GTAIV Lost And Damned Coming To PS3 Later This Summer?
In all honesty, it's something PlayStation 3 owners should definitely want, and something they're definitely missing.
As part of their "we'll-buy-anything-for-a-certain-price" endeavor, Microsoft managed to secure exclusivity for the Lost and Damned downloadable content for last year's gem, Grand Theft Auto IV. However, as Gamingfront reminds us, that exclusivity deal only lasts six months. ...hence, if we do the math, The Lost and Damned should be free of its constraints and become available to PlayStation 3 owners on August 20. Obviously, it's unlikely that the DLC will pop up on exactly that day on the PlayStation Network, but we wouldn't be surprised to see it arrive towards the end of summer some time. As many have said, outside of first-party projects, there really isn't much in the way of true-blue "exclusivity" left in this generation, and if you're talking about a game that was multiplatform since Day 1, well... It almost seems inevitable that The Lost and Damned would show up for the PS3 version of GTAIV at some point, and that's not just optimism talking. For those of you who are still annoyed that Microsoft managed to strike this deal: you're just gonna have to get over it.
We'll let you know when we hear more about this DLC for PS3 owners. You never know; it may be one of the big Sony announcements at E3.

It's possible. There are 1 million sales in GTA DLC, 20 dollars each download. Microsoft paid 50 million for 2 DLC. Looks like they lost 10 million dollars. Maybe microsoft gets royalty if they put it on PSN to compensate for their losts.

have you played saitnts row 2? Godfather 2, mercs 2...? and then have you played GTA4!! its plain and simple, GTA4 is not overrated. that is so obvious if you have ever played any of these games.... becuase that is where the industry is at the moment. GTA4 is beyond their dev for companies like EA, that is why they wanted R*
I do love the three games i mentioned before, but quality wise.. they dont come even close. now prototype, infamous and red faction look damn damn good.. but theyre not out yet, so you cant compare them.
as for not giving in to the DLC thing, i agree... but fact is that if you dont buy said DLC.. youre going to be very bored. your choice not to buy the dlc will not influence many and it wont stop any company from doing this dlc for money thing. so either buy and enjoy it... or dont buy it and play something else.
its like I hate it when the DLC is of things you can unlock if you try.. its pathetic that people like say EA charge you for this.. remember the Battlefield Bad company crap? thats nothing compared to what other companies (as well as EA) do these days.. but at the time everyone was going to boycote EA. ..but did they? no.. in fact everyone buys the dlc and enjoys it. so.. your choice. I will most likely get the DLC myself.

This generation's developers are going for every dollar possible in return, losing quality in their games. If you make a good game with added extra content for free, you probably don't get a good sales right away, but be a little patient. After a couple games, your reputation builds, and nothing is more important than that. No one telling you face-to-face, doesn't mean your fans don't know or appreciate the hard work being done. I'm fine with Microsoft paying to develop DLCs, but it'll only corrupt the future gaming industry if we continue.

If Rockstar waits 2 years to release their DLC, people pretty much have gotten over GTA IV already and moved onto another game. Gamers don't wait years for a DLC/spinoff. Some will, but the sales will drop to the point where your effort is wasted.

I really want to try it, but it's not something you can rent. Even if I could rent it I would have to get gta4 for the 360 at the same time.

Cause they didn't take much time to get out a game as big, realistic and top notch as GTAIV.
Just look at all the time we wasted waiting for Resident Evil 5 and it comes out and doesn't live up to the hype.Up till now we don't even have a top quality game from Square for the meantime,no Kingdom Hearts,no Dragon Quest,no FF.We don't even have our first God of War,The Getaway 3 was canned. 2 Godfathers came out and their below average. That leaves GTAIV as our only quality sand-box game to look up to.Go back to San Andreas and you realize GTAIV to a HUGE graphical leap forward.
The vehicles in GTAIV are even better looking than Burnout Paradise & NFS:Undercover, for a game as big as that you would expect some ugly looking cars but no! Please, GTAIV is never overrated,Rockstar deserves all the cred.
My only problem with this DLC on ps3 is that,i don't see ps3 points anywhere as we all don't have credit cards.Xbox live points are available in shops to cater for the credit cardless.

A retailer can sell a MS Point card for what ever price they want, but they can only sell a PSN card for how much they are worth. A $50 PSN card can only be sold for $50. A retailer can make money off of MS and Wii point cards by jacking up the price but not with PSN cards.
Wallmarts useually carry them though.

got home played it and about 3 days later i sunk, felt like a wrecking ball just pelted me in the gut thats how dissapointed i was.
i was like WTF thats it its finished already, and its such a SLOW starter for like the first third of the game your a taxi driver, no one wants to be one in real life so why would you want to be one in a game?
seriously that game DOES NOT deserve a 10 and alot of sites have admited that they were just hit buy the graphics and the city.
thats the only thing i can give R* credit for the city did blow me away but thats it, and once its done once youve finished story mode whats there to do??
kill pigions please theres plenty in my backyard to kill.
get 100% with your friends BORING its alot more fun going to a bar in real life getting shitfaced than doing it in a game.
GTA san andreas was the best and you know what i dont think they will ever beat that.
saints row 2 is better than GTAIV imo thats pritty embarasing

sony said that bought exclusives aren't always exclusive forever or something so it was pretty clear that something would come
GTAIV is not over rated, its just different to previous gen gta's
all it lacks is the humor and fun mini games that made the old ones

That said it was easily better than the too whacky San Andreas and just as good as VC was and the more realistic shooting system was a vast step forward in gameplay mechanics from the old "stand and spray" nonsense that felt like a shootout between GI Joe dolls! I finished iot in about a week-except for the pigeons IIRC and if we do get the DLC eventually will give it abother play for the trophies I was too quick for!
DLC is definitely a thing that certain devs abuse though. It started with patches being easily available and devs(hello Bethesda)almost making us do QA for them and has deteriorated to the point where Capcom chatge excessively for costumes and stuff prolly already on the disc and MS use ut as a weapon in the console war. Personally I'd much rather have R* announce their PS3 exclusive at E3 than find out all PS3 gets is sloppy seconds of what MS payed so very heavily for as DLC. It, (TL&TD)will come it's a matter of time how long the deal lasts with MS.
As for Fallout3(which IS overrated by a huge amount, barely worked at release and had two shonky or borked sombat systems AND failed to keep 5% of the atmosphere of the really good first two Fallout games OR be as good as Oblivion)and it's DLC-it was good to see Bethesda still, even with DLC, making gamers do the testing for QA! Whether we see that DLC on PS3 is beyond me as I will not be getting anything from Bethesda again until they treat us equally and deliver software when it works and not before.
If Criterion can get DLC so right with ads covering the costs, the DLC actually working and available everywhere why can't others? Deals like those MS are so fond of are unavoidable but do leave a nasty taste in your mouth when you feel you've supported a particular dev with your hard earned in the past. But, again, rather than finding out at E3 that the GTA4 DLC is coming I'd really rather that brand bew shiny exclusive that we were told was a done deal between Sony and R*(part of Sony allowing GTA4 to go multiplat IIRC). Often I'm done with a game when the DLC arrives in any case-there's a lot to be worked out concerning DD and DLC and we haven't got near anything as good as steam on consoles yet let alone sorted out devs that want to fleece us(Capcom).
