Game Informer: MAG Is A FPS
As time wears on, Sony's ambitious and innovative MMO, MAG, continues to rise on the radar of gamers and game journalists alike. But we're still a little thin on details; we can't even confirm the picture you see here is real, and so far, SCEA has only clarified that it won't be an iteration of the SOCOM franchise (that idea was based on a misinterpretation of a quote by SCEA boss John Koller).
But it appears we'll get a big unveiling in the new Game Informer, and wonder of wonders, it seems that MAG will be a...FPS? Or, if that's not entirely accurate, it seems as if it'll be viewed from a first-person perspective. A PlayStation forum member posted up this evidence a little while ago, and it's a few zoomed-in pages from the magazine in question. As you can see, "FPS" is included in that detailed description - which we can't wait to read more about - and this is bound to raise a few eyebrows. We haven't seen any gameplay videos for the game; when it was unveiled at E3 last year, we only saw a teaser trailer that didn't show off any real footage. And up to this point, most people were assuming the game would be in standard third-person format, similar to something like SOCOM. But it seems Sony is going another way with this promising title, and if we step back and take a look at the entire project, it may be the ideal plan. A first-person view with 256 players on the map at once...? Can you say intense? Don't drool all over the keyboard...
The more we see and hear about MAG, the more intrigued we become. There's just so much in the way of opportunity and possibility; it's almost mind-boggling, so we'll certainly keep you updated on any and all new developments.

I think KZ2 has raised the bar so high, even Sony themselves - or at least other Sony studios will find it hard to beat. Grant it though, GoWIII and Unchartered II will be up there...
So its all video game goodness in the next few months... looking forward to it all.
Jury still out on MAG though... we'll have to see it to believe it.

The big thing about MAG (no pun intended) is the massive multi-player battles. It will be interesting to see (in future) whether that same platform can be used in any other gaming genre besides FPS.

MAG is a FPS, so most of you KZ2 lovers aren't going to get it because "it satisfies your FPS" needs? Have a little variation please. I'm sure you'll all say the same about Call of Duty 4: Modern Warefare 2.

like on counter strike source you can do something to make the player limit higher and i love 64men servers on large custom maps
this will be great IMO, sounds like a very solid idea, but i hope theres party options so you and your group of friends can always be a group or soemthing
please add in that kind of stuff guys, not enough games support this kind of ease of access
