SCEA: Sony E3 Press Conference Viewable In Home

These days, there are any number of reasons to jump into the PlayStation Home service; we've already seen a myriad of updates and enhancements.

But here's another little bonus: most of you won't be able to watch Sony's E3 press conference on Tuesday, simply because you ain't invited to the show. However, there are multiple ways of viewing it live around the Internet and perhaps best of all, SCEA has just confirmed that the conference will be viewable from within Home! Sony's James Gallagher confirmed as much over at the official EU PlayStation Blog, where he posted up a comment to an E3 article. The conference can be seen at a new space inside the online social community; it'll be called the "Presentation Podium." Sure, you can go watch it all by your lonesome over at GameSpot or something, but isn't it much more fun to gather with fellow gamers and friends and watch the big announcements roll out? Won't it just be downright hilarious to see the virtual reaction of hundreds of people when Sony reveals an official release date for God of War III? Of course, you could just keep your eyes glued to PSX Extreme, where we will be tossing up the relevant news articles minutes after the info has escaped a speaker's lips. Up to you.

Anyway, these days, online communication has advanced to the point where just about everyone can get in on the fun. And it makes perfect sense for Home users to be able to see this important conference.

Excellent! Thanks Ben, I'd asked about this in a previous comments section, but I think it feel off the current page so quickly you may have missed it. I had an inkling this might be the case, it's exactly what Home is designed for = multi-casting.

Thanks Ben, and lame... :(

I will be at jury duty, and I doubt they will have wifi so I can pick it up on my ipod touch. Oh well, every site will have a downloadable version that I can watch later.

Yeah, the time is the big factor here. If it happens during daytime hours, then unfortunately I'm at work and I can't necessarily make it on to my PS3. I'm not really sure I'd go on Home to see all the E3 updates, anyway. I went on there the other day and it was running slower than paint drying. I don't exactly have the patience for it.

I usually watch G4 for E3 stuff but I might drop in at Home first to see if it's watchable and if it's good quality.

I'm unemployed at the moment, so I'll be there. I'll be the guy doing the running man dance.

Will G4 have live coverage? If so I might watch it there, even though I am not a fan of G4. Sessler and Morgan are ok, but I can't stand the other two.

Has anyone been in the Presentation Podium yet? The giant video screen is streaming the content, and needs to buffer every 10 seconds, even with my supposedly blazing fast internet connection. I'll be there, but I'm betting that the live feed will be mostly unwatchable.

I didn't have that problem when I was there, but I wouldn't be surprised.

There was a brief initial load, though.

Unfortunately this year I'll be at work during the press conferences and have it recording on DVR. I'd probably watch it live from Home as long as the servers stay stable. I was on the other night and played around a little checking out the new spaces and Xi(spelling?). Everything ran smoothly when I was on. I missed out on that free apartment, went on the 21st around 9 am EST and it wasn't available any more.

I like the idea of the press conference being shown live on Home and I will probably watch it from there. I just hope the teenage boys in wifebeaters playing hooky and the teenage girl avatars in their short shorts will behave in a civil manner. Fat chance!

I'll be also watching the Nintendo conference, too, to catch the hilarity of Reggie, Satoru and Cammie. M$? They are an afterthought. I'll pass.

I second that, it seems that it will be streamed two hours after it happens so yeah G4 it is.
