No GameStop/EB Online PS3 Preorders Before Launch
Preordering the PS3 has been a problem from the instant they began at GameStop/EB on October 10. Several other retailers moved on to allow online preorders, but due to the massive shortage, GameStop wouldn't start any such program.
Well, there's some news on that front, thanks to the company newsletter. In it, a statement reads-
"Due to the high demand and limited availability of the PlayStation 3 system, we will begin offering online bundles only after our initial in-store pre-orders are filled, which is anticipated before Christmas. Check our PlayStation 3 page for the latest information."
Does this mean prospective consumers can preorder a PS3 and receive it before Christmas? Or does this simply imply the retailer might finally fill all their preorders before Christmas? Whatever the facts are, if they're planning to do online preorders, there must be some more PS3 shipments on the horizon for the holidays...we just don't know when or how many. And we're willing to bet Gamestop doesn't know, either.
