Naughty Dog: Uncharted 2 Demo "Getting Closer"

Developers and publishers have been using Twitter to tease everyone lately - we just told you Kingdom Hearts III is not the unannounced PlayStation 3 exclusive we know about - and now, Naughty Dog boss Evan Wells has issued another exciting "tweet."

Not surprisingly, everyone is keeping a sharp eye on Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, as it will not only be a gigantic blockbuster for the PS3 later this year, but it's a sequel to one of the most beloved titles of the generation. Last week, Wells said on his Twitter account- "The most important deadline so far on Uncharted 2 is right around the corner!" That was enough to get everyone talking; some want to believe we may receive the game sooner than initially anticipated. This week, Wells adds more fuel to the hype fire by saying "the demo's getting closer," and that has kicked off a whirlwind of speculation: "when's it coming?" "If it comes soon, doesn't that mean the game is closer than we think?" Well, first of all, Naughty Dog hadn't confirmed a demo before this statement, and secondly, "getting closer" is a fairly vague phrase. However, Arnold got a chance to actually see Uncharted 2 in action for about 45 minutes, and it looked so damn pretty...well, I personally want to believe we'll get it closer to the end of summer than the end of fall.

We'll let you know of any new updates on the development progress, but in the meantime, keep your eyes peeled. Those Twitter accounts of industry insiders can be very helpful; keep an eye on ours as well, as we may drop some hints there in the near future.

Since Kingdom hearts 3 was the only game that really made me wonder if the secret exclusive could be anything other than the FF7 remake im going to start celebrating now.. What if I am wrong you say? Lets not concern ourselves with silly ideas like that.
As far as Uncharted goes.. I didn't actually play the first but This looks great I am going to have to check out the demo.

I think he just means it isn't the secret exclusive they mentioned last month.. I would be willing to bet it is going to be exlcusive anyways.

The demo might be for the media or something. I think with this new "tax" on PSN we will be seeing less demos. I don't love this, but it's not that big of a deal. Demos usually suck anyway, but they are something to do.

Most demos I've played have sucked and don't represent the final game.

I think he is talking about that 14 cent or so per Gig bandwidth consumption charge that Developers have to pay to Sony, for everything dealt over PSN.

A lot of demos suck but that's because a lot of games on the PS3 suck too. I only use them for games that are sitting on the fence in my mind. Demos are by no means definitive but a rough idea is better than nothing at all imo

I believe if you really think you'd dig the game, you'd still buy the full game regardless of demo. GOw3. FFXiii and uncharted 2 demos could all suck theoretically but i'll still buy it

Not necicarily, slackernz. If I have seen footage on a game I know little about, and I have a strong liking of the game from that, and there is a demo of that game, I'd play the demo just to make sure I really want it. And most games on the PS3 rock, actually :)

Yeah, I think that charge for bandwidth that Sony is charging developers will hurt the quality, and the length of demos, and may even affect other media on psn. Where will it stop? Are they going to start charging us to download media or just getting on psn because we are using bandwidth too. Bad Sony!!!!

Don't be ridiculous. The demo is used as an advertising feature, and the advertising Naughty Dog will get from the demo far outweighs the cost. MS have a similar charge on Xbox live, and you don't see a drought of demos or content there. This tax has been in effect for a while now, and I haven't seen any difference in the number of demos rolling in.

Overall I agree with charging the developers for the bandwidth though. One thing they can do, what nobody mentioned, is charge like 1$ for a demo if it is big in size. Overall I think it is important to keep the PSN free if this is what they have to do. The 50$ a year that is charged by MS is alot of money, if you play your PS3 for 7 years online it is nearly the cost of the console again, which people say is so expensive. Of course MS will have a new console out in two years, so nobody will pay that much, but it will be alot for the 10 years the PS3 is king for.

I need to play the demo before I get the game. I wasn't fond of the first one; although, it was indeed a good game.

Hmm I have a feeling that the secret exclusive is Twisted Metal. Remember that interveiw Ben had with David Jaffe awhile ago? And there was a section of the interveiw he had to censor becasue it contained information that Jaffe wasn't ready to release yet?

its aparently been confirmed for late october arround the last week.
but its not a psn demo they were talking about.
there showing off the game somewhere in america in 2 weeks time.
thats what he was talking about.
i wish there was a psn demo comming soon but comon sence people has sony released 1 demo 8 months or so before the games release?
GT5 is supose to be out arround the same time than my favorite R&C Feature a crack in time to be out middle november mwith heavy rain and MAG hitting just before christmas.
cant wait but one thing ive gota ask.
what am i supose to do between July and ocotber?
infamous and GT5.
why have such a big gap than release 5 big exclusives in 2 months is sony that dumb.
