Where Did All The PS3 Hate Go?
Let me see if I can break this down for all of you haters, currently cowering in a corner and hoping to God nobody calls you to task for your doom-and-gloom claims from the early days of the PlayStation 3.
I've been gaming for over 25 years and I have covered the progress of Sony's latest console for PSX Extreme since the very first day. You can go all the way back to November of 2006 to view my Launch Report Card for the system. Now, for most all of 2007, I scoured the Internet for news every day - as I still do - and I read all the regular reports along with the nasty editorials that inundated every gaming website around. Of course, I'm not about to say that certain editorials weren't without merit; the PS3 did indeed have a slow start and no matter what kind of fan you are, you can't deny that things weren't looking good. However, as I did agree with some of the negative viewpoints, the sheer number of "LAMLAMLAM, the PS3 is gonna die!" articles was downright disgusting, and furthermore, even legitimate websites began running pieces asking if there was any way to "save" the beleaguered console. Apparently, I was the only one on earth who simply asked, "given Sony's history and the progression of past consoles, shouldn't we have just a little more faith than this?"
And now, it's 2009 and the PS3 seems to have all the momentum in the world. We have already been blown away by certain exclusives, including MGS4 and Killzone 2, and many more are on the way. Few will argue that PS3's exclusive lineup, which features names like Uncharted, God of War, and Gran Turismo (just to name a few), currently outstrips that of the competition. The PlayStation Network has come a long way...a long, long way; on the first few days of the Store's existence, it barely featured a few pieces of content. Now, there are thousands. Even little downloadable titles have wowed us (flOw, Flower, etc.), and oh yes, let's not forget about the video download service and the fact that it remains free. PlayStation Home is here, and like a microcosm of the entire PS3 existence, it shows a ton of potential that hasn't quite been realized yet. In short, the software is here and more is coming, there's every indication that the PS3 will have the best exclusives in 2009 and even 2010, the Network is both reliable and increasingly popular, the machine is super reliable, and all that's left is a price drop.
And where have all the haters gone? Well, they've gone where they always go when they issue ill-advised, shrieking rantings and ravings, only to find out at a later date they've been proven wrong. I'm not here to tell everyone that the PS3 will eclipse the Wii, but it seems almost inevitable that it will soon reach the 360 threshold and may indeed surpass it before too long. It's all about the games, and the PS3 seems to have the edge. If Sony comes with the price drop, you can certainly expect to see some major sales spikes around the world; look what it has already done in Japan! So come on, haters. Stand up and take your punishment like a man. Concede. Do what a grown-up does when faced with the inevitable realization that his knee-jerk reaction was ill-founded and ill-advised. But you won't do that, will you? You'll remain in hiding, because it's far too painful to let the light hit your still-closed eyes...I feel for ya. It's tough to admit. But the truth is, the PS3 is here to stay and not only is it proving to be mighty stiff competition, it also seems to be in the driver's seat at the present time.
For the naysayers, the truth hurts.

On topic , the hate has shifted to every PS3 exclusive that gathers some attention . Apparently , sales are the biggest fetish for these haters now .
As for the so called legitimate websites that wrote such articles , they have either shut up or are directing their rage towards PS3 games in the form of absurd reviews . I just read a review from a site called gamestyle , which was written yesterday with the specific purpose of bringing Killzone 2's score down a point on metacritic . If you don't believe me , go to metacritic and look at the KZ2 page , it's at the bottom of the lot . More than the number , the absolute bullshit this guy is spewing in the name of journalism is beyond pathetic .

Sony still has the best exclusives bar none without having exclusive 3rd party support. The Wii has the most sales and I am sure that we can all agree that the console is crap when it comes to quality games.
I have been supporting Sony since summer 1996 and always believed in the PS3.After all,the PSP is largely successful despite piracy and everyone claiming that it was dying.

Now we know we made the right decision, got the better hardware, are getting the better software, and have outlasted the moronic horde to which you refer. Listen closely on a quiet night and you can hear me cackling in the dark :)~

You can't expect a company as large and considered veterans in the industry to be out that easily. SONY deserves better than that. Xbox has definitely proved that they finally have a game machine (cuz the 1st XBOX was horrible.) and yes they are ahead of PS3 right now, but lets just say that's not going to be for long. C'mon every gamer i know in real life owns a PS3. and if they have either of the 2, they use the PS3 as their primary one. Any1 that has no next gen console is just waiting for either 1 of 2 things. Final Fantasy or a price drop. C'mon SONY bring it, im just sitting back and waiting for the games to come

Unfortunately there will always be people trying to "doomify" (made that up) the Playstation brand.... It happened with the 1st the 2nd and now the 3rd one even the PSP. It will keep happening up to the end. I say let them cause every single time (as history shows) the Playstation Brand has proved the haters wrong.
As for the review that guy made....What a chop. I can't believe that someone that writes crap like that probably has people reading that sh** and believing is even allowed to put that on a site. If it was true fair enough but obviously it isn't. If he worked for me I'd fire him.... Not because I'm a fanboy but because he obviously doesn't do a good job... probably just to find out he doesn't mind seeing he's getting payment from M$ every month....

BIG point, but it only allowed nintendo and microsoft reach higher sales, if the PS3 were launched at the expected HALF price, the xbox 360 and wii today were dead in the water.
BUT the "cheap" cost you "more" as my granddaddy used to say.
the wii is just smoke and mirrors period, you get the same result from waving the wand like a maniac that just shaking it 1 inch, its more a motion sensor than a motion 3D sensor, its fun one day and for a while, but get bored aftertime, nobody go to see the same magic show every day.
the xbox 360, well if the wii are smoke and mirros, the xbox is just an empty box. it break more often than a window in front of a baseball park, zero exclusives games, any game released can be found on a PS3 or a PC, halo and gears in fact get better graphics in a PC, anyone remember the BETA, sorry my mistake, HD-DVD failure, or that half the consoles miss the HDMI, making the consoles with HDMI useless since not developer can just code for the best and forget the rest, i think the HDMI was so you can actually play HD-DVD in full resolution, but since microsoft think 720p is enough for most TVs, and 1080p is useless... you get the idea, i can accept pay to blizzard for my WOW joy, but i get dedicated servers and the game is played in those servers making my PC just a client... but how in name of God, microsoft can justify pay to play online, if i host the game in my console, and use none bandwidth from microsoft servers to play, did i mention microsoft POINTS, whats the point?, i will leave it here, but i can go for a long list.
the PS3 is only getting better features via firmware, from a basic launched console that still today in just hardware is far away from their competitors, head to head to the xbox 360, you get wifi, blu-ray and free play online, thats just a $800 today value, less cut $200 from the blu-ray player that each day pass its more clear its not unnecessary and neither unwanted, wifi and play free online are almost a must, even dropping the wifi $100, you get 10 years without paying $50, thats $500 not wasted that you can use to buy games, and thats without mention upgrading hard disk, cost and wasted time in dead consoles, etc remember the "cheap" cost you "more". the PS3 is simple the best, best hardware, best reliable, best software, best online (yeah its best in my eyes, free, home, store, etc), best exclusives, best cam, best media support, best interface, you can use as a PC via linux, compatible with any USB keyboard, storage, etc, best downloadable games, best PSP friend, etc to be fair the only down is the compatiblity with ps2, and as much as i think is more a RP thing, i expect it returning via the firmware 3, or maybe later if sony extended even more the ps2 life.
MMMM... i microsoft hater you may think, i never denied it, in fact i was saying similar thing from the last couple of years and i always know i will have the last laugh.
i quoted myself from 2 years ago
"if you had microsoft shares you must sell them all now, cause you never will be see that price again, it had reached their peak price and now is just going down, maybe microsoft wont go to bankrupty, but you bet it will be just a shadow"
as today im still a nostradamus lol
i still believe that by 2012 microsoft will go away, "you can sell anything for gold, but after a while, when the people discover how you do it and see its easy, anyone can make it and that you are selling it way overpriced, everyone star making their own and then you cant sell it anymore even for a dollar"
hope i quote this 2 years from now

Me i also agree the ps3 can reach if not surpass 360 cause it's in a too good position.Like the out-gone David Reeves said,it's a tortoise and hare race,ps3 could definitely come out victorious. No wait,so what do we call the wii a cheetah? as in a cheater who isn't next-gen but is way ahead of the race?

Microsoft blew its 360 load in the first 2 years of the console because of its early launch. Now it's time for SONY to just roll on past 'em.
The 360's biggest problem--other than the RRoD--is its lack of exclusive developers. Sure, they have EPIC and Lionhead, but neither of these studios produces the quality and number of titles that SONY's 1st and 2nd party studios can create.

Kind of ironic don't you think: Microsoft pays for exclusivity, 360 owners rejoice and rub it in PS3 owners faces, PS3'ers get used to the fact. However, PS3 gets the timed(atm??) exclusive, they are happy, 360'ers start slagging PS3 off again. Whilst I'm a bit surprised that its become this "exclusive" so near to release date, i do remember reading somewhere a while back (if you find the link, please post), that a dev on G'Busters said that they had the potential to do a lot more for the PS3 version, but it had to be scaled down for the multi-plats.

I admit at the beginning of the PS3 it seemed like Sony's focus was only trying to win the Blu-ray vs HD DVD war, but after they won they have shifted their focus back on the PS3.
If you look back, the major turning point was when Sony introduced the 40 GIG for $399. If they introduce the 20 GIG for $299 then things will get even more crazy.

You are spot on.
PS3 was Sonys weapon in the HD war. It was a gamble, Sony had to wait a full year (after 360 release) before pushing out the PS3 so it got the BluRay tech in it, it granted the PS3 a very sloooooow start, few to none exclusives games, MS stealing former ps2 exclusives, etc etc. It was pretty sad time for the PS brand.
However the gamble finally paid off, THE PS3 crushed HD-DVD in very short time, and now Sony first party strategy is in full swing, nothing comes close to the ps3 lineup, and it seems some games could be undisclosed at E3. Exciting stuff. Pretty good time to be a PS3 owner.

Personal insults at Ben Dutka.
Mocking of the website itself.
Generalized statements about Sony.
Constant "fanboy this" outcries.
My personal favorite? The over use of the phrase "epic fail".
All the while it seems only a few people in that thread actually got the point.

I'll just paste one of his posts here. It had me ROFL (not literally, mind):
"Thanks for the awesome sweeping generalisation. Not just fanboys, but all PS3 owners. Here I was happy with a good console with lots of good games, not particularly phased by the 360 having higher sales currently, but yeah, totally agree with you, PS3 owners are jokes. Because being an epic 360 fanboy, thats just way cooler, and clearly shows all us PS3 owners that your net-penis is many times bigger than ours. I am truly humbled. I just wish I had the energy and time required to hate a piece of consumer electronics."

The one place where you can consistantly find attacks on the PS3 is from Microsoft's PR statements.
I guess they believe in the whole "put your candle out to make mine look brighter" theology.
Sad when one thinks about it.

"I think it's pretty dumb to include games that haven't been released when you're saying its lineup "currently outstrips that of the competition"."
Yeah? Well I think it's pretty dumb that someone doesn't understand the concept of a "lineup." The biggest thing that seperates Sony fans and MS fans isn't which console we prefer...It's how we argue our points.

I think I've punished them long enough. I think Sony is finally realizing how it's greediness hurt the fans. I think I'm almost ready to buy a PS3. There's enough games I want now. I'm just waiting for the next price drop.
