Best Buy Game Sale Starts This Week

As is typically the case, we experienced a big influx of quality titles towards the end of last year, which means most gamers out there didn't have the time - or money - to play them all.

Hence, it's no surprise that avid fans of the interactive hobby spend the first few months of the following year playing catch-up. And if you still haven't managed to finish off all the titles on your wish list from late last year or even early 2009, you might want to visit Best Buy this week. The retailer has announced a price cut for many of the generation's best titles on both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and that includes the recently released Street Fighter IV and MLB 2K9. You'll also find Resistance 2 and Skate 2 at a discounted price; all of these games will now have an attractive $40 tag, which is in stark contrast to the original $60 asking price. There are sure to be many other games that no longer feature the intimidating $60 cost so make sure to check the racks at Best Buy. There are bound to be a few interesting titles to consider and you won't have to make such a frightening dent in your wallet. Of course, you do have to remember that we're going to see several potential must-haves within the next three weeks or so, and that includes inFamous, Red Faction: Guerilla, and Prototype.

As usual, it all comes down to prioritizing and tough decisions. When's the last time we all had enough time and money to play everything we wanted to play? ...1987? It's hard to complain about such a big positive, though. ;)

Yeah, but there is a store called Ed McKays where I live and they ave Skate 2 for around 45 bucks. This is only $5 less, but that's $5 I can spend on food or something.

I live buy a mall, a best buy, a target, a wallmart, a sams club, and an f.y.e...they all sell it for 60...it sucks cause I want it so bad...especially before among thieves comes out...

Uncharted for $60!!?! Holy shit. I think the GameStop at my mall sells a used copy for $32-$35. It's a great game, (I've only played the demo but have seen the game from start to finish) - BUT it's not worth $60 due to how short it is. Isn't it like a....5-6 hour game or so? It's as long as Heavenly Sword pretty much. The gameplay is fun, the story is unique, the graphics are great, BUT GOD not worth $60 considering how long it is...

Having been out of college for a year now (wow, time flies), all I can say is 'stay in school kids' because having disposable income is a beautiful thing ...just don't forget about student loans :-P

...can't wait for inFamous (already have SFIV and Resistance 2 among others, lol)

Great advice.

Too many people today believe that they can do frak all at school and still believe that no matter what the circumstance or how little they may (or may not) have put into something, they are still entitled to all the trappings of success.

As you say disposable income is a wonderful thing to behold.

Why is Heavenly Sword still $59? This game has been out since September 12, 2007. Best Buy had a deal where you buy a 60 GIG PS3 and get Heavenly Sword or a free controller. I told the salesman that this game will be $20 by next year, boy was I wrong. I was following the price logic of all other games.

Not worth it; the closest Best Buy is about 20 miles away. I still haven't played Resistance 2, but will wait for the price to go down further. Besides, I heard it wasn't good.

I completely dismissed Red Faction and here you're mentioning it as a "potential must have." That blows my mind. InFamous shot up my most desired list when I saw that recent trailer, but Red Faction?? Really? I guess I should look around for some info on that.

Actually, I totally dismissed it, too....that is, until I played the demo. I demo really sold me on it. Also, I really like that they changed it to 3rd-person view.
It runs quite smooth, and there is destruction everywhere!

Honestly, for adults with reasonable salaries, video games are not an expensive hobby at all. Consider: you can buy every platform out there for less than a grand, and then a mere 50-60 bucks for any newly-released game that comes out. I drop $100 every time I go out to the bars on Friday nights! Compare that to, say, cars -- getting any kind of car that is remotely cool costs tens of thousands of dollars, plus god knows how much for all the upgrades. Aside from bird watching, I can't think of a hobby more wallet-friendly.

Of course, grown up money comes with grown up responsibilities, and I'm sure many of us just don't have the time to play everything we'd like. I'm always thankful for this time of year when nothing huge comes out for a while. We NEED this time to catch up on the great titles we missed.

I live in Malaysia so I don't have stuff like Gamestop or Best Buy all this.

Converting those to my country's currency it's quite expensive, but then again.
Who knows, maybe in november all those price will drop.
And I'm surprised bout Uncharted and Resistance 2's price!!!
Uncharted has been out for some time now and it's 10$ behind MGS4, and Resistance 2 has been out for almost 6 months and it's the same as KZ2!!!
Hope that the price will drop months later.
