Resident Evil 6 A Long Ways Off

We hope you're satisfied with Resident Evil 5 because if you're holding your breath for the next installment, you're not gonna make it.

In speaking to The Gadget Show's Jason Bradbury, RE5 producer Masachika Kawata has said that Resident Evil 6 could be in development for the next eight years. In fact, despite earlier supposed confirmations, Kawata won't even say they've decided to make another RE entry. According to the last update, Capcom said RE6 would be a complete departure from the standard tradition of the long-running franchise; many interpreted this as meaning we'll finally be able to shoot and move at the same time. But either way, people are expecting a completely new look the next time we see RE...and now, it seems we may not see it. Well, at least not for quite a while. Said Kawata:

"We haven't decided whether we're going to make Resident Evil 6 yet. But if we do, it could take anywhere up to eight years, but hopefully only four."

Four years certainly sounds a heck of a lot better than eight, but even that puts the next RE in 2013, which many die-hard fans may consider unacceptable. We'd like to say that we expect to hear more RE-related information in the near future, but after such a statement, it's difficult to believe. Maybe RE5 is worth playing through again...?

BUT they could focus on Devil May Cry 5, DMC & RE PSP and maybe an IP in between the 8 years

Hopefully capcom changes it back to just controling one character. RE5 kinda reminds me of army of two.

Simple question here. Does anyone give a flying squirrel's nuts about what is out NOW. I know it's important to look to the future, but COME ON!! MG5, RE6, GTAV. Can't we take a little time to appreciate what is already in front of us. Anyone ever hear of "stop and smell the roses" I remember hearing about what the PS4 would be like when the PS3 was in it's infancy. Gee, I wonder how great God of War 4 is going to look. Can't wait till Killzone 3 comes out. I'm not blaming you Ben, I know you have to keep pumping out those articles, but people don't seem to enjoy what they have. If I were a little kid playing Super Mario with my dad and said "I can't wait for Super Mario 2" He woulda smacked the living dog teeth outta me :)

Right on! Hell I occupy my time by playing older games I over looked MGS4 turned me on to the series so I just recently pick up the collection pack and started playing them.

Yeah, they're incredible. Don't forget to get Portable ops. It has a full blown story line with original voices. If you don't have a psp, you can youtube the entire storyline.

RE5 is very much so worthy of going through agian and agian, there is tons of unlockables. Im on my 3rd go and im not bored of it in anyway.. escpecially now that ive picked up the guide for all those BSAA emlems,treasures, and hidden maps.

Woah! Thats almost a decade for one damn game! Remember when games were made by bored ass GUYs (singular!). Now they are surpassing what it takes to make a movie!

It'd take them that long to just let us move and shoot at the same time? The core of the game only needs to have one crucial flaw fixed in order for it to be fantastic.

What the man......we have to wait so long?
I thought developers are getting the hang of developing games for Blu-Ray?
Anyway, who knows, maybe there will be no more Wesker or Umbrella.

Well think of it this way, how many resident evil games came out between RE3 and RE4? Well there was Code Veronica, RE Zero, RE Outbreak 1&2, RE Dead Aim, and probably a few that I don't know about. So saying that RE6 is a long ways off is in no way saying that it will be a while before we see another RE game
