Pre-Order InFamous, Gain Access To Uncharted 2 Multiplayer Beta?

Yesterday, the official US PlayStation site teased an "electrifying announcement"; the advertisement included photographs of both inFamous and Uncharted 2: Among Thieves.

Sony will officially lift the lid on this announcement on April 27, which is only a few days away, but we may already have the answer. A Kotaku reader has provided the info-hungry Internet gamer hordes with a piece of visual evidence: it's a photo of Best Buy pre-order placeholder display boxes for inFamous, which clearly illustrate two interesting points: firstly, if you pre-order, you'll gain access to the inFamous playable demo, and secondly, you will also receive a voucher for an early introduction to the upcoming multiplayer beta test for Uncharted 2. Now, considering that Uncharted: Drake's Fortune was a strictly single-player adventure, it's huge news to learn that the sequel will boast a multiplayer option. That's first and foremost. It's further surprising to learn Naughty Dog is scheduling a multiplayer beta test, which usually only happens with titles that would feature multiplayer as a major focus. More leaked info around the 'Net has unofficially confirmed this information, so don't be surprised when Sony says exactly this come April 27.

As if Uncharted 2 wasn't already at the top of our Most Anticipated list for 2009; now it's gonna have multiplayer? And we'll get to play it well before the game comes out? ...yeah, that sounds totally bad-ass.

I do!!
I think it's just a way of promoting the new IP (InFamous). Millions bought Drake's Fortune, including me. FF demo raised sales so what will this demo do?
Oh yeah InFamous isn't as good as Prototype!

Hmm, I just hope MP is completely separate and wont influence how the SP campaign plays. I already had one game ruined because of that. (RE5)

It obviously says in the article, "Best Buy pre-order placeholder display boxes for inFamous, which clearly illustrate two interesting points: firstly, if you pre-order, you'll gain access to the inFamous playable demo, and secondly, you will also receive a voucher for an early introduction to the upcoming multiplayer beta test for Uncharted 2." So yeah, it means go to best-buy//

From my understanding, you have to pre-order infamous to get early access to the infamous demo, but ANYONE who purchases infamous (from ANY retailer) will get a Uncharted 2 beta code. Kinda like MS did with Crackdown and Halo 3.

That's great news hopefully the MP won't take away from the single player campaign and who knows maybe it will add to the experience.

Hmmm multiplayer for Uncharted? Honestly didn't see that coming at all. Why does everything have to have multiplayer now a days.

Yeah It seems like everything has multiplayer these days. I like the occassional multiplayer game like guitar hero or racing games but what I look for in games now is a long quality single player experience as I tend to get the most playtime out of those. I have a lot of games with multiplayer and I don't find they increase the replay value at all for my taste.

@ zemus101

i dont know why MP has to be in every game either, i would much rather have co-op, but o-well.

Either way though this is good news and im excited for it.

Too bad the cat's out of the bag Sony. You might as well announce the price drop instead to uphold that 'electrifying announcement'..=D

Sounds awesome, I'm not big on multiplayer, and was not expecting Uncharted 2 to have it. So it's a nice bonus! I can't wait to play it.

Wow.

3rd person Uncharted 2 with multiplayer?
Looks like GTA IV and SOCOM have some competition.

They're both 3rd person.
But I know SOCOM (Confrontation) is tactical but I just put it there because of the noticeable similarities.

The thing is that Naughty Dog did Uncharted 1 awsomely, and doubt they would leave out all the extra goodies like they had in 1 for multi-player .Plus they said in an artical 2 months after the first one released that they already had MP in mind and it would in NO WAY affect the single player campaign. I trust Naughty Dog, I trust that they can deliver a Blockbuster cinematic game like the first with multi-player added on to increase the pleasure and longtivity of there superb series.

not seeing why some people are hating on the multiplayer already. Multiplayer doesn't equal a horrible single player game if its done right, and if anyone can do it, its naughty dog

I agree, Resistance suffered from it though, but that was only because Sony pushed Insomniac a little so they could interfere with Gears 2 a little.
