Ratchet And Clank Future: A Crack In Time Discovered

Update: Just so everyone is aware, this won't be on the PSN; it is a disc-based game. The details are up over at the official PlayStation blog. Sorry for the confusion.

Original Story:

Well, that was fast. We just got finished telling you to expect a new Ratchet and Clank announcement soon, and we already have the title.

As numerous sources are reporting (Joystiq, PS3Center, etc.), the previously hinted at "Ratchet and Clank: ACIT" has been revealed as Ratchet and Clank: A Crack in Time thanks to a recent French press release. The game will be a downloadable title and pick up where Quest for Booty left off, where Ratchet is out to save Clank from the evil Dr. Nefarious. You will time travel in the game (sounds like fun!) and Joystiq has suggested that it will probably carry the same Booty DLC price of $15. Insomniac is bound to come forward with more details within the next few days - the cat's out of the bag, guys! - so stay tuned for those. In the meantime, we have to say: we were hoping this would be a full Blu-Ray title, and we're starting to wonder if R&C will always arrive in the form of a digital download. The debate rages as to whether or not the physical form of media will survive in the video game world, and it's easy to spot the shifts in regards to certain franchises. Perhaps R&C is cut out for the PSN but what if they planned to make Resistance 3 only for the PSN...? Well, that probably won't happen.

Anyway, keep it here for more up-to-date info concerning A Crack in Time. This is one of the most popular and critically acclaimed franchises in video game history, so it deserves your respect.

damn, i was looking forward too getting this game up until i heard it was DLC only... here in canada, sony shafted us with those psn cards, so i have no way of buying it... (no credit cards either..)

well, in canada, apparently, theres some law stopping sony from selling the cards here, but for some reason, this law has no effect on microsoft, nintendo, itunes, and other cards... only diff I see between XBL cards and PSN cards is ms points vs. psn real cash $1=$1 deal... that might be the problem, but i can't see it...

Another DLC title? That's fine but I'd be happier for a full blown retail game. Love how they are continuing the theme of gluteous maximus references.

@mordikai1 - You can buy MasterCard gift cards in place of PSN or credit cards. That's how I do my DLC shopping.

i tried this with "vanilla mastercards" and it didn't go through... so i gave up on it... might try again though seeing as the r2 map pack, and skins came out today...

In terms of quality, NO, it isn't diferent, Quest for Booty is definitely a Ratchet & Clank quality game (so much fun)..

In terms of length.. YES, is sadly diferent, is just about 3 hours max of gameplay. Is extremely short.

However, is it worth it? Hell yeah ;)

where did you hear it was dlc cause i saw this on 3 other sites got all happy and checked to make sure it was on bluray but none said either bluray or dlc just it comes in fall

so i thought that it would be a full games cause fall is when insomniac releases all there games

also dose anyone know when or if insomniac is going to fix the stats issue in the new resistance update???

Some more high quality DLC is never bad.

Would be nice if they re-released all these DLC episodes together on a disc for those unable or unwilling to make purchases on the PSN.

Its great they are making it Disc based. But even if it was DLC it would be cool too, until I read your coment I was thinking maybe they were going the serial route, releasing in episodes like PAX or Watchmen.

Cant wait Tools of Destruction is one of my favorite next gen games, its my go to game when eveveything else gets boring. Quest for booty was disc based in Austrailia hope we get lucky either way Im gettin this one.

I'll definitely pick this one up....

R&C Tools of Destruction was awesome and it was actually my first R&C game.

I remember it was fairly early on in the PS3's lifetime and at that very stage there wasn't a lot to choose from and at that stage I had all the worthwhile games already. Actually passed up R&C a couple of times before.

But I eventually bought as a last resort game until something better came along. And I must admit I was pleasantly surprised to say the least. I had so much fun playing that game, and it totally changed my perception of games I would usually call ''kids games'' if you know what I mean. If it wasn't for R&C I probably would never have picked up LBP and actually enjoyed it.

So happy that they have the name. Ratchet and Clank are one of my all time favorite video games of all time. Some people call them " Children" games but i really don't think so. Although i didn't really like tools of destruction because it was too easy but i really liked Quest for Booty. I guess they were just trying to get used to the new PlayStation. Lets hope they really work hard for the ratchet experience. By the way Ben you should have a " What is your favorite Ratchet game" poll. Love you Insomniac!
