Insomniac Preparing Resistance 2 DLC, Patch Details

Well, we certainly expected to be bringing you news concerning downloadable content for Resistance 2 before now, but it seems Insomniac needed more time.

As reported on the MyResistance.net message boards, Insomniac's EGMBrian has confirmed that recent rumors regarding DLC and a new patch for R2 are definitely true. This week - March 25 - we can expect the details to arrive at the Game Developers Conference, and we're hoping that we'll get all kinds of good stuff to enhance both the single and multiplayer experience. As for the patch, we figure there are a number of things that need fixing or upgrading, especially in terms of the multiplayer. Designers will often patch certain weapons and even the gameplay itself, depending on player feedback and tweaks the designers need to implement. We'll probably get the standard assortment of map packs for the online mode, but if they're willing to take everything a step further and give us something extra for the single-player campaign, we'll be more than satisfied. R2 was definitely one of the best games of 2008 so you can't really say it's "broken" to the point where we "need" patches and updates, but additional content is always appreciated.

Also, don't forget that Insomniac has announced that they are working on a new PS3 exclusive. We're all assuming it's a new Ratchet and Clank, but they haven't made any announcement just yet. Perhaps that will also drop at the GDC...?

Hopefully the patch will focus on the local splitscreen co-op. I would like to see the ability to choose a profile for 2nd player online. That way two people can work on their stats at the same time on one console! Heard something about this around launch, but...
Little Big Planet made it work!

Also, how about more upgrade options? More maps, more missions, some cool R2 stuff to go along with Retribution. You can "infect" your PSP, but what about the PS3!?

As Buzz puts it, "Give me...more...premium...content!"

Good I can't wait. Put this one down a while ago to play some of the newer games that came out. Can't wait to pick it up again. Hopefully there will be some new maps for online play. But I am really wishing for new missions to do in coop. That was one of my favorite things about R2.

Only thing I can say that would be great would be new Maps for the online. More co-op missions would be ok. Not sure what else they could do for campaign mode.

something great would be add more wepons to multiplayer bring back the flame thrower and that electri gun from RFOM and more muliplayer modes because theres just skirmish, deathmatch, team deathmatch, and core control, adding more modes would be awsome but maybe its to much to ask for lol

I just want to be able to play the campaign on co-op. I like the co-op that they have online but it would be nice to have the option to play the campaign with a friend. And I agree with everyone else about signing on with more than one PSN name when playing co-op online. I would like to see some maps from the first game. I can't remember the name because it's been so long since I've played it but I really liked the map that had all the bridges up in the trees. I would definitely like to play that one again. More weapons are always a plus too :)

Hey I'd welcome this, if its good maybe even pay for it, I'm still hangin in the Killzone but it would be nice when I'm done to get "The PSXE Resistance" clan back together (We didn't have much time before KZ2 dropped)

Been looking for an excuse to get back to it.
