Bioshock Film "In A Holding Pattern"
We all know that Bioshock 2: Sea of Dreams will be fantastic, and although most of us have our reservations about the movie adaptation, it was good to know that "Pirates of the Caribbean" director Gore Verbinski was at the helm.
But the film has hit a definite snag: as Variety reported over the weekend, Universal Pictures has ordered that Verbinski stop work on the project, due to the ever-growing $160 million budget, which is now being reevaluated. Perhaps the issue is that most video game movies flop and if you dump a huge amount of money into it, it's just that much more cash that gets flushed down the drain. Verbinski only had this to say regarding the situation:
"We were asked by Universal to move the film outside the US to take advantage of a tax credit. We are evaluating whether this is something we want to do. In the meantime, the film is in a holding pattern."
They wanted the movie to come out somewhere close to the third Bioshock installment, but that wasn't going to happen, despite the rush to have the film in theaters by summer 2010. Verbinski even declined to produce a fourth "Pirates" movie to hit that new, strict deadline, but things aren't going as planned. Still, Universal and the accomplished director want to remind everyone that the project isn't canceled; merely delayed. The movie, written by John Logan ("Gladiator," "Star Trek: Nemesis"), will eventually find its way to theaters, so it's only a matter of time. The only question is...how much time?

If the cast/crew can translate that creep-factor to the big screen, and marry it with solid, believable acting, then they might really have a winner here.

I didn't care for Bioshock so I don't think I would waste my time with the movie. I am going to see the PoP movie though. Hopefully they do it justice.
I'm hoping for a GOW movie!
