Wolfenstein Confirmed For August 4
Although it's not grabbing the headlines, it could very well be one of the most anticipated shooters of the year.
And now, according to Joystiq, Activision has just announced that the Raven Software-developed Wolfenstein will release on August 4 for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC. Once again, you will assume the role of US soldier BJ Blazkowicz as he fights his way through Nazis and swarms of supernatural beasties. You may remember Return to Castle Wolfenstein and if you enjoyed that adventure, chances are, you're going to have a blast with this one. It was originally announced as a timed exclusive for the Xbox 360 but apparently, enough time passed and now it's going to launch simultaneously on the 360 and PS3, so that's good news. There aren't many FPSs out there that you have fighting Nazis and monsters at the same time but what the hell; we should be lumping those two things in together anyway, right? The media we've seen thus far has been plenty promising and we're just hoping it doesn't become another generic FPS that receives little more than a passing glance. I was a big fan of RtCW and I've been waiting for a Wolfenstein launch date for a while.
Provided Raven Software does their job, it's bound to be entertaining. Oh, and be on the lookout for some bad-ass weaponry, too!
