GameStop Employee: Silver Dualshock 3 Controllers In June

Okay, so we're not worthy to get different colors for the PlayStation 3, but at least we'll get an option for our Dual Shock 3 controllers.

As posted at GamingVice, a GameStop employee reveals that the silver Dual Shock 3 controllers for the PlayStation 3 will start arriving in stores in June. He says they had to "re-sticker" the current stock of controllers; changing the description from "PlayStation 3 Dualshock Controller" to "PlayStation 3 Dualshock Controller Black." Then, they got the word that the new silver gamepads would be coming around in a few months time, so if you want to spice up your entertainment setup a bit and you need another controller, you might want to wait until June. We're still hoping that Sony will see fit to send some of those fresh PS3s our way; the Ceramic White and Matte Silver units would definitely look pretty in certain living rooms. But apparently, Sony just thinks that Americans only care about black electronics while the Japanese desire a color change. What's that about? We keep hearing rumors that the differently colored PS3 machines will eventually show up in the U.S., but it hasn't happened yet.

But what good is it to have a nice shiny silver controller without a nice shiny silver PS3 to go with it? For example, the silver PS2 controller certainly matches the console, as it should. That's only logical.

I still have my sixaxis, lol. Hopefully i can pick up a cheap black ds3 when the silvers are out. I would hate having a silver controller with a black ps3.
We eventually got silver PSPs over here in the states, so maybe we will get silver PS3s?

I have a Japanese silver controller that works just fine for me! I dont understand why someone would wait other than shipping costs and the overall wait. And it does seem a little late to be bringing the silver controllers out now.

A silver PS3 to go with a silver controller, that's almost like suggesting a silver PS2 to go with a silver dualshock 2, whoever heard of such non-sense?

ok let's say they come out with a silver ps3 and i decide to buy one.

now can i transfer my saves over to this new ps3 and still be able to use them, along, with being able to still get any trophies with it? OR, would i have to start all over again?

If the save files aren't copy protected (they are rarely) you can copy them onto a USB hard drive or flash drive. You can then copy them over to the other PS3. The trophies should stay with you as long as you use the same PSN account with both PS3's

Just save your saved data on a flash drive, transfer saves. You should be able to get those trophies on the new ps3. You will get a new psn account for the new ps3 though since the psn account is saved in the internal memory and not the hard drive.

Yes, you'll need an external HDD and then you'll back it up. then you hook it up to your new ps3 and then restore it with the stuff you had before

If you have a large enough portable HDD (I used an ipod) you can actually copy EVERYTHING over to your old PS3: saves, game data, settings, user accounts, videos, etc. There is an option that allows you to backup your PS3. It's perfect if you are upgrading you HDD or switching consoles.

ok i know you can copy the save files. i've done that. what i mean is that if i copy the save files to a new ps3 would i still be able to get any trophies with that save file? example... gta iv.

i've heard that you cant get any new trophies on an old save file from a different ps3.

it prompts you to either create a new account or use an existing one (both of them master accounts)

If justice does exist there will be no more gamestop to talk about.Now all that's left is to pray the FTC take them down.

No offence to any gamestop employees but buying a used game for $12 and selling it for $56 should be illegal.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaw why silver??? Can't it be white - that's such a great looking color. Oh well...Silver PS2s...definitely mean that there will be a Silver PS3...but I'll go with black thank you very much. Or even better.......the Yakuza 3 themed PS3 YEAAA now that's sick!

I have had a White DualShock 3 controller since November. Since I live in NYC, I was able to walk into a store (not GameStop) and buy one. It's durable controller too as I have slammed it on the floor due to lag in Call of Duty 4 and it still works.

I didn't throw it...

... I spiked it.

i bought a silver ds2 for my black ps2 for two reasons
1: it looks better
2: i wouldnt have to work out and follow the cables which controller was in which port, i always put the silver one in de 1st port and the black one in the 2nd

i did find out btw that shipping a ds3 is way cheaper then buying it here, you can import a (black/silver/white) ds3 for 37,50 euros to the netherlands, and a ds3 will cost you 50 euros in a local store.

still i bought one here, cuz my dad didnt want to lend me his creditcard:-( now i have a black ds3 and a black sixaxis

Type CD-WOW into google I got my White ds3 from there and it was cheeper than the stores and gives u the choice of black White or silver

I like my black PS3, colours do not matter to me at all. But it would make complete sense if they brought out the silver console w/controller so once i see this happen i'll hold off buying a DS3.

One thing I would love for Sony to do is to give gamers a choice between the DualShock and the Sixaxis. I actually liked the lighter controller without rumble, and so far I've disabled rumble at every opportunity - it adds nothing - for me. So why do I have to pay for the unused rumble actuators in the controller?

If we can have to SKUs for the PS3, can we also have two SKUs for the controllers? One with rumble and one ($5 less expensive) without?

as much as i'd love to have a silver ps3, i am content with my 60gb black one :)

however if they would've had different colors at launch, then i totally would've taken a silver one!

heck, the white one looks pretty sweet as well

It all makes sense to me ! I'm beginning to think Sony is letting some kids do their marketing planning.
