Uncharted 2 Multiplayer Screens, Details Surface

As most of you are aware, Naughty Dog will launch a multiplayer beta for Uncharted 2: Among Thieves; you can guarantee yourself a spot by pre-ordering inFamous from certain retailers (Best Buy and, we're assuming, GameStop), although we don't have the exact details just yet.

So you can't mark your calendars for the beta start date, but you can most certainly view some awesome screens of the multiplayer action, and chew on a few early pieces of gameplay information. The game will support multiplayer co-op for up to 3 players and it's a different story than what we'll see in the single-player campaign. Certain actions will apparently require the help of another person so you'll need at least two players (well, duh, how else could it be "co-op?"), and we'll even have to face mini-bosses at the end of each section. The standard Deathmatch option will be available; it will boast 4-on-4 matches and you'll have to explore the maps to find the best weapons. Lastly, we see evidence of Capture the Treasure, which is - not surprisingly - a lot like the age-old FPS classic, Capture the Flag. Again, this is a 4 vs. 4 scenario, so you'll need to exercise a good amount of teamwork in order to nab the treasure and return it to your home base; the maps probably won't be easy to traverse. Anybody who thinks it'll be exactly like a typical run 'n gun third-person shooter (ala Gears of War) online, think again. We have a feeling that online multiplayer will feel a lot like the single-player, and we have absolutely no problem with that.

Stay tuned for more details on the upcoming beta; all we really want is the start date. Let us in, 'cuz we want to see the vibrant majesty of the best-looking console game to date!

4 V 4 sounds reasonable for a game like Uncharted but I hope the matchmaking is great Resistance 2's rank match search was annoying

I was hoping for something radicaly different but from what is read & the fact that drakes is just not a fps it has dynamic terrain, awsome animation, the ramped up stealth abilities ND hinted will make for more than just a deathmatch & capture the flag. The co-op will be awsome just hope that they let us play the main sp in co-op once u complete sp. The only thing i am worried about is the use of the cover system in competative modes. I cant picture it working, everybody ducking behind cover all the time. All the best to ND.

I'm glad it's only 4 on 4. Sometimes too many people means that you constantly die (obviously, more enemies). Sometimes it can be ridiculous really. 4 on 4 sounds good.

I hope that Naughty Dog have been smart enough to concentrate first anf foremost on the single player mode and story, otherwise this will be a total disappointment compared to the first game.

I am really pulling for the MP and co-op to be amazing for everyone even thought I haven't played online this generation and thought this game didn't need it.It's just ridiculous to me that some people are not getting the game anymore because ND decided to expanded it with new modes.

It has to have local co-op if the co-op is going 2 ship with the disc. Would not make no sense in making it online only & the demand for local co-op is also high. So i guess will be seing 10/10 when the reviews come in since it has multiplayer which if it did not have will rob it of 3/2 points. :-)

Absolutely correct with the possibles 10/10.While I myself don't like MP I understand there's lots of people who like Mp and I know it will get more praise.I don't think like some people who are selfish and just didn't want it for the sake of the first one.

This game looks amazing. Not buying it because they added something is just stupid. The first game was already pretty short and it was worth the money. If this one is the same sp length then great. Then you have co-op AND online? Now it's doubly worth it!

Ben, what do you guys have to do to start getting invited to these events? I'd much rather be reading your hands-on than joystiq's. Not to take anything away from joystiq. Is it just a question of how many hits you guys get? How do we get you guys hob-nobbing with Naughty Dog?

Hey, we saw Uncharted 2 in action long before Joystiq did. Don't forget that. ;)

And we did an eyes-on of our time watching it, too. Arnold saw the game for about 45 mins., if I remember correctly.

"Up to 3" players for the co-op story mode? Does that mean I can do the second storyline all by myself or not? If I can't I'll be upset cuz I'll never get everything out of the game.

The MP trailer I saw on GameTrailers was Epic lol.It had me fooled at first, I was like "Ok single player looks Awsome as always, smooth textures nice graphics." Its when he step on the ledge and showed it was MP all along I went "OH SH@#", Pulling other Players from ledges, hiding behind signs, THROWING PROPANE TANKS AND SHOOTING THEM MID AIR!?!?! They should of hand over the Tomb Raider license to Naughty Dog, because with Ideas and Skills like them, they would of done that series justice. Oh well, this is Gonna ROCK SO HARD!!!

So Co-op story mode is separate from single player story mode? Thank you Naughty Dog! From the articles and the videos of this, you got it right! This is how you handle Co-op and Multiplayer!

Oh, and MP looks great! Wow does it look great!

Oh boy...Sony better pump up their advertising IMO if they want this game to sell a lot. I mean Sony has a bunch of great games that can sell their systems...it's just that they have to advertise more - then people will know and will want it. But yea yea of course it's not as simple as that - but nevertheless this looks awesome.

Can't wait 'till I get a PS3. I saw Uncharted from start to finish, but of course haven't played it. But have played the demo. It was fun...but looks annoying at some parts. But oh well, games always have their annoying moments *cough* *cough* Star Ocean 4 *cough* *cough*.

Oh boy sorry me I must've gotten Swine Flu. ...................................oh god I better not jinx myself.

The multiplayer is 5v5.

Did no one here even watch the trailer.

Clearly when you first see all the players appear.

There is 4 green names, 5 red.

Just about every other site confirmed 5v5.
