Don't Sleep On Bayonetta This Fall
When we first heard the whispers of a hardcore action title from Platinum Games, with Devil May Cry director Hideki Kamiya in the lead, we immediately perked up. Ever since, we've been paying close attention to any new developments concerning the promising game.
Well, we've got an estimated release date and a few new screenshots from Joystiq, and that's only more incentive to keep our interest piqued. Apparently, Sega has "quietly" announced that Bayonetta will be ready for a "simultaneous worldwide release for Fall 2009," and that's good news. Furthermore, the new screens show the slender and deadly heroine slicing up enemies with her guillotine; it sure looks pretty, don't it? Some want to call this the spiritual successor to DMC - even though we're relatively certain that Capcom will deliver another entry in that series at some point - and considering Kamiya's involvement, that seems fair. Honestly, if we get the rock-solid and engrossing mechanics on display in the DMC games, we'll be happy. Having a female main character doesn't bother us in the slightest, especially when we're expecting a fair amount of flash and panache from the game's presentation. We have to wait for God of War III (it won't release until March 2010, it seems) and if Bayonetta does indeed launch this fall, it could be perfect timing. What other slash-'em-up game will it have to compete with...?
We know Uncharted 2: Among Thieves is coming, but that's a third-person shooter and a very different breed of action game. In fact, there are plenty of shooters, but not much like Bayonetta, so don't sleep on this one, action fanatics.

NGS is just too chaotic, with some crazy "forced" camera-angles, that can get annoying. I much prefer a "controlled" environment like Uncharted. (know what I mean?)
I'm hoping Bayonetta will have good camera angles, and less chaos. Oh yeah, upping the difficulty doesn't make me happy, either... =/

Oh even if DMC2 isnt the best, i think Dante's demon form looks THE BEST in the series in that one, hands down!!
I'll be paying close attention to this 1, but the main char...i dunno...i think shes a dante wannabe and shes too hard both dante n her are cheesy, but u just cant feel the awesomeness around her, unlike dante's...oh n i think dante will wipe the floor with her ass anyday!!

For ages now, video games have been portraying woman as objects of desire, and not so much as people. While there are plenty of female characters out there that do not objectify women, they are too few and far between.
This latest title really takes the cake! I mean, that trailer was painful to watch. My wife and I watched it together and can't help but wonder if any women were involved in making this game at all.
It is not that I don't appreciate the beauty of the female form, nor do I want to rain on anyone's parade. I just think that it is time for the gaming industry as a whole to grow up a little. Fighting games with scantily clad woman and bouncing boobs are juvenile enough, can't we take games into a new direction with less sexism?
Now that I have ranted my rant, I still hope all you fans do enjoy the game, since a lot of people put a lot of time and effort into this title, and I am sure they are trying their best to make an enjoyable game. I, on the other hand, will not be picking up this title.
