Konami Announces Zombie Apocalypse, Set For Q2
Zombies are back in vogue these days, as we had the blockbuster release of Resident Evil 5 last month and the arrival of Burn Zombie Burn! on the PlayStation Network a few weeks ago. But if you still haven't gotten enough of the shuffling dead, Konami has good news for you.
Today, Konami has announced Zombie Apocalypse, a new downloadable title for the PSN and Xbox Live Arcade. The object? That's right, to annihilate as many zombies as humanly possible with the aid of over-the-top weapons, and as fans of the genre fully understand, this is the only way to deal with the undead. There will be 11 different weapons, ranging from assault rifles to...er...a teddy bear filled with explosives, and up to four players can go have a blast for themselves; either online or offline. As an added twist - and one you won't find in Burn Zombie Burn! - you can use the environment to help you; as the press release reads, "players can use environmental hazards to crush, burn, slice, or cause other types of destruction on the masses of zombies." Said Anthony Crouts, Vice President of Marketing for Konami:
"Konami is committed to providing original, quality entertainment through our diverse offering of console, handheld and downloadable content. As a downloadable title, Zombie Apocalypse delivers all the fun and action of a console game at a fraction of the cost."
You will move with the left analog, fire with the right, and attempt to survive through "55 days of battles across seven environments," and the game will even boast seven additional unlockable modes. Zombie Apocalypse is slated to release some time during the second quarter of this year, so stay tuned for a concrete release date.

Anyway, I think I might have to purchase this game. I love Nazi Zombies, and Burn Zombie Burn! is so much fun it's unbelievable! I was a little disappointed that BZB wasn't online, but this game could make up for it. I don't think killing endless hordes of Zombies could ever get old...could it? :p
