Valkyria Chronicles Ranking High On Current Sales Charts

Too many gamers overlooked it last year but thanks to the recently released DLC and positive word-of-mouth, Valkyria Chronicles is suddenly a very hot item...in both Japan and the US!

As reported over at Sega's blog and citing sales numbers provided by Gamasutra, the excellent strategy/RPG sits at #5 on the North American charts this week, and it's all the way up at #1 in Japan. Next week is also shaping up nicely, as Chronicles is ranked #3 in PlayStation 3 sales in the Land of the Rising Sun and holding tight to that #5 spot in the US. It's also good to know that each of the newly available downloadable content packs are also popular, and if you haven't yet had the pleasure, you can pick up this singularly appealing title at Amazon.com this week for only $39.79! Really, if you're a PS3 owner and you have even the slightest interest in this genre, you owe it to yourself to add Valkyria Chronicles to your library. You won't regret it; there's a damn good reason why word is spreading: the vast majority of gamers have nothing but good things to say about it, and so many people just can't be wrong!

Remember, this game dropped in November, during a time when many huge blockbuster titles were already on store shelves. It was just too much to handle at the time, but quality won't be denied. Truth!

i wish i live in the us because valkyria chronicles at 30$ already.. but here in philippines the game it's still cost 58.99$ that's 2830 in philippine peso..

To be honest, i have never heard a single person say one negative thing about VC. Its a rare game that does everything right. Im glad i got it early, but if i hadnt i would definately be getting it now. At $40 its one of the best deals you will ever see for your ps3.

I was lucky enough to get a used copy for 19 bucks (missed priced) its a damn good game i spend hours on this game. I have people saying to me hey once u're done i'll buy it off you, i'll never sell this game :)

I lucked out and found somebody that had two factory sealed copies on ebay about two weeks ago and snagged one for $21. It's a great game and easily one of the best games in the PS3 library. Hopefully this newfound popularity will spur a sequel of some sort. Glad to see a great game get some of the recognition it deserves. Even if it is a little late.

I really wonder if the sudden sales spike has also something to do with the anime based on the game being shown starting last month. Its a damn good anime.

I think I'm going to buy this game soon.

Great theory. My theory is that a lot more people have PS3s now (esp in japan with RE5 release) and they're thinking "What games can I get that I don't have on Xbox? That Valkyrie game, i heard that was good..."

It might be a combination of both of these theories, actually.

Love this game. Most underrated/overlooked game of 08. R2 killed VC's sales. So it's nice to read that now it's starting to get noticed.
