God Of War III Street Release Date: January 13, 2010?

God of War III is arguably the most anticipated PlayStation 3 exclusive project of the generation thus far, but every time we bring it up the inevitable response is a one-word question: "when?!"

At this point, most believe we won't see SCEA Santa Monica's masterpiece until March of next year, which remains quite feasible. But what if it managed to drop a few months earlier...? Well, thanks to a PSXE reader - Javon27 - we have the possible indication that GoWIII will launch in January rather than March. Apparently, as a Blockbuster employee, he just received word that one of their entertainment vendors of DVDs and games lists a street date of 01/13/2010 for GoWIII, and that should stir up some discussion and controversy. We know we're going to be seeing a lot of this game at E3 next week and most are expecting Sony to announce a solidified release date at the same time; it still seems very unlikely that it'll make it this year, but the earlier the better. We'll look around to see if other retailers might be able to confirm or deny that same street launch but until then, we'll just have to cross our fingers. Typically, January isn't exactly loaded with high-profile "AAA" releases - for obvious reasons - so having a game like GoWIII available then would be a tremendous boost.

Ideally, we have less than a week before a release date becomes official but it's just a "wait-and-see" scenario for now.

Well, I take exception to it being the most anticipated exclusive. I _still_ think that title goes to GT5 hehe, then again, I'm in love with that game, so, whichever, opinions vary =).

Either way, GoWIII is highly anticipated by this reader for sure, definitely a preorder, but...if I had the choice between buying GoWIII and GT5, my money'd go to GT5.

Sooner the better I say. Don't skimp on old fashioned Kratos action just to get it out the door, but it's been long enough. I'll be sure to keep some money in the pocket for January.

technically, it wasn't sony's fault

sony did their job to get the game venders prepaired to notify their customers when to expect the game... unfortunetly someone at one of the said customers happened to be a sony gamer, and took notice to what is technically "Legit Buisness", so it was no ones fault... the leak would have happened anyway (no doubt, somewhere else on the vast network we call the internet, someone else has spilled the beans...)

to put blame on this is immature and just wrong... but that's just My Oppinion...

Burnout Paradise did okay in January.

If it isn't ready for Xmas, they shouldn't rush it (see UTIII sales).

Plus, GOW has always sold well releasing in March.

Oh, I very strongly disagree.
When you have a game like this (part of a big franchise, I mean), people are definitely going to buy it. It's just a matter of when they can do so.
And if there isn't much in the way of competition during the rest of the month, even more people will buy it because it'll be the best (or at the very least, one of the best) of said month. So I think it would be a smart move to release it in January or some other seemingly unconventional time.

there is no doubt in my mind that GoW 3 will be as good or better than GoW 2 and be at the top of the charts for the ps3 (or any console), just like what GoW 2 did with the ps2

ps. kratos is best known for destroying the competition

To be honest, I think this is a marketing strategy. I think Sony will set things up, so that they have a Triple-A title, being released every month during the holiday season. GoWIII in January...would HAVE to mean, that something even larger is going to hit for Christmas, which could very well coincide with the rumored Dec 1st launch of GT5, from Amar over at GTPlanet. Coupled with a price drop at the holidays....and there's a tremendous...tremendous amount of momentum for Sony to carry into the months of Jan-April.

I just started the GOW series, Im nearing the end of GOW and LOVE it, then I'll play GOW2 and ChainsofOlympus...Hope January is true for GOW3. :D

Don't like that date b/c most games lose their goty status when they are release early in the year even thought I really want to play it now.If it won't make it this year than it should be in the middle of the next.

I haven't played any of the God Of War games, but before yall shoot me the bird, I have been convinced that I'm missing out on somethig real good. So I'll be buying God of War III, can't back up for the older ones because I gave my ps2 to my nephew.

Brand new for $60? I would do that, but not used, I would want the money going in Sony's pocket. $100 + price of games = too high for me to justify 2 or 3 last gen games.

Cool, i'm almost finished paying for my pre-order. But i may upgrade to collectors if it's worthy. Release date on my pre-order went from March 2010 to 2010 at ebgames I asked and they said the release date was removed so now it's just year 2010? well we'll see.

Oh for fu** sake. Just because it's in a computer it doesn't mean it's the date. This always happens and it pisses Me off. It happened for GTA IV and just proves that they are always wrong.
