I don't see why you put the wii in the list you have. It's not really what I would call a "next gen" console. It's taking a step back if anything.

I Still and will always choose XBOX 360 for multi-platform games that go online. PS3 is the console I fire up with my friends. Singstar, Guitar Hero, Rock Band etc.

I was doing the same until MGS4 came out and that is about the time I rid myself of the disappointing console(360). Now with KZ2 would just and split-screen online co-op my gaming life would just be too perfect.

I DID get the PS3 for my RPG fix, but now even though I am deprived of that, I am glad I chose it for it's reliability, free online, superior technology, better support, and exclusives. The damned thing is just so solid in every way that yes, I'll even wait around for it to catch up in the RPG department.

Could I become a dual next-gen console owner? Yes, but the horror stories are enough to keep me with PS3 alone, probably for the duration.

@WorldEndsWithMe I say stay with your ps3 shes love u alot, u will break her heart if u leave her, I had the box and I wasn't too impress with there line up. gears1 is better then gears2 in my opinion. Halo3 is done and over with no need me to play ODST, master is the halo franchise and halo don't need a spin-off.

I bought the 360 at launch because I really liked my original XBox. I would never had swung 600.00 for a PS3 when it came out. But, I really wanted to upgrade my DVD player with a blu-ray player and after the 360 died on me I serviced contracted it out and waited for a deal, the Sony store finally came through and I was able to get a 40 PS3 for 299.00 if I signed up and used the Sony card to purchased it. Best thing I ever did, the thing is a marvel unable to be compared to anything on the market today. heck, I just upgraded it to a 500gig hard drive for 69.00. how can you go wrong! I use all the features! as for the 360, I only buy used exclusives and watch netflix with it every once in a while. maybe it will last longer than a yugo with a blown head gasket.

All of my RL friends are broke so they go for the 360.. or they don't care.. =(

But whatever, I've been having a lot of fun with my friend on the 360 lately anyways, with Gears/Halo/L4D.

I just wish some games were like the good 'ol days, back during the PS2's life, y'know, when games shipped with split-screen MP, and almost always with bots. K2 kinda pissed me off with that, so it's kind of why I'm mentioning it. But it's not only with the PS3, but with the 360 as well..

However, I am also enjoying SP games more than ever, so it's not really that big of an issue.

lol i had UT3 when it came out but then sold it not much later because it didn't have split. it was the reason i got the game. let's just say i was pretty upset over that.

My 360 and I grew to hate each other, it decided to stop ejecting disks and I decided to stop resisting throwing it at the wall in the garage. It is such a shoddy piece of electronics. Thankfully ebay allowed me to recoup some of my losses. The PS3 is going to prove its lasting power far longer than the Xbox360's last few years of terror.

Gotta say Ben, the beginning bit where you make it sound as if 2006/2007 was bad for the ps3 disturbs me.

In fact I disagree with it completely.

The ps3 has always had great online service/games. Might've lacked FEATURES back then. But in terms of being able to play online it was, and it has always been great.

So I disagree strongly there. Resistance, Motorstorm, Warhawk. I personally couldn't have asked for a better lineup of EARLY online games.

I think n00bs are just starting to realize that the 360 was a last-gen console. And that it has a short lifespan, literally...

The ps3 is MERELY a 7 million in sales behind the 360. Again really have to point that out, since that's an easy number for Sony to close off. Gran Turismo 5 alone can almost, if not for sure close that gap.

Hell i payed $600 within a week of the PS3's release. It wasn't for the content that was present at the time, but rather the fact that I knew Sony was reliable and that things would improve in the future.

I'm a patient guy, and I trusted Sony, so back then and even now I consider my purchase a great one. Expecially since I did my research and saw that the price I payed was far less than the manufacturing costs.

as for me,as i stated before in other posts,the only reason i would consider 360 are the exclusives like halo3,doom 4,left 4 dead,half-life,etc.,otherwise i much prefer ps3 which is the only next-gen console that i own. so nothing has changed for me. as i still believe sony is the future...

The 360 is basically a PC dressed in green sheep's clothing (haha get it?!) Since I have a powerful PC my time spent with the 360 has been average at best while I've always viewed the PS3 as a true next gen console.

I wouldn't say that...it has little to do with a PC except for its cheap DVD drive and overheating problems (due to an inept system builder). Also, M$ doesn't really want it to be anything other than a game console...at least in any manner that would compete much with Windows (e.g. a web browser). It too uses a PPC-based CPU (as does the Wii), so has more in common w/ a Mac than a PC. :-)

I have been thinking a lot about the whole thing about the controls of Killzone 2 and I have realized that these people are complaining about milliseconds of lag which is a bit understandable when precision is key to a game but that is all they are saying. They can only find milliseconds of lag in the controls to b*tch about. So the statement that now Killzone dominates the headlines is very very true and not only the headlines but the genre as a whole IMHO because if the only gripe people can come up with is milliseconds of control lag then you have to have a hit game on your hands

It's the difference between average and pro... I believe lag is a little more than a few milli-seconds, otherwise people wouldn't be complaining about it... try to track a target easily whilst in a frenzy and your sights go all over the place because of the "realistic" momentum and the added lag... I am still enjoying the game; easily one of the best shooters around...

As someone who love KZ2 but does not love the controls I am finally getting used to it. That being said I still think the best thing GG can do is "tweak" the deadzone in the right annalog if nothing else than then to encourage more people to play this fantastsic game.

The greatest reasons the PS3 is better than the Xbox is Blu-Ray, exclusives like resistance, killzone and motorstorm, and it's black. Black just looks cooler than white. I know that sounds racist, but seriously, the black color scheme is cool. Like splinter cell cool. seriously.

Can anyone join this PSXE clan? or is it run by someone else hmm ...anyways, I bought my ps3 a little over a year ago for about $599 CDN and couldn't be happier, it's an 80gb one with b/c, and came with 3 games (none of which i still have >.>) and a remote. Umm ..I didn't have a problem paying this much because I remember paying about $550 for my ps2 way back when, and I think the same for my ps1 back in the day (I could be wrong, but I know it was expensive too) I think the ps3 is the best purchase i've ever made, i paid almost the same price as my ps2 when it first came out, and yet the online is way superior (especially now as you said Ben) the games are soo much better (loving KZ2 and LBP) and I'm using the browser right now actually, i don't even use my pc anymore for hardly anything, and I know it's only going to get better from here on out.

On a side not, i've never even considered getting an xbox, i've been playing playstation since the original PS.

Kinda wish now that I didn't waste my money, all I ever use is the PS3. especially now with Killzone 2 and Flower

Yes, 360 has a 3-core Cell-like CPU, but supposedly the ATI GPU is capable of a bit more on its own than the nVidia RSX on the PS3, but I think that was by design...to let the RSX handle the more basic/mundane GPU tasks while SPEs handled the more intricate stuff. That difference aside, I think the PS3 still has more overall horsepower (and less bottlenecking).

I don't own either system yet, so maybe I'm thinking it from a slightly different perspective.

I always buy my consoles used whenever I've get some extra coin, & that way I have a lot left over to buy a batch of used games with it.

After the PS3 came out, I still wanted a 360Elite first, but since I was cash strapped, I was also quite willing to wait it out a couple years till the used 360 prices came down to a reasonable price.

But since then, and because of all the horrible RROD story's(even the newer chipped ones), and also how the PS3 is now just starting to break out & become the beast of a entertainment center I think it will be, I've reversed my thinking & am going to hunt down a older 60GB PS3 first in about 4 weeks, & then see if I can find a cheap used 360Elite(just for it's exclusives, and to put in my gaming collection).

But till then, I still have 9 systems, including the Xbox, PS1, and PS2, that are still keeping me happily occupied till then.

Just to stick in my 2 cents. I bought my PS3 for the $600 and have never looked back. Blu-ray sure didn't rocket off, but it was a damn good start, because look where it is today. People have no patience, which is why the xbox 360 sold so well. Especially here in America, where everyone has the "I want it now, and I want it cheap" mentality. Look like I have been saying since the start, you get what you pay for. I for one was so shocked at the power of the PS3 in it's 2nd year, the xbox had nothing like that in it's second year. Heavenly Sword was a masterpiece and Motorstorm is still a great looking game to this day. Hell even Uncharted stands with the big boys.

i dont think its happened yet, although this time next year it will be a different story.

Also i was thinking, would it boost PS3 sales more if they had a game price cut as opposed to a system price cut. Instead of selling games for Â£40/$60, they could sell them for Â£30/$45. i think if they did that, all the clever people looking for a gaming system would work out that PS3's would be cheaper in the long run.

PS3 every day of the week and twice on Sunday.
I used to own a 360 (several with repairs) they were noisy, the games froze, paying for online play is insulting and the customer support was shocking (I waited 6 weeks, 3 weeks then 4 weeks for refurbs).
It was the worst money I ever spent and I won't invest in any future M$ console.

I truly think if the 360 did'nt have hardware issues the ps3 would have pass it up by now think about it.
A lot of people go through the 360 so much they end up purchasing one two even up to three 360 now that's 3 360 for one person, Just imagine how many people do that because there 360 fail and the warranty expired. Its so bad that I went to this one loyal 360 website and hes even fed up with it telling people they are better off buying a ps3 and killzone2 it shocked me. I was also one of the few that dished out $600 for a system that didn't really have any games making me want to play it. All of my friends had a 360 and I was making due with Drake and Heavenly Sword. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed both of those games, but at the time all I could hear were all the praises of the 360 until 2 of my friends 24hrs into playing their games got the rrod. (not exaggerating)

After some time I ending up getting the Elite thinking that the problems might have been fixed, but mainly because no one I knew had a PS3. At the time I was playing the 360 way more than the PS3. I was using my PS3 mainly as a blu-ray player and doing endless updating.

Now those same friends have since moved on and sold their 360's and finally gave in to me telling them how much better the Ps3 was. MGS4 was the game that made most of them finally switch. The few of them that refuse to switch are now coming over every chance to get to play KZ2 'cuz they are looking at the fact that 360 doesn't really have any new games coming out that interest them. People could only play Halo games but so much.
I still play my 360 which hasn't failed on me yet (knock on wood), but I spend 95% of my playing time on the PS3 and in no way have regrets of spending $600 on it.

Funny thing, I was waiting to buy a 360 as soon the reliability issue has been fix it, but based on the information available on the net, 360 is still a time bomb. So, "now" I am looking for a second PS3.......I can keep my kids away from my black beast. So, my plan here is to buy one for them.....;o)

I´ve got both systems plus a Wii, but I only use PS3 nowadays. Wii is powered when we have guests - funny playing. XBox only if there´s a really playworthy exclusive title like "Too Human" PS3 became the center of my home entertaiment. I got it by the first day it was deliverable in Germany, a 60GB of course and I didn´t regret one penny so far. I don´t judge PS3 and 360 system by their technical pros and cons but by the philosophie behind them. See, Microsoft´s 360 is just a gaming console, it´s not future orientated and you´ve got to pay for every extra. Even communication is not for free. This has somekind a surpressive character. There´s no evolvement in Microsofts philosophie it´s is just eat, drink, sleep but don´t think. PS3, on the other hand, is a mature system with a future orientated setting. Communications is for free and you can share your content. There´s the possibility to install Linux, another free and worldwide developed system. This systems says, go evolve, develop your own thing and help us develop by bringing up your own ideas. (See games like Little big Planet, Buzz etc.)
You can also put it from this point of view. Microsoft´s X360 was cracked six month after it was on the market. Game sales are far beyond PS3 compared ont the similar titles. But nobody cracked the PS3 so far - why? Xbox360 has no quality in the sense of Pisig´s 'Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance' therefore it´s treated like noworthy. PS3 has this quality and the user worship it. Really, even if you think, my arguments are somewhat strange. A companies philosophie is important today because it´s the base for what quality is produced in that company. You may think of it...

I got a PS3 in Jan 2008, and by my own admission, the games library and PSN were pretty bare. I only got the PS3 because I like the controllers better and have a special fetish for MGS and Gran Turismo, etc. The RRoD fiasco scared me too.

The PS3's game library is stellar now as is the PSN and general firmware features.

The market has really spoken re price. Sony can release 5 exclusives for every MS exclusive and it wont move consoles until the price comes down.

I finally got my PS3 two weeks after launch and haven't at all regretted the investment. I'd do again in a heartbeat. I did consider Xbox 360, but quickly changed my mind when I began to read all the RROD stories. With me, the price of either system never really factored into my decision. Reliability and familiarity swayed me to buy a PS3.

It was clear for me..I like tech stuff and new gadgets. When I was looking for a next gen system, I saw the Wii...but wasn't that impressed with it..(lol..not enough games and graphics were kind of a step back)

Then I looked at the 360..and talked to people who owned them..and after seeing the reliability issues, having to pay to go online..etc, I thought I would keep looking.

...and then I got looking into the PS3....And even though when I looked into it, there weren't many games out...I saw the potential of everything I could do with it..I mean compared to the other systems, this thing is a beast!

So my choice was clear....I haven't looked back since...I stayed with my PS2....lol, Just kidding..When I'm not playing the PS3, my girlfriend is watching blu-rays on it...She likes it as much as I do, and when your girlfriend is happy with your console...you're happy ;p

So for me...the PS3 wins. But that's just me. I have tried out the others, and they are fun, but not enough for me to want to go out and buy them and make the extra shelf space available for them.

Of course this is going to be a pretty one-sided questions too....what kind of response would you expect on a site called PSXextreme? I know there will be a few people that will say something about the 360..just to stir stuff up, and one poster who will say PC's are better...But we all know for the most part that it's going to be very PS3 Positive comments..and I'm okay with that...

At least in Mexico, the internet forums are plagued with comments of hate to the PS3 like "the PS3 has no games" (already discussed on PSXE)"the XBL is far better than the PSN" (and the time I asked why they called me fanboy) and so on.

And it's far more expensive than the 360 down here.

But older gamers mid 20's and beyond prefer the PS3 hands down

As I am lucky enough to have both systems they both have distinct advantages. The online experience on the 360 still cannot be matched by the PS3, private voice chat, party systems, ease of use) but the hardware is so unreliable. I think the PS3 is really hitting its stride now and if they lower the price people will increasily purchase it over the 360. But either way you go you'll have a great gaming expereince.

I paid the full price when it launched, and I will do it again when the next one comes out. I dont want to miss out on stuff like backwards compatability and other nice features when they start shedding parts to make them cheaper to produce.

If I had to choose today which system to pick first, it would be the 360. The online community and features are more established. The online store is better integrated. The downloadable movies has a better selection with more of them in HD.

As far as games go, there is no answer on the PS3 for Gears of War. Fallout 3 does not suffer from as many bugs and is the focus of the development team. And the extra year has created a better library of games at a cheaper price.

Those are facts, not opinions. You are asking about 'today'. Ask again in a few years and maybe it will be different. I am glad I have my PS3. I like having the option to watch Blue Ray movies (though I will never pay $30 for a disk). I have played through all of the major releases on the PS3. I also enjoy my Wii. Nothing quite like Wii Sports. Godfather is awesome on it. And Deadly Creatures wouldn't be the same on any other system.

Can we get back to more important things, like games?

Holy Cow guys. Whats with all the negativity?

Name me a game that is a third person shooter with a heavy emphasis on co-op and online multi-player on the PS3 that is a PS3 exclusive. Is there a game that does what Horde mode does?

Should we list all of the movies available on both systems? How about the Netflicks service? How about how I can stream TV from my media computer through my 360 so I can watch my recorded programs where ever I want?

You know, its one thing to be a fan, its another to be a blind fan. If you're going to call me out, then do it with proof. I'm telling it how it is.

BTW, you're the one who brought the subject up and invited commentary. If you can't take a remark thats of an opposing view then stop asking for comments.

Eek... This comment is plaqued with fanboism. Gears of War 2 is good and everything... but how many people bought a 360 for that game? Compared to how many people bought a PS3 for Killzone 2? I doubt the numbers are close, seeing that almost everyone I know has gone to PS3 JUST for Killzone 2.

Guy, thers something called the PlayTV for the PS3. Used for recording. And you can stream your PC data to your PS3. You can do all that on the PS3 and more. There are plenty of movies on the PSN. Most of them are in HD. Socom Confrontation is a spectacular 3rd person shooter. Resistance 2 has a sweet online co-op. Killzone 2 makes GoW look last gen. We get free online play, and the servers are NOT as laggy as everyone makes them seem. If anything, I never have lag issues.

Your not telling anyone how anything is. Your pulling sh** out your ass and calling them facts when really there are no facts and just fanboy talk.

If your X360 can handle a game like Killzone 2, then props.
If your X360 can last a year without getting the RRoD, then props.
If your X360 wont be replaced in the next year, forcing you to buy the new Xbox, then props.
If your X360 has anything to match the upcoming Ps3 exclusives, then props.

But you know you what, your X360 can't handle Killzone 2, Your X360 can't go on without ever getting the RRoD, you WILL spend more money on a new Xbox that comes out every 4 years, and Your X360 HAS FAR LESS EXCLUSIVES coming out than the PS3, and none of them CAN match PS3's exclusive list.

You keep talking about Gears of War 2, thats nice. How about we talk some G*d of War 3, anything on the X360 that can match that?

Enough proof for you? Facts? What else do you need? And none of this was fanboy talk.

First of all, Gears of War is just an example of a game that offers a ton of options and replayability with a community edge. I could use Halo 3, but that'll just make you guys go even more apesh**. The question was if you are a 'hardcore' gamer, which system is better suited for you? If you are buying a system for one game, you are not a hardcore gamer.

Overall, with all the bells and whistles, the 360 still has some advantages over the PS3. But if we ask this question again in a few years the answer could be different.

And don't talk about sales of KZ2. 1) its too early to know anything 2) Again, this article isn't about sales, its about how the hardcore gamer is served.

Well like Aftab said, Uncharted 1 & 2 alone are games worthy to compete with gears 2. Graphics wise, Uncharted wins hands down.

And since you bring up Halo, I'll bring up MGS4 which is a system seller. Oh and did you forget that the PS3 also has a video download service? Oh and you must not have read the article Ben or Arnold posted about the PS3 having more Grade A titles than the 360.

True, the 360 has more games, but for truly quality games, the PS3 is the answer. And even more is on the way this year.

bustin: YOU are the fool who tried to tell everyone that it's a "fact" that the PS3 doesn't have any games that can stand up to Gears. That's retarded. What game swept up at the AIAS Awards? It was called LittleBigPlanet. What game tallied the most Game of the Year nominations and awards from major game publications around the world in 2008? It was called Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. As far as I can see, Gears 2 didn't win a DAMN THING. Even the Video Game Awards on Spike gave it to GTAIV.

LBP, Uncharted, MGS4, and Killzone 2 EASILY stack up to Gears. At the very least, they're competitive. If you're not willing to even acknowledge it, I think we all know who the biased one here is.

@bustin - There is no PS3 answer to Gears. But that's only because there is no real answer to MGO and Socom on the 360 either, or LBP, or Motorstorm... or even Warhawk for that matter.

Actually there is no answer for Uncharted or Ratchet either!

There is also no answer to INfamous, or Heavy Rain!

I know what you mean though. But I think it's more because of the culture that surrounds us. Halo and Gears have become icons. If you watch the stupid gaming leagues, they are all playing 360 games.

I just really can't imagine saying I lived through this generation of systems without having played MGS4, Killzone 2, or LBP.

Those three games have just pushed this generation foward more than Gears and Halo, in my opinion.

The ps3 exclusives past and future offer more variety and quality than I will ever have time to take advantage of. Gears and Halo sound like good games but i think they're more than covered on the ps3 side.

i bought the ps3 60g on launch day and havent looked back, i have always been a ps fan right from the ps1 and even though the 360 came out first i waited until sony released their black dream machine and was rewarded with a well put together usefull peice of kit!
but i have to admit i broke and bout an xbox 360 just to play the gears or wars titles and they were worth it cos they are ace games and any gamer should play them!
but i haent played the 360 since i beta both games and i cant see any games in the future that want me to turn on the xbox and get deffened by the fan which scared the life outa me, when i first turned in on i thought it was broke!!
the ps3 is a grower and is starting to shine and will over come the dark force that is m$!!
and it already is!!

i think the only reason why the PS3 didn't slaughter the Xbox-360 was due to the price of it on launch and for the first year and a half it was out. Honestly, if the PS3 was the same price as the 360 and it was making sony a small profit then we would have seen the PS3 laughter the 360 in sales. I usually say the 360 is for kids because if you want a game console your more likely to get say Â£199 out of your parents compared to Â£300 or however much PS3's go for these days. Anyway by the time you have everything you need to play on aa 360 with live the cost is basically the same as the PS3.

My dad got me the 20gig PS3 for me for christmas he was a trooper pre-ordered it for me and everything. To this day he says he does not regret buying me the PS3 since he's seen how well it works and the way the movies and games look he's very very impressed.
I have a Wii i mostly play it for the RPG's Ps3 though is my first choice when i play my games. Wii is there for my final fantasy crystal chronicals and so my son can wip my butt in bowling LOL. Now back to bejeweled i go so addicted.

I did, and it was pre-ordered too. Without a doubt, it was the best investment of my life! Granted I had help from parents to pay for the hardware, but I got all the software myself. When all my friends were playing the Xbox, I waited with my PS2, and now who's laughing? We've got the better exclusives and theirs are breaking! hahaha

Waiting a year after launch as my beloved PS2 still had good life.

Bought the PS3, have not looked back!

As far as price, what are people bitching about? At about 200 more than a 360, only three things were necessary for me.

1. Reliability.
2. Blu Ray. ( Worth 400 on its own )
3. Longevity. (Hell, the original XBox had a new version within 2 years of launch)

Sony just seems to care more with backward compatibility and the forsight to build enough hardware into the product to last quite awhile.

You can expect the PS3 to last for the next 6plus years at least. 360, expect a new version in the next 2 years as they are going to get there butt kicked from this point on.

I for one say thank you to Sony. I originally bought the PS2 as the PS1 did so well and the new system included a DVD player, which at that time was revolutionary in a console system. 8-10 years later, same case now for the PS3 and Blu Ray.

Really, when anyone compares the two systems and looks at now, the future and the track record of Sony with Consoles,

THERE CAN BE ONLY 1 CHOICE!

All my friends have 360's and they all told me the same thing. " Dude sam, get a 360 cause then you can play Halo3 and GearsofWar, 360 has waaaay better games." But they really didnt know anything about the console, they just knew it had Halo3, and after playing Halo1 and 2 to death, I didnt wanna play Halo3, mostly all the people I know that play it are people who are new to the series and gaming in general. So I looked into it by just researching both system's, their games, and upcoming games, and decided I wanted the PS3, I made sure to ask people on their opinion but not rely on them for the truth because that's what they are... people, and I couldnt possibly be happier with my PS3, I cant stop playing Killzone2.

Big Ben I was one of the faithful who stood outside almost all night at Best Buy to get my S3. Reason was I HAD prepaid the full amount at an Ebgames store, but low and behold the amount of consoles were cut short. I was number 12 out of 15 in line, andddddd the amount of consoles were 11...yeah sucks donkey bssss. So I went to Best Buy, to find out the 60 gb would NOT be available when it reaches me at a lowly number 120+ something. But I stayed to try and get a 20 gb...and as the temp dropped and my toes got stiff I got in my car and left. But surprise surprise I got my system the following week. I don't have it now because something funky happened when I swapped hard drives but I had a replacement plan so I was good. Even with some of the tradeins I have made I prolly have a 3:1 ratio of PS3 games to Xbox 360 maybe even higher. This generation PS3 is the FPS king, and when the rpgs roll in my happiness will be complete. Till then I have my Xbox for Star Ocean, Ninja Gaiden, Lost Oddysey. They are both good systems but I'm a loyal Sony fan.

My first posting I think.
Ben & Arnold brilliant Site, Like the way you handle it love the stories and the style awesome.

The xbox360 because of its lower price tag has been bought by mums & dads. Microsofts some what obscure and muddy advertising for the arcade base model shows it as value for money.

I would guess Hardcore gamers would do their research and if wise come to the conclusion that the xbox360 just isnt worth it in the long run.

I bought my PS3 on launch and spent the price of a PC near enough on it. I haven't been happier with any games console as much as this one though. Its an awesome bit of kit.

Btw Bustin,

You mention streaming with the xbox360 ?

Look up playtv. Its only available in Europe right now, but it adds a dual tuner to the ps3 making it a tv that can record any channel at the same time. I have it its awesome. Also you can stream from your ps3 to your psp anywhere in the world. So I can go to australia attach my psp to a network in australia and watch my tv shows in the UK.. You were saying about streaming ?. Sorry but the 360 in no way compares to the media capabilities of the ps3. I can plug a usb hdd into my ps3 and watch films directly off of it. Can you do the same thing on the xbox360 ? I know you cant, you have to stream from a pc..The PS3 can also stream from a pc. It can also run Linux, sorry the ps3 wins hands down.

I have i owned the last 3 sony systems, and they have all been great so that's what I bought. MS doesn't support it's systems properly (based on original Xbox, maybe 4 years of games). But lately I have been thinking what is the point of both X360 and PS3 existing, if there was only one it would work better. They have essentially the same games with a few exclusives. Also sony is loosing money off of every system it makes, it would make more money if it simply just made games......oh well, I love my PS3.

I would say the reasons that got me to get a PS3 one the exclusives and two I go way back to the PSone so I knew what I was getting when I got my PS3. I have to admit before the Christmas price drop of 2007, I was thinking about an Xbox 360 but chose to wait a bit longer before making a choice.

While Xbox has a couple of good exclusives but the line up that PS3 announced that was coming in 2008 made the choice between the two easier.

And as for talks of losing third party exclusives I doubted Microsoft likes losing Bioshock, like or hated Dead Rising and maybe even Too Human.

well, I had the PS3 for quite a while now, and it was continually collecting dust under my TV. I am a PC FPS shooter addict, I spend all my time on the PC. But dont get me wrong I love other games on the PS3 especially that I own a LCD 1080p HD TV with 5.1 home theater system. But there was no games in the past.

UNTILL NOW, remarkably I am starting to buy more games for the PS3, the ratio used to be 3:1 PC games to PS3 now its 2:1 PS3 games for every purchase I make. My last purchase was Fear 2 PC Killzone 2 PS3 & Need for speed Undercover PS3. and not only me who is spending more time on it, More of my friends are coming over plus also both my brothers have left their PCs and are spending more time playing on the PS3. So, I have to say that if I didn't own one, I would have definitely got one at this time, and probably my brothers would too.

I use my PS3 more these days but do go back to my 360 for games I can't play on my PS3 ie Halo's etc and the Gears games and Mass Effect.

I am glad I own both systems. At the time I bought the 360 as the PS3 was put back to March and I wanted a next gen console, a year later I got my PS3 and I am so happy with it now. I also got the PS3 60gb one as I heard they were removing the backwards compatibility so I opted for one before they stopped making them. I love Killzone2 and Little Big Planet. MGS4 was excellent.

IF I had to choose now what console I would buy it would be the PS3 without shadow of a doubt but I would save like mad and get the 360 2nd for the exclusives you cant play on PS3. Plus the 360 is a lot cheaper now than when I first bought it.

The onyl real regret would be that the PS3 is not backwards compatible.

What up, peeps. Well I for one got my PS3 at launch and haven't look back since. I don't have the 360 but would like to own one. There are a few reason I don't own one well the RROD of course and I feel the 360 doesn't really have a impressive lineup when it come to the games. Most of their exclusives I have enjoyed playing like Halo and Gears but that about it.

The funny thing is like some of what you guys said either you had a 360 and traded it in for a PS3 or your friend(s) did the same thing. I have noticed the same with family and friends. My sister for instance got a 360 and PS3 but I notice the other day her video game collection for the 360 was alot smaller than her collection for the PS3. Granted she got her 360 way before she got her PS3.

So I really think Ben is asking a valid question with all things consider.

The main reason why I got a PS3 is because I have always sticked with sony for gaming (except for my super nintendo and game boy that I had before I got a PS1). I have NEVER had any kind of problem with the PS1, PS2, or the PSP so I figured that PS3 would simply offer everything that those systems offered and more. I had heard rumors that the PS3 had a stronger and faster processor that the 360. After that, my mind was made up and no one could pay me a billion dollars to choose a 360 instead. Also, I knew that if I got a 360 that I would have to sell all my PS1 and PS2 games (since it doesn't play 'em, DUH) because every time I upgrade to a new system I usually get rid of my old system & during that time sony was within its last months of making the 60gb. (I got it in July of 2007). Even though I only have 5 games for it, I have downloaded over 40 demos & 20 movie/game trailers so I'm quite satisfied although I look forward to being the first in line to get GT5.

All of my 360 friends are now seeing that my choice was better than theirs - almost every single one of them have had their 360(s) fail on them and they also have payed some hefty sums on online play while I haven't payed a dime since day one of owning a PS3 (I've had it since July of 2007. It's one of the last 60gb. systems ever made.)

I bought the PS3 because well it was a Playstation.

Before i bought a PS3 i still had my PS1, 2 PS2's, PSP, and original xbox....all the PS consoles got played loads.

Then the PS3 came out i didnt really take notice...i didnt even realise it has released untill i went to Curry's and saw it lol.

The when the proce came down to Â£350 i got one (just before 60GB was discontinued).

At this time i still wasnt intending to buy a 360 ... i just saw the ads on t.v for it that annoyed the hell out of me.

Then 2 years later after buying a PS3 i got a 360 (not because i wanted it but my step-dad and brother did) its in the lounge and never gets played by me...i still think its a waste of money.

ALL my games i buy are on PS3.

I bought my ps3right before the 60gb was discontinued, it was damaged by a powersurge later though so i bought a 360 cuz it was cheap and waited for GAME (the retailer) to fix my ps3. I played the xbox 360 for about a week, completing gears one, gears two and fable II. Then i started on mass effect. that was almost two months ago. When my ps3 came back, however, i stopped playing the xbox 360 and often wonder why i bothered buying it. My gold subscription just seems to be wasting away...only thing i really liked about it was private chat and a slightly more stable network.

I've always been a Sony fangirl. However, there are merits to the 360. Yet, honestly as the game lineup begins to improve for the PS3, especially with their own exclusives, it really is turning into the better choice.

Also, for those complaining about the price, let's look at the specs. On 360's launch day, in order to have the same specs as a PS3 (Premium packs for both) you would have to spend an extra $100 in addition to PS3's price. Not many take that into consideration. It's like seeing a "Buy 1 get 1 free" sale and not realizing the product is twice the amount it was before the sale.

Now, as for the wii, I tend not to lump it into the Gen War. Granted, it is definitely a revolutionary console. However, in my humble opinion, it is a very different genre, not to be lumped in with the heavy weights. 360's and PS3's demographic varies greatly from the wii's. It's all apples and oranges, folks.
