Play As Raiden In New MGS4 DLC?

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots

Everyone's talking about Hideo Kojima's new project - the current rumor is that it'll be announced on the 18th, a few short days away - but what about the possibility of new downloadable content for Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots?

According to PS3.Kombo, a new rumor has arisen: Konami will announce "Raiden-based DLC;" it will launch with the long-awaited Trophy patch for MGS4. Basically, all you Snake fans will step into the capable shoes of Raiden for two chapters, although we're not sure if those chapters are part of the original MGS4 story. Wouldn't it be awesome if they were all new sections to that intricate plot? Portions of the story we've never seen before, rather than just the same story seen through Raiden's eyes...? At the same time, the MGS4-on-360 rumor has returned as well: supposedly, it will come to Microsoft's machine next spring, and the game will be loaded with all available DLC. Well, we'll leave that for another time; let's focus on this Raiden thing. Remember when it was believed that Kojima's new game would be a prequel featuring this same character? Is it at all possible that similar information has been used to create both rumors? It's hard to know what to believe these days, but we assume the air will clear some time next week...

And don't get all freaked out about MGS4 going to the 360. Even if it does happen, the fact that PS3 owners had it in 2008 (as opposed to 2010) is solace enough. Besides, Konami has once again shot down that rumor, saying: "unfortunately we are still not working on a 360 version of MGS4. However, we're revealing something." (source- Game of Honor)

Interesting. Though who cares who has this game? Doesn't matter how much earlier you have something, because both parties have it ultimately. But I wish there was a more "shocking" announcement, as promised (maybe not?).

Why is it this is the last thing all the M$ fanboys have left. They know theres a steller line up on the ps3 and nothing even bleeping on radar for 360. They know that the PSN is getting better every week while XBL hasnt changed a whole heep in 3 years. Oh hey i know guys, lets start the MGS4 on 360 rumor again. Heres what i predict, kojima will hear about this and once again have to open his front door in the morning and say " NO!!!!" * closes door.* Hes already said that bringing MGS4 would run high production costs due to the fact he would have to hire another team to do the job. Its not happeneing. IMO. Besides, would they even be able to make it on 360 DVD? hmm maybe they would have to make like 5 DVD set.

Umm, maybe this is "The Next Metal Gear?" thing we saw with an image that looked like Raiden... who knows. But I'm sure the DLC will be cool.

come on ..on that year the people that really want to play it would buy a PS3 also gonna get another goodies like Infamous,Heavy Rain,GOW3, MAG,Uncharted 2 and Grand Turismo 5.

DLC for the game itself and trophies? Nice rumor, one I'd be happy to see become real. Been looking for a reason to pull MGS4 out for a few more playthroughs, and this would definately be reason to do it. :)

360 can get MGS4 for all I care, most PS3 owners have already enjoyed this classic. It will be annoying as hell thought seeing the 360 fanboys doing the tootsie roll and then claiming victory over the PS3.I am just hoping that Kojima's big announcement is the DLC plus more.

Did anyone notice the computers they used in MGS4? They were Apple computers running OSX haha. Not to mention the Ipod they give you. Maybe some kind of hint there? Not that those simple things couldn't be edited out for a 360 version. But maybe some kind of indicator that umm 360 = no go? Apple IS after all M$'s main competitor in the PC world.

Yeah, how could I forget that one? lol I think when folks look back, they tend to look at MGS Substance and Subsistance and assume MGS4 will follow suit. What they forget however, is that the original Xbox had more than enough power for those ports. A port of MGS4 would require some hefty downsampling, and some editing here and there. Besides, if those computers were edited to run Windows instead of OSX, they might crash and create even longer cut-scenes!

Subsistence was never on Xbox. Only MGS2:Substance got a port, and even back then there were technical issues, since it had been optimized for PS2.

I doubt it. This sounds like they put work into this, and a couple of chapters with Raiden warrants a price tag, in my opinion. I'd have no problem paying for it, personally. It's not like they're gonna pull a Capcom on us.

isnt a versus mode or costumes...2 chapter would add like 3-5 hours?? thats a good dlc I would pay 10-15 dollars for it.

Yeah, true. I also own a 360. Currently on #5. Snake just happens to be my favorite character of all time and I wanted something to pass on to the next generation. Maybe when my disfigured body is found in a wreck years from now, someone will look at my tattoo and think "who's this guy?" It's probably the only tattoo I'll ever get. Plus it's on my back, covered by a shirt. I don't go around showing it off. It's Snake, pure and simple, not a Playstation. If MGS4 came to 360, it wouldn't bother me in the least. Hell, if it had enough extras, I'd buy it.

Apparently 360 fanboys were all victims of some elaborate raid where PS3s were killing their pets, destroying their 360s, and invading their homes. But honestly I think all fanboyism starts with egos. What begins as a simple argument on justifying their purchases, quickly flares up into all sorts of mess. Eventually they lose sight of why they are gamers in the first place, and basically they are defending nothing but their own ego. That's what sucks about this gen, it's hard to state your case without being scolded and ultimately labeled a fanboy. Like I can't say I refuse to purchase another 360 (yes I've owned 1 solely for NG2/DOA4) for Star Ocean because I'd rather wait to see a PS3 version surface. *sigh* That automatically means I'm a fanboy in some people's minds. Whatever, I'm just eager to see what happens on Monday with this announcement.

Ok, it's time for one of my (famous) rants. I know that the term fanboy has been around for a long time. However, it seems that it didn't start applying to game consoles until the xbox fanbase surfaced. All of my friends were going on and on about Halo for years until it finally came out. When it did, that's all they would play. A whole two years after it's release I remember walking into my friends house with Zone of the Enders and saying "Hey, I got a new game, lets check it out. "I'd rather play Halo" my friend responded. Really? Your that obsessed with a single game? You can't welcome anything new into your little gaming world? Of course, I didn't say this. I politely went home and played the game myself. Now, almsot ten years later, I have two roomates who can do nothing but brag about how much better the 360 is and try to rub it in my face every chance they get. I don't understand why, cause I OWN BOTH FREAKIN SYSTEMS!!!! I got a 360 on day one. I wanted Oblivion so badly that I salivated on my pillow in my sleep until it finally came out. I played DOA4 and Fight Night Round 3 until my fingers bled. All of these so called fanboys fired their guns first, we just had to fire back and defend our positions. Stop calling the Playstation a faliure, it's not. Stop believing that you're a hardcore gamer when your introduction to gaming was Halo. Stop with all of the madness. I enjoy any good exclusive game for either system, and I buy my third party games for them depending on reviews and extra content. There should be competition, but it doesn't have to be a war involving slander, racists terms, and bragging. I care not about gamerscore, trophies, or any of this BS. I play games for fun. If you think your console is better, your not a fanboy, your an ignorant asshole.

haha Wow good rant and I JUST posted my comment (I'm typing with my PS3 controller). Seems we're both frustrated with the whole fanboy thing. Yeah man I feel the same way about this fanboy thing beginning majorly with Xbox and Halo. I'm just reluctant to say so cause' I'd sound like a you-know-what. Also, I know there was some hate there already with Ninty fanboys, but really it's become quite epic since the first Xbox came out. I owned the original Xbox as well for Steel Batallion and Capcom vs Snk 2, also DOA3.

Yeah, I read your rant. Preach it brother. Oh, I had an original Xbox as well. Didn't have a single problem with it either. I played the hell out of Splinter Cell and Mech Assault. Not to mention Advent Rising (one of my faves of all time) and Legacy of Kain: Defiance. Yes, I own all three Halo games and love them. I can trace my gaming roots to Pitfall for Atari and the original Super Mario Bros. I think that the problem is that we are fighting a war against a bunch of children (literally). I know that everyone couldn't get their start with all of the classics that I did simply because of their age, but it's just going to get alot uglier as time passes. It's almost time for me to leave gaming behind altogether and pursue other interests. Well, until they make another Metal Gear :) About the PS3 controller: that sucks, I did that for a while myself. Finally saved up enough for a decent laptop.

Ben this news is already debunked by Kojima Productions, thes said there will be no 360 version, but that they will announce something this Monday, maybe Trophy support and the Real end of Old Snake he mentioned last year.

It could be a total new game too

The funny thing about porting it to Microsoft's system is the stuff that would possibly have to be taken out during the process. All the Mac computers, the iPod, the funny conversation between Snake and Otacon about switching discs; all that kinda stuff. It would become less a labor of love and more of something else entirely.

I like UT3 due to the free DLC. I hope they follow suit with this. Of course, if the chapters are entirely new, I wouldn't mind shelling out as much as $15 or so for it. and Bomber makes a good point. Too much would have to be changed in order for it to be on the 360.

You guys realize that there is almost 50 free items of DLC for this game already, right? Just gotta download it within the game. Music, podcasts, and camo. They've been doing around one item a week for almost a year. Nobody can say crap.

I dont understand why the MGS4 360 rumor still continues to breathe. From my understanding Kojima used up the entire blue ray disc. How is MGS4 supposed to fit on a DVD with Added content? I understand they could use more then one DVD but it doesnt seem likely seeing as how Kojima said it himself about 1000 times that wants MGS4 to stay with the PS3.

Just because some PS exclusive were multiplats doesn't mean all are going to be.
Fanboys should know that and Sony didn't lose a lot of exclusives, only FF and Tekken.

I don't care what anyone says, I liked Raiden in MGS2. Sure he was no Snake, but he can hold a game on his own.

I've actually been thinking about going back and replaying MGS4. Guess I better wait until that announcement. I would love to have MGS4 trophies on my profile.
