EA Teases Madden 10 By Unveiling First Official Screenshot

Last year, we finally saw the long-running and revered Madden franchise reclaim much of its former glory, and this year, we're all expecting the best football simulator yet.

What you're looking at here is the first official screenshot for Madden 10, as revealed by EA boss Peter Moore over at his blog. Moore is already calling this newest installment in the series "the most detailed and comprehensive edition in the history of the franchise," and he also says you should be able to spot some of the detail upgrades in this screenshot. Added Moore:

"We're hitting the real sweet spot of development for this generation of consoles as the team is really hitting its stride in squeezing every ounce of power and capability from the hardware. In fact, the Madden team is taking such dramatic strides this year that we're in the position to go deep on features and details earlier than we've ever done before."

We should be seeing more announcements later in the week - figures that it would correspond with the GDC - but for now, we'll just marvel at this sweet picture here. Football fans everywhere shouldn't be too upset with the fact that EA has basically cornered the market by snapping up all the NFL rights...why should we complain if something like Madden 10 turns out to be unbelievably awesome? Stay tuned for more details. 

By the way, is anyone else concerned that all these sports titles are gonna have misleading names in the new decade...?  "Madden 10" sounds like its the tenth Madden, doesn't it?  When it was Madden 97 and Madden 04, nobody would mistake that for something else, but now...

Sounds good to me. I've been playing madden since 94 and I'm ready for 2010, hopefully they keep improving this game.

Roomate (Bill) is a diehard Bill's fan and he bought a TO jersey the day after he signed, I love having another thing to make fun of him for.

btw Madden was great on the PS2, I don't really care for it on the PS3

Yeah, but screenshots don't show FRAMERATES, and that's what the previous Madden on PS3 was lacking, compared to the competition.

Framerate was only an issue for Madden 08, which ran at 30 fps. The issue was fixed for '09, and both the PS3 and 360 version ran at the SAME 60 fps.

You mean every sports title except 2k sports is gonna have a problem with the 2010 and above thing.

If they don't do something about it, once 2097 arrives, we'll have a double title with the 1997 version - Madden 97.

But then again, will Earth even reach 2097? 8-0

Did I really see someone say they want 2K back? 2k was never better then madden. How about 09 the Frame rate was the exact same as the 360 version unlike 08 was.

Only sports game the 2k does better then EA is basketball. nba 2k series is by far the best hands down

Also add College Hoops 2k series. They destroy March Madness in everyway. 2k football needs to come back. Madden is the same crap every year.

I wish no evil on Mr. John Madden himself. I do, however, wish that some the ppl at EA sports commit Seppuku (for disgracing themselves and the Madden franchise).

I'm on a Madden boycott until they get some competition. Some competition, to light some fire until those lazy EA Sports developers' asses. I still feel robbed for buying Madden 08. Those textures were TERRIBLE!

Nothing they are doing with Madden is anything that couldnt be done on a hefty $30 DLC add-on, But those mad geniuses at EA still find a way to sucker us out of $60 once a year every year

The photo seems really realistic. If there's one pro so far I find about this game, it's that its graphics look spectacular.

Me and my 3 friends all thought it was a real photo for a minute lol

Screen shot looks awesome ! I've been playing the Madden series since it debuted on the old 10-bit Snes and Sega Genesis systems and while there have been other video football games, I always kept coming back to Madden even when the 2k series was around.

The only video football game I liked as much as I enjoy Madden were the old Sony 989 sports NFL Gameday series. The first two games of that series were awesome then 989 screwed it up.

NFL Gameday as rumor has it caused EA to scrap their first Madden game on the PS1 back in the mid 1990's !

nfl 2k was no where near better then madden..but I guess it's a matter of opinion.

@phade2blaq you're right Gameday was the only comp to madden until 989 made it terrible

My main gripe about Madden is the fact that EA won't let us use created plays/playbooks and all time teams online. Other than that, I have no issues with Madden !
