Sony's E3 Software List Revealed

Considering the upcoming exclusive lineup for the PlayStation 3, one would hope that Sony might steal the show at E3 this year. Well, based on the confirmed list of software presentations, our hopes are high. Very high.

The list of confirmed E3 Sony titles has popped up at TheBitBag, and as you can see, most all of the hotly anticipated PS3 and PSP titles are included (sans Gran Turismo 5, unfortunately). We already know that God of War III will play a major role in Sony's presentations, and it's a no-brainer that inFamous (scheduled for a May 26 release, one week before the show) will also be in attendance. However, we're really liking the fact that Heavy Rain and White Knight Chronicles will make their presences felt; we haven't heard much of anything about the former in 2009, and we just got confirmation that the latter is indeed coming to North America. We can't wait to see and hear more about both. Then you've got MotorStorm: Arctic Edge and SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Fireteam Bravo 3 for the PSP fans, MAG (rapidly gaining attention these days), the recently announced Ratchet and Clank Future: A Crack in Time, the guaranteed awesomeness of Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, and a look at the impending zaniness of Fat Princess. It should be an absolutely fantastic show!

It's just a little worrisome that GT5 isn't on the list. With all these rumors about how it might actually show up this year, this absence from E3 all but erases that possibility from our minds. Oh well.

Until i see it on sony's website of what they have up their sleeves for E3 i'll just take this as a prediction. So we'll see but for what this list shows it looks like a good list. Fat Princess just looks really funny i've been waiting for this for PSN for awhile.

E3 Expo 2009 is a trade-only event and is not open to the general public.
No one under age 17 will be admitted, including infants.

Prior attendance at E3 Expo does not qualify you to attend the 2009 show. Two forms of current
industry identification must accompany your application before it will be processed.

The Management of E3 Expo 2009 reserves the right to deny any applicant a badge.

All attendees must be prepared to show valid government issued photo identification in order to pick up
their badge and/or badge holder at E3 Expo 2009.

you must be in the gaming industry in order 2 get in... i am not sure if that allowes gaming journalists in, but i think so

Hopefully GT5 is just one of their surprise games. It's hard to not be stoked about that list though it's going to be a great show for sony.

Too many good games coming out this year. I know this might sound blasphemous but, I'm kinda glad Sony is releasing GT5 sometime next year. Release it when the climate is right(not congested)and not competing for the same dollars as the other first party titles. I'm sure that Sony still going to show it. Maybe even give us a tentative window for a release *fingers crossed*.

That list looks suspiciously incomplete, and contains only games that have definitely been confirmed. Considering the number of games from third parties as well as the number of rumored first party games that might emerge as surprises, I have a feeling that this year's E3 will rock the gaming world.

All i can say is nothing is set in stone and could all change at the last hours leading up to the event. Maybe (I hope!) GT5 is done, and is gunna be one of those bomb shells that Sony drops catching everybody by surprise!!!! N E Thing can happen, should be awsome regardless!

Yeah I have to think GT5 is one of Sony's main game. If it's not on the list, that just means this list isn't complete. Besides it's not just GT5 for the ps3 anymore, it's also for PSP, so of course they want to get both attention.

Sony will need to be careful this coming 12 month period. With so many high quality games coming, they will want to stagger the releases so that they can maximize the individual game sales. There's no point releasing half a dozen triple A titles in one month only to see their sales become lack luster due to over saturation of the game market.

They'll have to carefully analyze just who will buy what and stagger the release schedule to ensure that there is minimal competitive overlap between titles selling to the same demographic, and complementary overlap between titles that sell to different groups.

I'm sure I'm going to catch some flak for saying this, but I'm kind of over the whole GT5 thing now. Maybe I burnt out playing the other 4 to death on the old systems, I don't know, but when I think of all the games coming out next year and the ones I currently own that I love to play, GT5 doesn't top my list.

I'm still having to much fun with Burnout, especially with the new cops and robbers pack, that GT5 just doesn't jump out at me anymore like it used to. I'm sure I'll give it a try when it comes out, but I don't think I have the time to do the endurance races anymore. Which may keep GT5 as a rental for me...but we'll see if and when the game ever launches.

Though, you seem like those Arcade racing games fans. That's fine, the Arcade racing games fan is not the biggest appreciator of GT's real driving simulation.

PS: This is one of the reasons why Polyphony cater more to their Japanese/European fanbase. The US is known for its lack of interest in real racing(Formula1, GT, Lemans, etc.)

No, I just think I burnt out on the simulators..I played the other 4 GT's until I had all the licenses, all the races, all the cars..etc..I was going to get prologue until I discovered it wasn't the full game...then I decided I would wait...but now I'm just not excited about the fact of doing all the license tests all over again.

But we'll see, I did have fun with Grid, which seems to be the closest racer so far, so maybe I'll still pick it up when this game comes up, I'm just not as excited about it as I used to be. It's gone from a definite buy on launch day, to I may pick this up if I see it on the shelf...

Lol, it could be Duke Nukem syndrome too, I'm getting tired of hearing about it...I just want to play it or forget about it.

I tried the demo for Prologue and wasn't really intrigued so I didn't bother with the "full" prologue.

We'll see what happens when the actual game launches, but all I'm saying is right now, there's other games I'm more excited about then GT5. I'm sure the graphics will be amazing and it will get great reviews, but all I'm saying is that if it's just a prettier version of GT 1-4, then I'll probably pass because I burnt myself out on the simulation racers while beating the others.

If they bring something new to the table that gets my attention I'll give it a try, but if they just make it prettier...than I'll look elsewhere. And by bringing something new I don't mean the drifting events either..Didn't like them in the Need for Speeds, Didn't like it in the demo..probably not going to like it in a full game either.

that's a bold opinion, and you know what, I'm with ya man. I don't know what it is, but GT just doesn't keep my attention like it used to. I know it's me and not the game, because the game will be amazing. I'll be waiting for the reviews .. and who knows, I might cave in :)

I'm with this guy. I like GT1 and 2. But now, that format seems dull to me. I think I've changed, but also I think games have gotten better, and that just seems like it's the same game with better graphics (I forgot, more cars). That doesn't make me want to buy it. Although maybe I am wrong, maybe if I tried it I would like it like old times. But my expectations are low for sure.

Supposedly this year in the Autumn.

If you are tired of waiting you can go to Play Asia and order the Asian market version, not the Japanese one, the one with the Chinese language - I'm reliably informed that it has also been localized for English speakers. The Asia version of Afrika is called Hakuna Matata.

im over GT5 i still want to play it its just that i fell like its been in dev for so long.
it feels like my kids will be great grand parents by the time that game comes out.
lets just hope they dont pull a DNF and go bust because they waited so long to release a game.
but quantum theroy and R&C crack in time are my 2 favorite games for this year, if i could only buy 2 games this year they would be the 2.
and 2K for christs sake finish developing DNF and release it dont just can it, why wouldent you release it i mean imagine how many copies that would sell everyone knows about it if not from DN 3D but from all the flack its been copping for being the chinese democracy of gaming.

I hope to purchase nearly all of those games (though 'Heavy Rain' and 'White Knight Chronicles' are the only ones that I simply could never be swayed away from), but I really hope Atlus announces that they'll be localizing 'Steambot Chronicles 2.' That game was one of three factors in my decision to get a PS3 (the other two being 'Metal Gear Solid 4' and 'Heavy Rain'), and that was nearly two years ago!
