Fallout 3 PS3 May Finally Receive DLC

Fallout 3 is one of the best RPGs available this generation, but if you own the PlayStation 3 version, you haven't been happy with the lack of downloadable content.

Microsoft struck a deal with Bethesda to keep the first three extra content packs exclusive to the Xbox 360 (as if that's any gigantic surprise), which means that bonus packs that expand the gameplay - like the Broken Steel expansion - are only available for the 360 version of the game. But as Gamer.Blorge points out, the timed exclusive agreement between Bethesda and MS expires on May 5 and furthermore, retailers are advertising a new DLC bundle entitled "Broken Steel & Point Look." Now, if we're counting correctly, "Broken Steel" was the third piece of DLC for the game, which must mean that the second part of that pack, "Point Look," or "Point Lookout," would be the fourth...and the exclusive agreement was for the first three DLC packs. If one combines these two pieces of information together, might it be safe to assume that the PS3 version of Fallout 3 will finally receive some much-appreciated - albeit very late - extra content? Of course, you can always put over a hundred hours into the standalone game all by its lonesome, but the die-hard fanatics are always looking for more ways to elongate the excellent role-playing experience.

Almost nothing is exclusive this generation, especially when it comes to third-party productions. There may be a few timed exclusivity deals here and there, but all such deals have to expire at some point...right?

I want to see fallout 3 work like it is supposed to. It came out at he end of October, and they still haven't fixed all the glitches.
DO NOT OVERWRITE OLD SAVES WHILE PLAYING FALLOUT 3; THIS ELIMINATES ABOUT 90% OF THE GLITCHES!!!

I don't think Microsoft paid anything. I think Bethesda and Microsoft have been long time bedfellows.

So Microsoft did pay for the exclusive dlc! what a bunch of greedy bastards really why can't they just let all gamers enjoy all dlc instead of buying any dlc hey can get their dirty hands on.Hope is true an a fallout dlc comes to the ps3 and maybe Tombraider and GTA will follow.

Finally...I am at level 20 and also near the end of Fallout3. When I heard that M$ got 'first dibs' I figured it would be a matter of time before DLC came to the PS3. Now I can finish and make a new character.

same I've been holding off with my character almost maxed out, but with DLC possibly coming soon to extend it I can finally get on and finish the game.

sorry bethesda, too little too late. Already sold my game back, have no plans of ever buying it again. Fun game but when companies start favoring one console over another, ignoring their fanbase, i speak with my wallet.

Although they got my original $60, they wont be getting anything else from me, dlc or goty disk based

I gotta agree... though I have the 360 vers b/c of the "exclusive" extra stuff that MS got, I find it disheartening that people are all of a sudden jumping over this news with excitement.

If I only had my PS3 to play Fallout on, I would of just said f*** Bethesda and be done with it... no sense in rewarding them my hard earned money for coming so late to the PS3 party. I'm of the mind that when late DLC arrives and people gobble it up, it's telling developers that its OK to essentially favor one platform over the other because sales will still work out for them in the end. I say release DLC at the same time or just don't release it at all.

i hate it how when PS3 players are upset when they lose their exclusives, and Xbox fanboys would reply: "Multiplatform, means more people can enjoy the game". I dont see the same treatment the other way around. If anything, MS have been holding back from others to enjoy. Although Sony does that to some extent, but what MS is doing is ridiculous. MS couldve actually made money if they dont sign these deals and checks. They aren't thinking about the profit of the company at all.

While Fallout 3 is a fantastic game and I'm glad I got it, unless I stumble on a bunch of cash I probably won't bother getting these unless they offer something truly useful. If Bethesda is going to let MS buy them out then well they can just get teabagged and learn to do it right with New Vegas. I maintain they could have made more money without the exclusivity deal.

If this is true i will be SOOOOOOOOOO happy. I was kinda sceptical on fallout until i tried it using gamefly, now i cant stop playing it. over 100 hours to get all the trophys, like 350+. i think they should do the Operation Anchorage and The Pitt as well.

if there are any games from 3rd party devs that are exclusive, they should be on PS3 to show the full potential of that title

*cough* FFXIII *cough*

I dont think it'll be any different on the Xbox for FFXIII. Xbox is fairly easy to retain most of PS3 quality when ported. The only difference is the medium, blu-ray.

naw... Bethesda will probably always treat the PS3 as a secondary objective. The fanbase isn't as supportive of them.

This gen of consoles in regards to exclusive extra offerings in a game = FAIL! When Fallout 3 drops to $30 with DLC and most of the bugs fixed, then I might think about it depending on what I'm playing and plan to play.

Is the PS3 version that bad? I thought it was just texture and draw distance problems

I am unhappy with this.

I sold my copy after I got my platinum because I was under the impression of the DLC never coming.

Oh well. FO3 is my favorite game to date, and it looks like I will have to pick this title up again.

I could care less about extra content, but the level 20 cap was pure stupid. you can get to level 20 and still have 3/4 of the game's content yet uncovered. the developers themselves admitted that the level 20 cap was a bad idea. why couldn't they have just released a patch to change that? was that also exclusive? all i can say about this is: L A M E.
and i 100% approve of piracy of bethesda products, though i won't participate myself, if only because my pc can't handle the software.

Good news. I'm liking FO3 and look forward to the dlc if it's cheap enough. I hope they patch the level cap before I get that far. I'm currently only level 4.
