Square-Enix: "There Surely Will Be" Another Kingdom Hearts

It remains one of the most popular video game franchises in existence, which is why many sources believe wholeheartedly that Square-Enix will produce another Kingdom Hearts installment...eventually.

Unfortunately, we've heard nothing in the way of concrete evidence so it's difficult to keep a firm grasp on hope. Some believe we may see the surprise unveiling of Kingdom Hearts III at E3 this year, but we really don't have any information to support such a theory. Then again, that doesn't mean it's entirely out of the question: according to a recent interview with Square-Enix's Tetsuya Nomura and Tomohiro Hasegawa, they don't plan to simply abandon the popular series. Heartstation is working on the full translation, but the one question and answer that will get everyone talking has already been revealed. In response to the question concerning KH, "Is there ever a feeling that there won't be a next installment?", Hasegawa replied:

"There surely will be. I really can't think of any reason why not, if everyone's heated support continues. When it is said 'Nomura will do III,' I can't say we haven't thought of anything."

It may be a somewhat broken translation, but you get the gist. The only downside is that it seems as if there's little chance of an actual announcement any time soon, so you can likely wave bye-bye to KHIII at E3. But if you want to be optimistic about the situation, simply take heart (no pun intended) that Square-Enix certainly seems interested in the possibility of a new entry in the critically acclaimed series. Now, all we need is for that "heated support" to continue...

I know a few people who have the 360 but loved these games for the ps2. They just might end up getting the ps3 because of this game.

Nowhere close to being overrated. KH was one of the best RPGs the PS2 ever had. Never could find the second one to try it, but I'm sure it was great as well.

Agreed with that. He should focus all his attention on Versus XIII and make the game as epic or even more epic as the 3rd trailer shown at DK3713 was. Afterwards...we can have a KHIII. Even though that would mean...like it won't come until 2012.

Perhaps if Wada himself is gonna direct and produce the game it surely could be a 360 exclusive, but I doubt it. KH is Nomura's baby, it will be either on Wii or PS3.

Meh i just wish they didnt include the FF cast in the Kingdom Hearts games, they just dont fit in and are poorly represented though KH games. I like the idea of fighting them in the Collucium, but not being invovled in the story.

I want to see them have a Fantasia World in the next one, Fight the big F*** off T-rex in 'the Rite of Spring' DUN DUN DUN....... DUN DUN DUNNNNNN

No sweat off my sack since I don't dig it, but I know it's a huge title and the Japanese (Where PS3 is king) seem to like it so maybe there's a leeeetle bit of hope for an exclusive. But I'm still not convinced Versus will remain so.

Have I lost my mind? I remember seeing and reading about this a year ago. Kingdom Hearts is my second favorite RPG series after Final Fantasy as you know. Again, I hope it will be another great game in the series and I also hope that Miley Cyrus and all those other Disney fartknockers will not make appearances. I'll take those skinny pirates over them any day.

Honestly, Disney isn't that same company it used to be three years ago. I'm a bit afraid to see what this game's going to be like.

Honestly, I doubt you would see her in the game as the license would possibly increase the cost of the game. However, Disney's new deal are lame sitcoms with laugh tracks and unattractive actors with purity rings, not their classic animated films. They put stuff like TRON and Pirates Of The Caribbean in KH2. The possibility of Hannah Montana in the game is there.

Disney Characters? FAIL

FF characters? FAIL

Keyblades... epic fail

Level design? FAIL

Easy to use menu? FAIL

The only part I half agree with is the keyblades, but it isn't a mature game lol we can't be giving kid's sharp swords of deadliness on their main character, that's why they gave us Riku :D

Kingdom Hearts is an amazing game. Im saving up for a DSi, for Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days and GTA China Town Wars. (I got $50 bucks saved up so far, wootness!) Anyways... 358/2 days is basically the story of Roxas and Organization XIII (which was Organization XIV before the girl in the game left, she's an additional character we've never met before)and of course Riku, all during the year Sora was asleep between CoM and KH2. The 358 is derived from 365 days in a year, minus the 7 that Roxas was in the false Twilight Town. The 2 however is unknown to me currently.

It's possible that KH3 can still be a PS3 exclusive. It depends when they announce it. The market at the the time of announcement could change their mind of which platform to build it in. I believe right after FFXIII launches in Japan, and sees a huge sales boom, Square will make more JRPGs on the PS3.

If it's announced this E3, most likely it'll be xbox or Wii exclusive.

(I dont care if any games are exclusives, as long as they are like FFXII, built on PS3 first, then port to Xbox)

KH 3 will be great. i do believe it will stay exclusive to the PS3, the whole reason why i got a PS2 was for KH :) first game i bought for my PS2 unforntantly both games were stolen :( Just waiting to grab them again.
Can't wait for KH 358/2 days just can't wait.
