Kojima Teaser Site: The Mask Appears

Oh Kojima, what are you doing to us? First it was the countdown, then came the flashes of lightning that revealed more hints (a "5," an "E" and a "3," plus a pic of what appeared to be Big Boss but probably wasn't), and now...Mask?

Take a look at the evidence for yourself. First, visit the Kojima Productions page over at Konami; it quite simply shows us the intimidating photo of a mask, with the title "Mask" as part of the webpage description. There's the Kojima Productions logo in the upper right, too. Then, check out the teaser site; as you can see, that mask symbol has appeared in the bottom right, superimposed over the Kojima Productions logo. We've got over 91 hours left on the countdown but for now, it seems as if the premature announcement is a game called Mask, although we get the feeling there may be more to it. Up until now, all speculation and supposed translation with a recent Kojima interview can't be counted upon, so we're only relying on this new development. Does it have anything to do with the famed Metal Gear Solid franchise? If not, what was the point of that clearly MGS-themed pic of what seemed to be Big Boss? And what about all this talk concerning Raiden and Sunny? There are plenty of questions that don't yet have answers but right now, we've got one image that's taxing our brains...

So, what is Mask? Is that the name of Kojima's new game? Is it just a codename of sorts? And can you spot anything in that picture you might consider familiar?

I doubt Kojima would do this, but if he is using MGS to create hype for this new IP, i'm gonna be so angry.

Spend a few minutes and watch the teaser.

There are TWO different faces in the sequence and they appear at random (seemingly) amidst a string of characters;

CROCEPOSSR3[face]e6[face]
SOE3ESPC[face]R6[face]PS[face]CEO3

The 'S' and a '5' are interchangeable in the character set used, I can not see a pattern, but there are TWO faces.

If you wait long enough. (I waited for like 10 minutes because I am like that), you can see Raiden's face on the left side of the screen, and it pops up similar to how Big Boss' does. He has his ninja suit on as in MGS4, so it doesn't look too much like a prequel... I don't know what to make of it..

There's also debris falling down in the background behind the rain every so often.

And speaking of rain,.....I can't see Kojima making that rain looking so amateurish, it's got to be something else.
So after I watched the rain & nothing else for a while, and it actually began to look as if it's really someone's hair that's flowing in a breeze.

I saw what looked like a "!" fall in the rain. One of those glitch looking things. But I have an idea.

Snake is BB's clone/son. Well wouldn't the timeline sorta fit for Raiden to be a clone and/or son of Grey Fox? Grey Fox was a ninja/assassin/stealth soldier and basically BB's protoge. This could be a sequel/prequel involving BB and GF in the early days of FOXHOUND, while BB was in the planning stages for Outer Heaven. That would explain the patch on his hat there. Maybe it's a little far-fetched, but it's a game I'd like to see.

I DO BELIEVE...the mask in the bottom corner is actually to lead you to his other project, but the teaser site is still MGS forsure...

idk if yall are getting a glimpse but right at the 1st flash for raiden there is a picture of somthing idk i only got the flash once...

and Ben your getting side tracked this is where kojima can trick you putting his logo in the bottom corner making you look at another...

I've seen 3s 6s and a 0 among every other letter and number everyone else's seen along with what appears to be big boss and raiden. Being that raiden was the lead in mgs2 and big boss in 3 maybe they're remaking those for 360. hopefully along with mgs 5 for the ps3. I just don't see them taking a step back technologically for the next installment, but to remake the older of the series could possibly improve the older games and get them a new fan base for when they are able to make it multiplat without drastic differences between console versions (probably not till xbox720)or dumbing down the next version.

Pretty sure i saw a '6 & 8 or 0 in there,the stuff falling out of the sky kinda looked like a flag the samurai carried into battle on their backs(japanese were the first race to use flags to show what province they were from)but it could be something else,also saw what looks like swords falling out of the sky or just appearing,now the pics of raiden & big boss start to fluctuate just before they disappear,i know raidens new but did the big boss pic do this when the site updated on tuesday just gone??? i cant remember.

i think this could be two games guys,both directed by kojima-san.
He's a legend in his own lunchtime !!!

The last time Big Boss and Raiden were linked together was during the E3 2005 footage.

Remember how Raiden went back to the past to try and eliminate Big Boss ala 'The Terminator' so that he can get the main character's role in MGS4?? This teaser might actually indicate that a game involving THAT trailer may be in the works!

I think that fake looking rain is actually super-imposed hair of that face coming out once in a while on the left side(as you would see him from his right side).

I doubt Kojima is using MGS as advertising for his new IP, it just doesn't make sense. There's clearly two games here, one of them is an obvious new Metal Gear while the other I'm not sure of (Lord of Shadows?).

Seriously, this image of Raiden, i think its Gray Fox. Gray Fox looses his left eye in Metal Gear Solid during the last battle with Liquid Snake and Metal Gear Rex. Remember? theres no other explination as to why Big Boss and Raiden would apear together unless Kojima is making 2 seperate games that take place in two difference places in the time line. Plus Raiden never lost his eye at any point. Either way im stoked!

Konami is also responsible for Pro evolution soccer.

The first string of characters I saw (and wrote down) is an anagram of PRO SOCCER In fact PES is also an abbreviation for Pro Evolution Soccer.

Is it possible that were seeing a totally misleading teaser?

There should be a new version of PES for the autumn, and a teaser now would make sense, though why Kojima would be involved and what are characters from MGS doing in the trailer?

Perhaps we are thinking too much into this with too narrow a scope. What if this teaser is a teaser for Konami's coming line up of games, and instead of just one game by Kojima, the site is teasing a whole range of Konami games?

I would too, that's why I think the trailer isn't for one game alone, I think it's Konami's E3 build up, so think in terms of all their upcoming games.

And I think that that stormy place in teaser symbolize Outer Heaven.
The guy who looks like Raiden is a Gray Fox, becasue of one detail, this guy (Gray Fox) has a lightbrown (something liketaht) eye, but Raiden has a blue eyes.

okay... i looked at the pics a little closer and this is what i came up with...

1. "Raiden's" eye is amber in the picture, but in mgs4 his eyes are clearly a bluish color.

2. "Big Boss'" beret is tilted in the opposite direction as in the end of mgs4.

3. Also "Big Boss'" mustache does not connect with his beard like in mgs4. minimal, but its something.

4. "Big Boss'" patch says 'MILITARES SANS FRONTIERES" (Military Without Borders)

what can we make of this??? (i'm probably missing a few things on raiden)

Its not a Raiden its a Gray Fox(Cyborg Ninja). Look at his forehead he got there a bar code. Raiden hadn´t it and the hairs are gold-blonde.
