LEGO Rock Band Details: Build Vehicles, New Challenges
Although we still say it's far too close to milking the ever-loving snot out of a popular franchise, we admit to being somewhat intrigued by this latest LEGO Rock Band update.
It may sound like an absurd concept - because it is - but as Destructoid reports, Xbox.com has revealed new details for the bizarre hybrid (that hasn't been officially confirmed, by the way). First up, the developers will use the LEGO theme to "build cooler vehicles and move to new venues." So...like, we're gonna build the tour bus? Then, we'll get an extra easy mode for the kiddies who really aren't old enough to rock out, and separate unique Challenges include "destroying a giant robot, summoning a storm, and demolishing a skyscraper." We're still not sure if we'll be able to take songs from this game and drop them into Rock Band 2, and for that matter, we have no idea what tracks might be featured in LEGO Rock Band. But we imagine MTV Games will spill the entire can of beans at some point in the near future because at this point, we're already aware of the insanity. Just give the readers everything they desire and try to convince all of us why this would be worth our time and money. We choose to be optimistic - aren't we always? - by pondering the immense possibilities involved, and we'll just leave it at that for now.
We shouldn't say that crossover titles don't work. Just look at Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe; that turned out quite nicely, didn't it? And let's not forget that most LEGO-based games in the past have been very good. Combine that with the excellent Rock Band flair, and maybe we'll get a clear-cut winner!

Milking? I think not. I think taking a popular franchise and making a version that's kid accessible is brilliant. And if this one comes with 60-80 songs that can be exported for play in RB2, I'll call it a day one purchase.

-Expanding the genre by bringing in younger gamers that may have been excluded from earlier iterations.
-Adding game modes that include missions and challenges (I don't remember blowing up buildings in the first two games).
Officially not shovelware.
If you're not into it, fine. But, get off your high horse, you evidently have a hard time seeing from up there. ;)
