Rogue Warrior Resurfaces, Rourke To Voice Lead Character
Rogue Warrior was announced way back in 2006 but since then, we've heard next to nothing in the way of details or information. Well, that's probably because Rebellion Studios "started from scratch" last year after the original developer, Zombie Studios, bowed out.
A Bethesda representative told GameSpot they "really wanted to refocus the game's direction," and now that they've successfully done that, we have a new estimated release window: Rogue Warrior should launch for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC in the fourth quarter of 2009. In fact, it's slated to hit store shelves only a short time after Bethesda's anticipated action title, Wet, which also recently received an estimated date. Lastly, Bethesda has revealed that Oscar-nominated actor Mickey Rourke will lend his gravelly voice to the main character, Navy SEAL Richard "Demo Dick" Marcinko. The game is based on Marcinko's popular novels and with Rourke in the lead, the foundation for the game appears solid. We still need some gameplay details and we'd love some media - screens, a debut trailer, etc. - but for now, we'll just take solace in the fact that the project is moving forward. For quite some time when it was still with Zombie Studios, we just figured it would eventually be canceled. When you hear absolutely nothing about a game for an extended period of time, the publisher often pulls the plug and that's that. Not this time, though.
With Rebellion pushing forward, we'll be happy to see Rogue Warrior launch towards the end of this year. Stay tuned for more details as they become available.

Rourke's personality and name pronunciation totally gives me flash backs to Final Fantasy X and X-2!!!
Like major deja vu nostalgia.
I can't quite place a finger on what character he reminds me of o_O
Anyone else feel the same? lol
He's a cool guy. Saw him get nominated.
=D

Rourke isn't a Hollywood 'creature' like so many who infest American film these days. Rough around the edges, to be sure, but at least he knows who the hell he is and who he's not. As a long-time fan of his work, I'll definitely be keeping my eye out for this one...
