Big Boss Makes Presence Felt At Kojima Teaser Site?

That darn countdown has started again and this time, something very specific has been added: a revealing picture.

If you check the teaser site for Hideo Kojima's new project, the countdown is back and after you wait a few seconds, the picture you see here pops up. At first, there was some argument concerning the character's identity, but the common consensus now is that it's Big Boss from the Metal Gear Solid franchise. Now, at last check, we had a "5" accompanied by an "E" and a "3," both of which are fairly telling and even obvious. The addition of a lowercase "e" got people thinking it was actually an "S" for "Snake," which prompted even more discussion. But now that we have this picture, it's difficult to see it as anything else: there must be a new MGS in the works; the only question that remains is what exactly is it, and what are the intended platforms? The good news for PlayStation loyalists is that the upcoming X360 Famitsu issue has no mention of the game, and Kojima has never wanted to put his games on Microsoft platforms. But we'll just have to wait and see. E3 drops next week and hopefully, everything will be all cleared up and we can start anticipating the next big PS3 (or PSP) exclusive!

As if you haven't thought about this enough already, right? But hey, feel free to speculate and discuss to your heart's content. Absolutely nothing wrong with that. ;)

Big boss would whoop any mgs characters ass in less than ten seconds except the boss[took about 3mins & solid snake,who beat him twice.
Solid snake is triple hardcore but he deserves a rest after all the sh!t he was put through last time round,

I like big boss too,he's got a better sense of humor(well he did before he shot you know who)more big boss means more ocealot !! huurray!
A solidus story on how he found raiden would be cool but he did'nt get an eyepatch untill mgs2 and i think it was on the other side of the face from big boss wasn't it?

Two games :

Metal Gear 5 Raiden PS3 exclusive (That's explains the 5 number on the teaser site).

Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops 2 PSP exclusive (That's explains the P letter on the teaser site).

Both to be shown at E3 (That's explains the E3 letters on the teaser site).

Maybe it's a portable ops redone for the ps3. I wouldn't mind that, as i think that more story elements would be redone and or at least better explained. Also that would explain the R that shows up...probably for remake!?

Also they could improve gameplay being that they have better hardware such as the cell and blu ray. Don't forget the dual shock 3...that definitely pwns psp button layout.

for real, the R makes me hope for Raiden game, the controls Kojima had at the end of mgs 2 (the battle with soldius) was awesome hope it's there.

It would suck to make a MGS5 that looks worse than MGS4, so doubt they'll switch from PS3 to Xbox.

Kojima insisted on keeping the title on Playstation family, but if he's announced that he won't be involved in the next title, then it's a question if his teammates can resist those large checks from MS.

I was in the same position a while ago Qubex and I must say, when I finally played MGS4, I was kicking myself for having waited. If you have to finish KZ2 fine. But MGS4 should be next on your list.

I haven't beaten the game yet.. i'm savoring the moment.

Having not beaten the game, i also haven't touched the online play yet. Just one of my things, I have to finish the single player portion of any game before hoping online.

Since i read some of the comments that Kojima made on the interview it seems like that guy on the picture is not Big Boss, Kojima kept calling him this "elderly man", so it might not be Big Boss.

And few of the people on the Japanese forums are saying that the "elderly man" might be Solidus Snake.

Also there was another photo that looked like it was Raiden, and it might be because he had some rivalries with Solidus in MGS2...or some of the people speculate it might be The Grey Fox. I'm not sure but i hope it's something to do with either of them. It would be pretty cool to play as all 3 of them.

Answer: NO! Most multiplatform games tend to be crap anyways with the 360 always holding back the PS3. You should be content with all the exclusives Microsoft secures and steals, not every game needs to be multiplaftform.

Fact: Xbots are just bitter because they spend $400 on a 360 and couldn't wait a year for the PS3. This is called buyer's remorse

In conclusion, if you want to play Metal Gear Solid, go buy a PS3!

Big Boss....hmmm. What if he's the villain? A remake of the original MG would is still in my highest of hopes. Of course, I guess we still need to bridge the gap between MGPO and MG right? Whatever they have up their sleeves, it will be something amazing. They're too smart to build up this much for nothing. Going to wipe (haven't done that yet). Makes me wonder who the hell is the father of Big Boss. Heh, Kojima would probably answer that question with "Me"

Damn Ben, you beat me to it, cause I've been watching the site for almost the last 1/2 hour, LOL. I went over to see what would happen when the timer ended & found it reset, & showing 115:18:10 when I got there.

so PS3 exclusive, Re is for Remake, and E3 means it's gonna be announced at E3. And the pic of Big Boss is when he's older, so it can't be MGS3 Remake, or Portable ops for that matter. Could be an MG or MG2 remake.

This turning out to be dlc for MGS4 would be beyond awesome it would be "beyonsome"(i need to stop watching Bolt).

Whether it's dlc or a new game disc matters not to me for we are being graced with some more kissass... kickass... I need to work on my vocabulary. lol

A story concerning Solidus and Raiden would be awesome, and if you think about it they have a good story plot concerning the child soldier stuff which I strongly believe might play a role in the next installment.

Kojima in Famitsu said to take note of the symbol on the cap of the man. It says "militaires sans frontiers" in Latin I think. Probly means 'soldiers without borders' or sumthin. Also the symbol below the phrase looks like a skull with eyepatch not a map. Does anyone know wat it cud mean? I'm guessing a Big Boss Cult or society of some kind.

Yeah, the code seems to be in random order & doesn't repeat itself in any sequence(see my code in another post above), but I think that letter's themselve aren't random in their meaning somehow & that Hojima's scrambling the groups of letters & their sequences around.

I took last week's code "5-E-3 to mean
MS#5 at E3

Well I think it's pretty obvious that whatever the game is Kojima is going to announce is that it is definitely set in the Metal Gear Universe.

Even thou I'm all for some more Metal Gear I was actually hoping it would be something completely new from him.

Raiden....... but his story is over after MGS4 at the end we see Radien out for his exoskeleton suit, with his body reconstructed. Why is he back like that again?

The Big Boss image is lovely though, i'm intruiged.

They just released MGS4 a tad over a year ago, so I seriously doubt it will be anything big, like MGS5. It takes probably 3-4 years to make a proper sequel. So, expect a 'real' MGS5 announcement at next year's E3.

Given the timeframe (in development), and Kojima's love for West (not a great thing, imo), I'm guessing it will be 2 games:

1. MGS4 DLC for the PS3 (hopefully with a Trophy patch)
2. A new game that is multiplatform (probably a Metal Gear spin-off, so they can create a new series that is multiplat from day one)

Hi there

Does anybody else see the odd things going down the side of the screen? The only way I can think to descibe it is like letters (or other) in stealth camo from MGS1. Now this may be just me viewing it on a dodgy internet connection.

They are moving pretty fast too - too fast for me to react to screenshot them but one that I got a half look at looked like the ! from above soldiers heads.

Anyone else seen this?

Yeah, I saw a couple of fast dropping rectangles a couple times myself, during the 1/2 hour I watched yesterday, but they never returned after they dropped the 2nd time.

Kind of reminded me of two different shaped "tetris" blocks(1 thin flat block on top of 1 fat elongated rectangular block) that dropped into place, but then they just disappeared altogether after that.

If it is Big Boss it could be another game where we play as Big Boss there was only 3 and then when they re did it with Substance. I doubt it could be Big Boss again but you never can tell. If it is Big Boss it will be just like playing as Snake again like no. 3 was even though it was BB.

Any Metal Gear game is good as far as I am concerned. Snake is gone as much as I don't want to say it so it could be someone new. I can't see them re-using Snake once Kojima has said he is gone from it.

It could also be a remake for PSP like another Portable Ops game.

I am hoping for MG 5 so fingers crossed :)

I'm pretty sure it wont be a PSP game, The BB image is far too detailed, even for a cover shot. look at the Portable Ops cover, the figures are pretty basic.

Yup, they're what I saw, but they came down the left side of the screeen when I saw them.

I think they're part of the clues too, like either logos, markers, badges, or something else along those lines.

These code letters are one of those illusions that you see what you want to see.

E-e-P-R-3-5

E = sideways M
e = upside down G
P = P
R = R
3 = 3
5 = actually its read as S

so the final code is..... *scrambles word*

like zanzibar, grey fox...where it all started...and maybe that isnt big boss...after all snake and him where cloned what if thats the orginal snake...and its basicly remaking the orginal...

another thing i can say is the story is kinda mixed its suppose to be MGS3 - MGS1 - MGS2 - MGS4...so after mgs3 if anyone remembers big boss vanished we played as snake then...so maybe mgs5 is the finish of the big boss story??

I MUST SIMPLY correct myself...you guys if you reread i said to go back in the to after the mgs3 story if yall play them then you know...you played as big boss in MGS3 you remember he had sex with eva...and the philosophers legacy...??
if you remember it correctly then snake and liquid are the makings of big boss which then leads to the mgs story which leads to MGS2 which leads to mgs4...

i said the wrong thing, but big boss is snakes father...i didnt mean clone i meant son in the attempt of a clone

and after MGS3 we remember seeing Naked Snake saluting to the grave of the women he killed which was named big boss and since you kill her then there is a new man in town that is as good as her so your then named Big Boss...

so technicaly MGS - 2 - 4 is the ending of Snake

MGS3 is the beginning of Big Boss...as we dont know what happened after he left the story...but Big Boss and the ending of MGS4 the guy in the wheelchair (Major Zero) we dont know there story

Well actually if you play Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops, Metal Gear, and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, that fills in what happens to Big Boss before MGS1. But there's still a lot more that could be filled in. I'd like to see a game where the Les Enfants Terribles project takes place in the early days of the Patriots. Come to think of it, the logo on BB's hat may suggest this game will take place during and shortly after the project.

Oh yeah this is the game where we play as Big Boss and battle our son/clone Solid Snake.
Solid news! Simply Solid, even if there is no confirmed idea of what we are looking at.
If there is anything I have learned from following Kojima is that all speculations could be dirt wrong and we end up with a fighting game of some sort. The man is a genius! Screw all those other stars I would probably faint if I met Kojima. Yes, I am a loser.

If you look at those Famitsu scans, they show the two faces aswell as the letters/number. It appears that there will also be a 6 and a 0 to flash up at somepoint, and with a 3 already up there could it mean 360?

However since the 3 is already up there it could be unrelated and the 0 could infact be a o. But what about the 6? It's certainly interesting

Watched the site again last nite for 1 1/2 hour & here's the codes I took from it starting at 92:57:00.

Notice that there's as many as 6 letters that have added to some of the code now. And here's something else to ponder too: The S could be either the letter S or the number 5, and the small e could be the an e or maybe it could be his abbreviation for the @ computer sign too.

Also those couple of tetris type blocks that were coming down occassionally seem to had stopped now.
