Final Fantasy XIII Higher On A PS3 Owner's Priority List
When Final Fantasy XIII went multiplatform, the Sony fans were heard to yell, "but FF is associated with PlayStation! More PlayStation owners will want it!" Well, it's probably fair to say that just about everyone wants this game, but this sentiment does ring true to some extent.
In a recent set of data provided by research group OTX and presented by Gamasutra, we learn about the top 20 most anticipated titles for both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 owners (click link at bottom for the 360 stats). As you can see, #1 on the PS3 owner's list is FFXIII, while it's only at #4 on the 360 owners' list, well behind the likes of Halo 3: ODST and Modern Warfare 2. A graph shows off the pre-order intent for each top 20 list, too, and it's interesting to note that only one IP is found on either assembly of most anticipated games: Sucker Punch's inFamous, a PS3 exclusive scheduled to drop in early June. Also, we should point out that God of War III is pretty darn close to FFXIII; here's the Top 20 most anticipated games for PS3 owners according to the OTX results:
- 1. Final Fantasy XIII (Square Enix)
- 2. God of War III (SCE Santa Monica)
- 3. Madden NFL 10 (EA Tiburon)
- 4. Assassin's Creed 2 (Ubisoft Montreal)
- 5. Modern Warfare 2 (Infinity Ward, Activision)
- 6. Tekken 6 (Namco Bandai)
- 7. X-Men Origins: Wolverine (Raven Software, Activision)
- 8. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves (Naughty Dog, Sony)
- 9. Need for Speed: Shift (Slightly Mad Studios, EA)
- 10. Ratchet and Clank Future: A Crack in Time (Insomniac Games, Sony)
- 11. BioShock 2 (2K Marin, 2K Australia)
- 12. Batman: Arkham Asylum (Rocksteady Studios, Eidos/Warner Bros.)
- 13. Fight Night Round 4 (EA Canada)
- 14. NCAA Football 10 (EA Tiburon)
- 15. Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 (EA Tiburon)
- 16. Ghostbusters: The Video Game (Terminal Reality, Atari)
- 17. Infamous (Sucker Punch Productions, Sony)
- 18. Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2: Fusion (Vicarious Visions, Activision)
- 19. Half-Life 2: Episode Three (Valve Software)
- 20. UFC 2009 Undisputed (Yuke's Media Creations, THQ)
The fact that X-Men Origins: Wolverine is higher than Uncharted 2: Among Thieves makes us wonder who took this poll, and we figure one glaring omission may be Quantic Dream's Heavy Rain, but that has fallen out of the limelight since its impressive unveiling last year. Hopefully, we'll see more at E3.

It's also strange that Assassain's Creed 2 is considered more anticipated than inFamous, when there's absoulutely no gameplay footage from that game while inFamous is being hyped big time. Don't get me wrong, I am indeed looking forward to some yummy stealth kills down the road, but we have almost no info on the game besides a time period and a artist impression of the new character. Too little and too far past the horizon it seems.
Nice to see Tekken up there though. ;)

Nope,no FF13 anywhere. After the disappointment that was FF12 and Square sacrificing the quality of their game for money,I'll pass.

Who cares about the 360 version of the new Final Fantasy if you own a PS3.You ought to be concerned about the welfare of the PS3 version and that version only. Why are so many of you worried about the 360 version. Are you really worried about it being that much better than the PS3 version?! So many of you obsess over it so much, it sure sounds like you are!

Would also be nice to have a ps3 version of FF11, since some of us do have that travesty of a ps2 incompatible version, called the 40 gig unit.

Highly questionable, indeed.
