Quantic Dream Talks Heavy Rain, No Indigo Prophecy Sequel
As most of you well-educated gamers know, Quantic Dream is currently working on the PlayStation 3 exclusive, Heavy Rain. Those of you familiar with this studio's work in the past - including the atmospheric Indigo Prophecy last generation - are aware of their great emphasis on storyline and characters.
This is what you can expect from Heavy Rain, certainly, but as the two aforementioned projects are indeed similar, we've been wondering: might there ever be an IP2, or does this new project have anything to do with the original Prophecy? Well, thanks to a recent 1Up interview with Quantic Dream boss David Cage, we learn a bit more about this. In response to the question, "Did Heavy Rain ever start out in your head as an Indigo Prophecy Sequel," Cage replied:
"In fact, yes. After Indigo, I wanted to work on something different because I thought the game would be a commercial disaster. It was really different from what the industry was doing and there was absolutely no hype about emotion or narrative. But when we started talking to publishers, many of them told us they loved Indigo and they were interested in publishing the sequel.
So I started thinking of Indigo 2 but I quickly realized I had nothing more to say on this story and these characters. I really enjoyed the time I spent with them, but they were attached to a moment in my life, and I had moved on. I wanted to write something more personal, deeper, more adult, with no world to save and no supernatural powers."
He also goes on to talk about how Sony approached the team after Indigo Prophecy and offered them some PlayStation 3 development kits, and from there, the tech demo for Heavy Rain made a tremendous impact at E3 2008. Some say Sony isn't proactive enough when it comes to approaching independent developers but obviously, in this case, they saw something they wanted and went for it. Quantic Dream has said many times in the past that Heavy Rain is only possible with Sony's immensely capable hardware.
But no, Heavy Rain isn't a sequel to Indigo Prophecy and we can't really expect one any time soon. Well, that's okay. Their current project appears to be pretty damn promising, doesn't it?

I know this game is going to bomb horribly. Sony is gonna have a real hard time to promote this game and convince everyone to buy it.
Most people will just rent it, if they even touch it.
P.S. I'm not saying it's going to be a bad game for sure, but it just looks boring. Hopefully I'm completely off and it turns into one of the best experiences of this generation.
A game full of QTE isn't exactly my version of fun.

(i like that as well)the footage of the fbi guy trying to escape the car crusher was actually quite intense.Heavy rain won't be everyones cup of tea but it certainly is mine, theres atleast a couple of replays worth in this game, your character can die and the game continues with someone else,no game over screens! how cool is that?
