Rumor: Square-Enix To Reveal Three New Titles At E3
Remember last year when Square-Enix turned the video game world on its head by announcing Final Fantasy XIII for the Xbox 360 at E3? Well, they probably can't top that this year, but word is that they still might turn some heads at E3 2009...
According to Aussie site GamePlayer, the press can expect Square-Enix to reveal "no less than three big surprise games which are currently unannounced - at least two of which are mutli-format." The latter part of that bit of news isn't exactly surprising, but the first part takes us a bit by surprise: three unannounced projects? What might they be? We know a lot of you have been waiting to hear about another Kingdom Hearts and while there's no concrete evidence for it, we still hold out hope. But what are the other possibilities? What are the other franchises in Square-Enix's arsenal? Could it be another iteration in the Final Fantasy series of some sort? We don't really need another one; we just want FFXIII and perhaps more news on Final Fantasy Versus XIII, but we wouldn't mind to see something like Vagrant Story 2... Yeeeeaaaah, baby! How about that? Then there's the archaic rumor of another installment in the Chrono franchise - you may recall that talk from several years back concerning a title called "Chrono Break" - and we would most definitely welcome such a project. As for more handheld titles, we're really not interested (as fantastic as Crisis Core); we're most interested in next-gen games for the next-gen consoles. ...and the Wii don't count.
So let the grand debate begin. You have about a week before E3 arrives and until then, let's see what ideas you can come up with.

BTW I thought Square-Enix isn't showing up at E3 because of swine flu... Although i could be wrong.

They may also finally announce The Last Remnant coming to PS3 in the future.
The thing with time-exclusivity is that they can't formally announce anything related to anything outside of what they are currently exclusive to. So, I'm guessing the Last Remnant has a 18-month or 1-year exclusivity clause. Until that time is up, they can't say a word.

What if they do this during the Sony press conference - that would be a huge thriller don't you think? Last year it was all Square Enix giving to MS...this year...Square Enix swaying back to Sony?
Only I can hope. Not that there's anything wrong with multiplatform stuff...but there's definitely something wrong when you think it's "unfair" to other console owners...when a certain other who owns the other "console" gets a demo of a game first.
God Square Enix shape up.

Oh great...make a even bigger backlogged bottleneck of games, before you've even finished the first set.
If so, SE's should get their very own "jumping the shark" award.

Regarding Wii8 games, without a Nintendo sticker on it, Wii software isn't that big a seller. While PS3 and 360 are certainly 3rd party friendly from a sales point of view, the Wii is not. That said, much like the PS2 is only 2% of all Wii owners buy a game that's a million copies sold. So the advantages of scale start to have an effect.
Even so, if you can motivate 4% of PS3 owners and about 3.5% of 360 owners to buy your game, not only will you sell a million copies, but those copies retail for about $20 more than the Wii game, which is a fairly huge impact in the revenue department. And as we all know, even in Japan only 50% of all Wii owners bought the thing for games.

Funnily enough, aren't there three RPGs already released on 360 that would very easily make a 3 game announcement if they arrived on PS3? Infinite Undiscovery, The Last Remnant and Star Ocean 4. The only on of those three that remotely interests me is Star Ocean, and that's mostly because I'm playing through SO2 on the PSP right now.
Bah! If it doesn't involved the PS3, then I'm not interested in pronouncements by SquEnix. Their recent press handling has been so disjointed, disorganized and confusing it might as well have been handled by that mythical room full of monkeys with typewriters. Aw hell, replace the monkeys with crack addled chimps.

I have a good feeling that the exclusive will be a DS game, because DQIX is about to be finished, they need a new DS project.
Multi-platform 1: (PS3)
This one has to be Star Ocean 4(PS3)like Highlanders said. They need to cover up and pretend they want to win back their fans with a port.
Multi-platform 2: (PS3/Xbox)
I bet they are making some action game like Neir from the Eidos branch. They have to get some good use right after they bought them out with MS's money.

I know that they haven't done the best job this generation, but I really think they could make it truly amazing, they have all the right tools.
Just wishful thinking, and something else that would make me literally drop a deuce.

Umm... I would absolutely LOVE to hear about a new Chrono game. Even though I'm 95% certain that a title like that would go multiplatform. I think only us Playstation owners would appreciate it though.
