Game Informer Editor Confirms GTAV?

Anybody with a grain of intelligence knows that Rockstar is hard at work on an all new Grand Theft Auto game for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC. And we have no doubt that there's already something up and running, and now an Game Informer's editor, Andrew Reiner, has basically confirmed as much with the following tweet popping up on his Twitter:

"Rockstar was just in the Game Informer office. I can't tell you what they showed me, but it might have been Grand Theft Auto V."

Commence full scale interweb explosion, folks. The not so subtle message basically confirms that Rockstar is getting close to revealing an all new GTA game for us, and we have a feeling that E3 2009 is going to be the place where it all goes down. No word on what Rockstar showed off, because they may very well have just showed GI an untitled trailer, and Reiner assumes what he saw was GTAV, all of that is up in the air. But seeing as how distinct Grand Theft Auto is, it'd be fairly hard to mistake it for anything else when you see it. Here's hoping!

Now the next question on my mind is...are the rumors of a timed PS3 exclusive for GTAV going to come true? Oh, the suspense.

If someone thought GTA5 wasnt going to happen i would like to personally slap you in the face. It was just a matter of time until we heard about it. GTA4 sold tons of copies, R* isnt going to give up now.

I don't mind if it's a spinoff like Vice City or San Andreas, but the REAL GTA V better be PS3 exclusive or it just can't be a massive step up from part IV like IV was from III.

Yea shadow,the 360 is just as capable as the ps3 but World is worried about the game being limited due to 360 DVD's.I think what ya forgetting is that,it still could be released on multiple DVD's.This where ps3 could get the plus.

Just as capable? Maybe but look at the step up from III to IV, I think another step is going to take a full blu-ray and you just can't make a multiple disc game if it's open-world, itd have to be linear. Anyway, thats what I think.

It's nice to be loved though :)

If you are expecting a jump between IV and V in a way similar to the one between III and IV then give up now. There was some 6 years between III and IV, and a new console generation. This game that is being called GTA V will be nothing more than a incremental update technically in a new setting. And somehow I doubt that rockstar would limit the scope of their game before they would simply add another disc, (They would probably place the third island/city/area/thing on a second disc.

GTAV might well be 6 years away anyhow (with some spinoffs inbetween), at which point the PS3 games will be outta sight. If it's just gonna be GTA 4.5 then I'll pass.

That's why I said "the that is being called GTAV" sorta like how people still refer to World at War as CoD5. We prolly won't see GTAV this generation. I expect we'll see a GTA in Vice City, San Andreas and probably a third game as well I assume they'll go back to London. I'm just making the point that you have to be insane to think R* can make an equivalent leap in such little time on the same hardware. Simply NOT going to happen.

gtaV has to be an exclusive for the ps3...gtaV could be the best game of the year if xbox has nothing to do with it. obviosuly gta was a better game when it was exclusive to the ps3, but the last game could have been better if the xbox didnt get their bullshit. if developers have to have the xbox 3"69" to worry about, the game could lose a lot of an amazing things it has the potential to be.....only on the PS3

ive gotta say i still pretty pi$$ed at Rockstar after the episode of Gametrailers Lost and Damned special. They did an interview with one of the producers and geoff kieghly asked the guy why they put so much production value into the DLC and why they wanted to keep putting in DLC. The dude's reply was "its all for the fans who have bought the game and are fans of the series?".
Yeah right pull the other one, be honest and say it was for money because if it was for the fans does that mean all the people that bought the PS3 version are not fans????.
When i watched this i was very tempted to go to Rockstar and throw my GTA4 collectors edition at them.
Im not that bothered about the DLC but i hate it when companys lie and im pretty sure thats why the square-enix debate has rolled on.

I just hope that if GTA5 is coming and it is multi platform that they do produce the game with fans in mind on both consoles and dont sell out to one company or the other.

Sorry bout the rant. lol

Can't wait and GTAV is gonna rock....

And to everyone b*tching about it being multiplat get over it.... Why would they want to sell +/- 25 Million copies when the can sell 100 + Million Copies.... It about business and in this completely Scr*w*d economy being able to pull in revenue like that is a very rare thing...

But what they can do is use more space on the Blu Ray for stuff they took out of IV like the airplanes, Pimping up your car with Nitro's and so on. And if really need be the Xbox and PC version can be on 2 or more disks.

I mean in the past there were plenty of games that came out on more than one disk and it didn't bother me one bit...

I think it will be exclusive to the PS3 for
two reasons, M$ has not said a peep about the game!!! If you know the way these things work, there would have been rumors and rumors and rumors of M$ getting exclusive rights to the game or timed exclusive rights. Two, this is that exclusive game Sony & R* have hinted at in the past. Think of it as if GTA IV was part of a bigger deal between Sony and R*, (M$ gets this and that, then we get EXCLUSIVE rights to GTA 5).

R* really shouldn't take to long to get GTA V out. I mean they now have to the tools and knowledge to get it done right and most likley in a shorter amount of time. Who says they weren't working on it during or right after GTA IV!!!

The game will be out holiday 2009.......

R* has found it's Madden. I'll skip this years iteration as I was a little disapointed by last years version. If it was exclusive maybe they could make it better, but even Sony knows third party exclusives no longer exist so it's a no go for me.

I'm really bored of this series. Played it on PS1,PS2,PS3 and PSP. They are almost all the same experience and repetitive.

I will not buy another GTA unless they do something drastic and go to FPS or 3D or something.

Agree 100%. Classic example of better graphics not making a better game. I'd like to see some rpg elements in there. Upgrade player stats, buy property and buildings, have a proper garage, take over crime boss businesses ... GTA could be so much more.

Perhaps better graphics than the ps2 versions, but overall a GTAIV was a graphical disappointment, indeed.

I remember when my wife first started playing it at about 1am release day (bought at midnight) and how disappointed I was with its visuals. Then I watched her play through it on and off for several weeks. The impression I got then was verified when I played through it a few months later: a very large, but unsophisticated city, a very ordinary story full of cliches and d-rate movie quality writing. To try fool the player, they space out the repetitive missions in a way that doesn't work in either function: it takes far too long to get around, only to have to do the exact same things over and over and over again.

Length is not depth. San andreas was 10x the game, and GTAIV seemed like GTAIII with slight improvements on San Andreas graphics. Yes I played it on the 360, and while marginally nicer to look at, suffered terrible pop in when driving around at any speed above crawl. I call it a tie. They were both equally crappy~

I dunno, i got bored of the last GTA very quickly, once you got to the 2nd island you really saw how simular it was. once i completed the main story missions i sold it, i just never played it afterwards.

ok so a few people have said they think it might be a game for psp, you really think that this guy cant tell the difference between ps3 graphics and psp... or the main gta games and the storys games for psp?

i hope so badly that gta: v is an exclusive for ps3. im not to bothered if it isnt, it will still be an amazing game no doubt! maybe what reigner seen (i think that was the guys last name, right?) was a trailor... and if it was why wouldnt it be out soon. like it says in the paragraph "anybody with a grain of intellagence would know that gta: v was well in the works" hell, it was probebly started before gta: iv was shipped! infact its most probebely almost finished!

Its not gonna be exclusive, or at least dont get your hopes up, what are the chances?? And i doubt they would make it multidisk for the xbox,that wouldnt make sense would it, a multidisk Gta? So it will probably be holding back all the ps3's potential once again.

My god was I disappointed.

I doubt it's got any sort of exclusive deal with Sony, considering it would be easier to get the build running on the 360.

And going by the exclusive DLC for xbox right now.

I can't see it happening.

If V it was exclusive to PS3 it wouldn't see the same sales numbers as IV did. Can't have that. IV selling 4 mil and V selling 3? That'd look like a failure in their books so no way it's exclusive.

I would love another game set in San Andreas. And frankly, I would love a return to SA-style gameplay. The more serious tone of GTA IV was awesome, but that's no reason not to let us get jet packs and purple dildos again :)
