Final Fantasy Versus XIII To Look Similar To Advent Children?

Just because it's a ways off doesn't mean we won't follow it; besides, a recent poll has proven that many of our readers are very, very interested in Final Fantasy Versus XIII.

Therefore, we've got some new information for you, courtesy of PSU and a recent Famitsu interview with Square-Enix producer Tetsuya Nomura. One of the juiciest nuggets gleaned from this interview was the fact that "many of the rendering and shading tools used in the development of Versus XIII were used to polish "Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children." See, the team behind the movie wanted to use a variety of especially advanced techniques and tools that weren't currently available, so they turned to the team behind Versus XIII. Now, one can interpret this in a variety of ways, but the optimistic will want to conclude that the final game may actually look almost as good as what we saw in "Advent Children." Nomura further mentioned that Roen, the company responsible for the character costume designs in the game, have finally completed their work on the main character and the rest of the party. Why did it take so long? Well, apparently, there was an "extreme" level of detail required...is anyone else thoroughly psyched by this?  Graphically speaking, Square-Enix has always been a pioneer of sorts, so perhaps this isn't too surprising.

We have no idea what Square-Enix has on tap for E3 this year, but at this point, any new footage of Final Fantasy Versus XIII will be much appreciated. Can the game really look as good as we imagine?

You made a mistake i think.... near the ending it says "really looks as good as we imagine?", Really sorry if I'm wrong.

Btw, i was thinking of getting a ps3 when a new kingdom hearts game will come out for it. But recently i found out that this game's battle system will be similar to kingdom hearts'(wiki).

il trust square enix on the graphics as long as they don't have to downgrade it so they can put it on 360. also this might be the first final fantasty to go online because its got more of an action genre. just making predictions

I don't think that S-E would bring Versus to the 360. I believe they know that many of their fans would jump ship if they did.

Personally, I think this game is gunna blow FF13 out of the water, and now I'm thinking maybe even graphically. I really can't wait for a release on this game, I've been missing the KH-style gameplay...So while you're at it Nomura old buddy old pal, hurry up with BBS and get on with KH3 lol.

Well, I'm all jazzed for this but it's probably gonna be at least 2 more years so I'll try to look forward to one game at a time.

As for E3, I suspect they will give a bit of info on that new game they are teasing on their site with the JFK quote and the little explosions and gun shots in that city.

Eh I remember a game saying that it was going to look like the movie Beowulf, didn't turn out like that at all. Kinda not expecting it to look too much like Advent Children, but if they're using the same tools and sense it is Nomura, possibly, but I don't think they'll get it to run perfectly at that amount of graphical workload. But maybe they'll make it work but if they do it'll probably be a year or two more before it's even released in Japan.

OMG! Advent Children came out a longgggggggg time ago. FFXIII versus were ahead enough to give advice to Advent Children at that time? wow... are they almost done with the game for a 2010 launch?

From that cut scene they showed us, they are almost there with the graphics. And the fact this probably has about two more years of development to go, I'm going to take his word for it. Nomura really isn't known to hype something up, he useually delivers what he says.

This game will rule no doubt...I wonder if they're talking about the real-time footage or the pre-renderred cutscenes. Because the cut scenes already look like Advent Children quality. As for the real-time footage, that trailer from the FFXIII demo disk of FF Versus XIII...was drop dead gorgeous. There weren't many colors...just blue, gray, black, white, and yellow. But wow...it looked gorgeous.

If so that would be quite impressive, to be honest thats how i was expecting most PS3 games of this gen to look, obviously that is not the case.

I just want a game that is as gripping as VII-X.

im more hyped for uncharted 2 gow 3 heavy rain and GT5.
espeshialy GT5 god i wish they would hurry up and release it.
ive never liked RPG's the combats just to tedious and slow your turn now mine now yours now mine just gets annoying

I am so stoked about this game. I cannot wait for it to arrive. Unfortunately I am going to have to for probably a year and a half. What on earth is going to satisfy my appetite until then?
