World At War Map Pack 1 Tops One Million Downloads

Treyarch really stepped it up with Call of Duty: World at War last year, and the fans have been happy ever since. And, as they often say, the proof is in the pudding...or in this case, the numbers.

According to GamersDigest, Activision has announced that there have been over 1 million downloads of the World at War Map Pack 1, and it managed to reach this impressively lofty plateau in only its first weekend of availability! This pack contains four new maps (Nightfire, Station, Knee Deep and Verruckt) and if you haven't yet had the pleasure, you can pick it up on the PlayStation Network for $9.99, or on the Xbox Live Marketplace for 800 Microsoft Points. Said Treyarch Studio lead Mark Lamia:

"I'm proud that the team at Treyarch delivered an experience that so many people are enjoying. We're excited that the success of Call of Duty: World at War Map Pack 1 will continue to drive the popularity of the games Nazi Zombie mode, competitive multiplayer and chart-breaking success online."

There's no doubt that Treyarch produced a winner last year, and although some will say it didn't quite leap over the very high bar set by Infinity Ward's Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, most will admit that World at War could very well be the best WWII shooter ever. At the very least, there are already over a million people who enjoy the experience enough to fork over a little more cash. Hey, it'll get you more gameplay, so what's the problem?

Havent touched the game since Killzone 2 was released but the new levels do help. The new Nazi Zombies level looks the most interesting though

Yeah, Verruckt is a great level for zombies. Very addicting.

Only thing I wish though.. I wish they made the zombie mode last longer. Granted I only play with my RL friends on XBL but you'd think they could tone it down a bit for only 2-3 people, mainly 2. My friends and I always make it to level 12 or so and then we die. And it only takes like what? 20 minutes to get to level 12? Kinda frustrating but still lots of fun nonetheless. =)

Yes, it was a good effort no doubt, however I have not bought into the DLC; and probably won't for any game now. I would rather keep my pennies for the actual games themselves; anything left over will be for newer titles. Once the experience is done, it is done for me :)

Q!

I didn't buy mine, someone shared with me :) being in a clan has it's perks lol, and nice ppl haha, but i wonder if it is included in the 1 million? so that means if everyone used the 5 dl they're allowed to have for diff ps3's thhheeennnn that's either a hell of a lot or not a lot at all lol. but still, wonder if sharing affects the money the game makers get...

Well this is one of many to be release, but they have to keep having content to last until November when that next great game comes out!

LegendaryWolfeh & MSB 007: If I'm understanding correctly, and I think I am, I don't want to hear about how you basically stole money from Sony's and Treyarch's pockets.

Now, before either of you get your drawers in a bunch, listen to me, and listen good. Neither Arnold nor Ben can afford for knuckleheads to come here bragging about games, DLC, or anything else acquired by illegal means. "Shared" DLC means stolen DLC, so if you really want to participate in that sort of thing, don't talk about it here. Consider yourself warned...

I guess I'm lame for spending $9.99 on that DLC, for me and the homies. Apparently CODMW2 is going to have some kind of zombie massacre fun as well.

Nah, BeezleDrop, when ya need ta gun down some zombies, it's a craving that HAS to be answered. I bought the DLC, and I'll gladly buy it for CODMW2 if they come up with a coolly different scenario in which to slay 'em. heheh

The new maps are crap. The zombie map is not as good as the old one.

Okay, yeah, regardless of your personal views on the matter, we really can't allow talk of "sharing" or things like that (you know, ROMs and stuff).

It may not be in the Comment Policy, but let's just say it's an unwritten rule.

I agree, I'll buy CODMW2 DLC mappacks as well. The new zombie map is fun, wish we always had more zombie mappacks. I hope the developers keep pushing the zombie idea and expand it to multiplayer maps, increase it from max 4 players to like 8 or more. The whole idea could be a separate game itself and would get so many sales...
