and received an automated call from GameStop yesterday, you know that your local store will be doing a midnight launch (as that's the purpose of the call). If you didn't get any such call, than you should probably call your nearest store to see if you can score your copy of KZ2 early. Now, we've also seen the game sitting on store shelves in both Target and Wal-Mart, which isn't exactly surprising, although it does mean they broke the street date of February 27. Just yesterday, we saw a whole empty rack of Killzone 2 at Target, and at Wal-Mart, the game sat there, looking all pretty, waiting to be bought. GameStop, on the other hand, won't ever break a street date - if they do, it's rare - so a midnight launch is your best opportunity to bring the game home before the weekend. We've heard whispers of Best Buy having KZ2 on sale between yesterday and today, too, but we can't verify those rumors.

Either way, by this weekend, many of you will finally get to see if the hype is deserved. As far as we're concerned, it is, but we'll let you judge for yourself.

Ours has a midnight launch, they kicked me out at 9:30 tho lol (they close at 9 and reopen at 12) i was mad cuz they said i could stay there with them until 12 but nope :| manager changed his mind, bleh. anywayz i'll be up there again in a couple hours lol

would have bought this at target today but i was selling my prince of persia, bioshock and disgaea 3 games today to cash in on gamestop's little sell they had going and mine isnt doing a midnight launch for some bullshit reason, so i can wait, more fallout 3, this time as a ninja

Im pretty tired out of Disgaea 3 and its not like its rare. Played this game a lot since its been out and the extra dlc for it doesn't interest me

Bioshock has zilch in the replay department after you have beaten it on the hardest difficulty. Dlc was fun but still can't keep me from selling it

I got a flyer from BestBuy today. Killzone 2 was on the front page (but small in the bottom left). Above it it said "Available Now."

I also laughed that Future Shop had a whole page for the 360 and "Halo Wars", but this is the first flyer I've seen from them without a PS3 in it. It's almost as if they were completely trying to support Microsoft and hurt Sony by not showing Killzone 2 (out of sight, out of mind). Usually BestBuy is the company that acts like 360 fanboys lol. Future shop does however have an annual "Sony Days" sale mid way through the year...

Yeah my store is doing a midnite launch, but my son is spending the night. I'll have to wait a whole extra ten hours for my copy plus I doubt I'll be able to put street fighter down for long enough to play killzone.

This game is awesome...

I am only 30 mins deep, and already don't want it to end. It just feels different from every other game I've played. It feels real. That's the only word I can come up to describe the game.

I cannot comprehend how someone can give KZ2 anything lower than a 9 and it blows my mind how someone could give this a 7.

I think reviwers are really picky about any game when it's exclusively on the PS3. It just seems that way.

Picked Killzone 2 up a few hours ago... IT HAS TO BE ONE OF THE BEST GAMES I HAVE PLAYED - PERIOD... it is an experience... everything about it...

After having been part of the Beta... it has surged beyond the hype... the cut scenes, graphics engine and sound detailing is phenomenal. I am sorry but 360 console owners are going to suffer after this... it is that simple...

Well done Guerrilla... congratulations on an outstanding achievement...

I played until 3:30 AM, this is a really good game. Definitely a 9.5/10 for me so far on single player. Man, I played this baby until 3:30 AM, but due to work I have to stop! Now I am at my office checking my clock every 5 minutes to see if it if time to go home......lol

us europeans already have our copies. even those who in the UK, because if they ordered from play. (which is based in luxembourg, so are allowed a 25/2/09 release.)

@Juan - I know!!! That's what I was thinking. Granted I'm only about 30 mins in, but I'm actually into it. Maybe it gets worse? Or they forget about the story as the game goes on?

But I actually wanna kill those Helghast soldiers, and even if they are the typical soldier characters, you feel like you're going into war with a bunch of your buds.

And that intro was awesome...the way the speech starts while the Sony logo and Guerilla logos are barely coming out, that just caught me by suprise.

you should check out the opening video from killzone 1. It has the same guy making a similar speech years earlier. The voice actor did and amazing job. It really set the mood for the game.

I've been re-playing R2, and I really don't think I can pick it up for a while after KZ2.

Although the co-op in R2 is still awesome.

I'm glad both of those games are different enough to own both.

I for one have never waited outside a store for anything. There are about 3 GameStops in my area and none of them ever get too bad.

The most I've waited is like 15 minutes outside, but only after being inside the GameStop and watching a tournie for Smash Bros Brawl. That was only to make a line to actually buy it.

It's actually pretty cool being around people who enjoy doing the same things as you. I've met quite a few cool people during these events.

Picked up my copy today. It's awesome. Gamestop does midnight releases based on how many pre-orders they get. At my store they have to get like 75 to do it.

I don't see why a lot of people complaining about the controls or the speed. The campaign so far is awesome. Must be their tv or something because everything is great on mine. I didn't even have to change the sensitivity like I did in the demo.

CoD4 had their map pack on sale to keep people playing and they also did double points for online. I haven't tried KZ2 online yet but considering what you guys said during the beta I don't think I will be playing CoD4 for awhile.

When I started the game up and adjusted the gamma, I could not see the test image at all. Even after I messed with the controls on the tv.

Did this happen to any of you?
