Advent Children PS3 Bundle Hits GameStop Next Week

Uh-oh...look what Sony and Square-Enix went and did. They went and made a very attractive PlayStation 3 bundle that, while not yet confirmed, is gonna appeal to a wide variety of consumers who love the idea of getting a Blu-Ray movie for free.

This here is a picture of the new PS3 bundle that, according to Kotaku, has already started arriving at select GameStop locations. It's simple really: buy a PS3, get the Blu-Ray edition of "Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children" tossed in for no additional charge ($399). Nothing else has changed; that's still the 80GB machine, but the addition of "Advent Children" should be enough to tempt many a prospective PS3 owner. However, you may have to move fast: it seems this is a "one time only pack-in" so once it's gone, it's gone. The day of reckoning is Tuesday, June 2 - coincidentally, the same day as Sony's E3 press conference and the street date for the movie - so if you haven't yet picked up Sony's console, next week may be the time. Furthermore, this seems exclusive to GameStop, but Kotaku mentions that Best Buy may be getting a bundle offer of their own, so stay tuned for more details when and if they become available.

Sony appears to be pulling out all the stops in terms of console promotion these days; the bundles have been frequent and typically well-received. Is this the one to finally coerce you into a purchase?

It's not very attractive if it doesn't include the FFXIII demo with Advent Children .

This is Sony's way of clearing the shelves for the new slimline that is coming out in August. Just going with what other sites have reported, I didn't make this up. Amazon, Fry's, and Target have all offered a free controller with purchase of a PS3. Also Dell Home has the 160 GIG system for $399 with free shipping.

Hell, if Sony needs to unload the PS2 fattys for shelf space for incoming slim's, they should just give you an "instant voucher" with your purchase, that way you can pick your own game of choice right then & there.

Can you hear the sales registers ringing there, Sony??????

I wonder how well this will sell considering that Dell has had the 160GB version w/ Uncharted on sale for $399 (ends up being about $327 or $357) this past week.

nah. just give me the advent children with FFVII on blu-ray with hd optimization and i'll buy. but square has been money-grubbing lately, so they'll probably want to release FFVII on XBL first. f'em!

Hey guys remember we can't get the FFXIII demo because it'd be soooooooooooooooooooooo UNFAIR to the other people that don't want to get a PS3 and still get that game. GOD DON'T YOU GUYS HAVE ANY MORALS - SHAME ON YOU!!!

*rolls eyes*

Well...ok, it sounds like an ok bundle - but the whole NO BACKWARDS COMPATIBILITY thing is NOT DOING IT FOR ME...NOT AT ALL. I'm still going for an MGS 4 80gb bundle. The best of the best. But although as an FF fan...I want it. I'll just get an imported version though.

Just imagine the sales if the Advent Children Blu-ray had the demo. The bundles would be selling like hot cakes. I'm sure it would have more than made up for the cost of adding English subtitles to the demo.

our version of AC:C should come with a voucher for FFVII on the store :P It just got rated by the ESRB to be released ... hopefully soon. Perhaps in time for Sony's E3 conference?
