Ninja Gaiden III For "Both Audiences"
The Ninja Gaiden saga has been an interesting one this generation. The original was exclusive to the Xbox, but Tecmo made a remake/port in the form of Ninja Gaiden Sigma for the PlayStation 3. Then, Ninja Gaiden II came out - exclusive to the Xbox 360 - and we recently heard that Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 is on the way to the PS3.
So why not just stop all this and make the next installment a multiplatform simultaneous release? Well, that appears to be Tecmo's intention: according to a recent Kikizo interview with the boss of Team Ninja, Yosuke Hayashi, Ninja Gaiden 3 is "better off" being an entirely new game for "both audiences." Even though Tomonobu Itagaki had said NGII would be the final installment in the series, Hayashi says otherwise. As he stated in the interview:
"What the gamers are looking for is going to be the next chapter - the future of an outstanding series. We feel that we're in a position of being able to make that call... That calling is already there - we feel it."
Also, he confirmed that Sigma 2 would indeed remain exclusive to the PS3 (there are no plans to release an upgrade via XBLA for NGII). And to essentially confirm a multiplatform NGIII, Hayashi said, "we're going to have to push ourselves to the next level, and we are better off giving both audiences an entirely new game." This is probably the best way to approach things; the other way gave PS3 owners the better versions, but they had to wait a while. This is just...easier.

An attack of common sense!? If you're going to make a game for both the 360 and PS3, why not make the game once instead of dowing two versions? Holy cow! Give these guys a prize for working it out.

They'll find their lives a whole lot easier if they use the PS3 as the lead platform for this as well.

Now all we need is EA and BioWare giving PS3 owners Mass Effect 2 and we are set. But of course that's a discussion for another day : )

But yeah, I can't really speak for Ninja Gaiden on NES cause' I never played them. Mind telling me what the latest games are lacking?
