E3 2009: Final Fantasy XIV Footage, Exclusive To PS3!
Square-Enix dropped the bombshell at last year's E3 by announcing Final Fantasy XIII for the Xbox 360. But they had a little something else up their sleeve this year, and you had best prepare yourselves.
After showing off a drool-worthy video of Final Fantasy XIII - GOD, we want that soooo bad - Jack Tretton made the single biggest announcement of the conference thus far: he showed off the first footage ever of Final Fantasy XIV and...oh dear Lord...it'll be exclusive to the PlayStation 3! Now, it did say it would be online and we don't know if it'll be entirely online like Final Fantasy XI, but based on the trailer, it almost seems unlikely. We saw a lot of what appeared to be cut-scenes and non-interactive footage, so we'd like to think it will feature a single-player quest. It did say it'll launch in late 2010, though, which makes us think FFXIV will be a more online-oriented title that might even hit store shelves close alongside FFXIII. But either way, this is absolutely gigantic and will certainly kick off a firestorm of discussion and conversation. Who said Square-Enix is ignoring PS3 owners? ...oh, wait, we did. Well, they were, but perhaps they're making up for it entirely with this new announcement, and we can guarantee we'll be seeking more details ASAP. ...my fingers are actually shaking.
Okay, that's that. We move right along to Sony's new motion-sensing technology, which actually appears more advanced than what Microsoft revealed yesterday...
