Konami Hiring For New Metal Gear Title

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots

The legendary Metal Gear Solid series has generated a massive following worldwide, and the millions of fans were disappointed to learn that last year's Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots would be Snake's final adventure. However, while it may have been Snake's final mission, the "Metal Gear" name isn't about to die.

According to Kotaku, a recent Konami job listing points towards the the start of development for a new project with "Metal Gear" in the title. You can follow the Japanese link at Kotaku, but the point is this- "Staff wanted for a new development in the Metal Gear series!!" Well, that's certainly exciting. We're not entirely sure why Kotaku doesn't specifically point out that "Solid" is absent from the title, which falls in line with Konami's plans of releasing Snake from his tireless duty. We're also not so quick to call this project a "spin-off" or "sequel," for obvious reasons. There is every possibility that whatever the new "Metal Gear" game is, it will only hold the familiar name of the series and be presented in something that's closer to IP form. Kojima and Co. have already stated they wish to start from scratch and appeal more to the Western gaming audiences, which likely hints at a complete overhaul for their most heralded franchise. What's important, though, is that the name will live on, and it's also encouraging to learn that the early stages of development may have already begun.

As more details leak out concerning the new Metal Gear - whatever it is - we'll bring them to you as fast as humanly possible. After MGS4, we've all seen what Konami and Kojima are capable of producing, and that puts everyone in an uber-anticipatory state for any new games.

Keep your eyes peeled for ads where they say they are looking for a "western" developer...

MGS4 had excellent success as a PS3 exclusive title.

At this point I'm not placing any bets...I've seen what the buying power of MS has done so far...I hope it doesn't happen, but I'm not betting on it. I don't think it would be an exclusive, but I wouldn't rule out Multiplat.

Kojima said that the only reason it made it to PS3 first was because he got the PS3 dev kits first.

Also if hes not producing it anymore then the team will be more inclined to go multiplat.

Thirdly It just makes sense to now go multiplat with recession and all they need all the money they can get

I wouldn't want to just straight deprive xbots from the experience, but I will say putting a Metal Gear on 360 would certainly dumb it down, so I don't want it to happen either. MGS4 would have suffered immensely.

Well Johnny is one of the original genome soliders from MGS1, and if you remember they all contain genes of or some blood trait of the big boss, so that makes him in some way part of snakes family tree. therefore why he looks like him.
I think Kojima will do a complete overhaul for MG5, so new characters, new story and perhaps a whole new timeline. that would be cool :)

Kojima isnt like the dudes at valve(or many other developers for that matter),he has integrity and wont sacrifice mgs 5 quality for te sake of 360 sales,but the Konami bosses might have the final say

wtf are you talking about, Valve didn't "sacrifice integrity" by deciding to port games to the 360 over the PS3. Valve is a computer software company and since the 360 is far easier to code for than the PS3 Gale made the decision to not bring Left4Dead over to the PS3 due to money and time. Have you not seen how bad the port of the orange box is on the PS3 compared to the 360? You seem to forget game makers are in it for making money, not this so called "integrity" you speak of.

Some do hold to artistic integrity, what karnelli is saying is that Valve and others don't mind if their work is made into trash (EA release of Orange Box on PS3) for the sake of gaining a larger market. In this case, the game would be made trash if it was held back in scope so as to work with the 360's limitations.

As long as they keep the same gameplay and have a good storyline I'm sold on this game. I'm cool with it coming out for the ps3 and 360, II hope they don't put a watered down version of MG5 on the wii lmao..

man its probably gonna be a good game all mgs have been at least to me and i wouldnt be suprised if ms tries to buy this game off of ps3 like so many others and its gotten to the point where it is just annoyin y cant the ps3 be able to keep the titles that have been with them since the beginning like star ocean cuz cmon star ocean would have been great on ps3 not just as a 360 exclusive that was just gay

I hope its the same type of gameplay with just different characters.. I still dont know how they think they need to appeal more to thew western gamers..they appeal to me as the best games company in the world..but shmyeah Kojima always looks for more!!

Hope it's only for the PS3 (or ported from the PS3 to the 360) because if they're aiming to make another revolutionary title like MGS4 (and most likely, if Mr. Kojima is at the helm, then it's certain lol) they will need all the new space they can get.
Even with compression, they will take up the DVD-9's space, I guarantee you lol

Also, I recently got MGS4 (and although it's the first MGS I've played, I do know excessive backstory to the other MGS's, including the chronology of the events)and I have been really enjoying it. I hope that this new MG title will be terrific as MGS4, is not, superior. Both ways can work, it's fine by me.

How has it been milked? Each one of them has been really entertaining to watch and different directors have helmed the T movies, so there's always a little different twist added. The story too is almost always related to the central plot and a solid continuation of it.

Yes, there are some weird and confusing stuff (I know for a fact lol) but the T franchise is not milked.

indeed, i wish they left the Alien Saga at Alien 3 it ended prefectly. just like MGS4 ended perfectly. i dotn want to see shitty irelevent titles coming out. so far every MGS title has been fantastic, and thast how i want it left, MGS4 pretty much patched everything up, theres nothign more to tell, i dont want a sequel with raiden defending his family honour from.....Cats or something, i dunno i just think they should leave the series with the respect it has.

I think The Alien trilogy is fantastic, i actually loved the beginning of Alien 3 and the fate of the male lead and little gril from 2, most people i know hated that move of the screenplay, but i found it very effective, Alien 3 woudltn have worked if ripley had company.

People pissed off at the death of Hudson and Newt in the beginning of Alien3 were nothing more than hardcore Aliens fans and not TRUE fans of the Alien Franchise.

I agree, the Alien trilogy is amazing and I regard it as the greatest there is.

Right because an Aliens2 wasn't going to be a step backward..pff

Aliens turned the mysterious alien into nothing more than bugs that explode from a few smart gun bursts and made "space marines" the equivalent of the three stooges in space.

Alien3 (assembly cut) actually had atmosphere and the feel of dread. I doubt you've ever seen the Assembly Cut and for that I feel bad.

But you cant deny the iconic imagery James Cameron made for Aliens, scenes like finding th cast of A1 in. The Alien Queen, The Scene with the lift (Which even MGS4 payed tribute to on Act 4). James Cameron took the series and brought a new different life to it, Yes Alien was better, but if the seuqel was simular it probaly wouldnt have been such a success. I think he did a brilliant job presonally, cettainly better than the french director on Resurrection (Which is a shame, hes actually done some good films. i say role on Alien 5 thast the only move the Alien Series can progress.
