Kojima Not Directing Rising, Only "Fully Involved" With PSP MGS
We get the feeling that Konami and Hideo Kojima have been at odds concerning targeted platforms. Something tells us that Konami has been begging Kojima to bring his famed Metal Gear Solid franchise to the Xbox 360, despite the boss' protests.
Kojima has said many times in the past that he wants to stick with the PlayStation platform for this legendary titles, and the latest bit of info may hint at his belief. As you know by now, Metal Gear Solid: Rising has been announced for the Xbox 360 and PS3, and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker was revealed yesterday for the PSP. Now, according to GameZine, which cited a recent Famitsu interview, Kojima won't be directing Rising and he's concentrating on Peace Walker. He said he's only "fully involved" with the PSP game, where he's acting as "director, producer and game designer" and actually calls Peace Walker the "Metal Gear Solid 5 inside me." As for Rising, he said:
"I'm not the director. I'm not doing game design either. Although, I do issue complaints (laughs). But, not too much."
This may be an indication of Kojima's loyalty to Sony, despite the current times dictating a necessary shift for Konami. One can interpret this in a variety of ways but it's easy to come to such a conclusion, given Kojima's history. Well, what do you think?

I mean I looked at his body language at M$ and I swear he looked nervous and that he really just wanted to leave the freaking NEON GREEN FU**ING STAGE. (Did anyone notice how it didn't match his suit?)
But suddenly PS3 owners and PS lovers all over the world and PS fanboys started cursing Kojima for "betraying" them...I knew in my heart that Kojima didn't do a thing to betray us in ANY FU**ING WAY.
Then at Sony's press conference we saw him talk about MGS: Peace Walker...and he assured us so many times that this isn't A SPIN-OFF. Now...hmm...why would he say something like that?!?! Then he assured he would be writing the script, directing it, and basically having the MGS 4 team work on it. Oh wow...what was he trying to say through all of this???? THAT HIS FULL HEART IS IN THIS PROJECT: PEACE WALKER!!! And I fucking noticed it.
Did anyone see an actual classic MGS trailer for MGS: RISING?! NO!!!!! It was just a dumb CGI still photo with Raiden in it. But Kojima showed us actual gameplay, real-time footage, gave us a lot of info on what this is and is solely making this for the PlayStation family? WHY?!?!? Because this is the game that is the "missing link." This shows Big Boss actually making Outer Haven. HOW FUCKING SICK IS THAT?!
And to all of you who still think Kojima betrayed us: You're a moron, go play all the MGS games again if you haven't burned them already. If you have burned them: you're a dumbass and should buy them again at full retail price of when it originally released. Then after you're done playing through all of them - buy MGS: Peace walker. If you don't have a PSP get one and buy it.
KOJIMA-SAMA YOU'RE AMAZING!!!!!

Oh well I'm not sure whether or not there were people here cursing Kojima-sama and I'm pretty sure there weren't - but back in the PlayStation forums (www.boardsus.playstation.com) - oh boy...it's like people wanted to commit suicide and sh**. It was ridiculous. I wanted to make a thread and actually tell them how he didn't betray us at all and that he'll surprise us at Sony's E3.
Some people understood...the rest are still blind.

Sony's motion control system is also interesting and will surely spice things up... it may even be better in the end to hold and feel something in your hand rather than nothing at all... but the Milo demo proves that M$ my have the ultimate system for true virtual reality interaction... don't rubbish it so soon... you will be surprised what they will do with it...
...and yes, "MGS Peace Walker" will finally convince me to purchase a PSP, but not the Go!

You could tell he was really pissed off,as if it was discussed back stage and the microdouche tried to slime it out at the last second before it went to the trailer.
I hope to god that this new mask? game is PS3 exclusive and MGSR was to shut M$ up about MGS4.
Speaking of MGSR,at the end of the trailer it said 'SNEAK IN",could their be a stealth element after all?? if so it could be a great game,i mean i'll play it anyway,it is a MGS game after all.
As for peace walker,i'm sold mofo's :)

The new mask game is Castlevania: Lord of Shadows. It's being make by Spanish developer, "Mercurysteam", which is being guided & helped along by Kojima.
It's going to come out for both, the PS3 & the360, but I'm guessing that the only reason that 360's even getting it too, is because Kojima's not developing the game himself.

I feel like its going to be like Ninja Gaiden perhaps better but Konami really need to put the name of this franchise in this type of game? I think this was just to please Microsoft.

commercialisation...is what brings things down.
Kojima needs to be stronger! otherwise, MGS will end up milked beyond belief and the only thing he is remembered for in gaming!
Do your own thing Kojima, don't listen to the thief.

It was friggin obvious IMO. At the MS conference he talked about the franchise in his broken english and then at Sony he brought out his translator and talked about the game.

The exchange he had with the MS guy was clearly massively scripted.. almost to the point of embarassment.
Watch it back, it sets up the trailer perfectly!
Also, those claiming that MS are only getting metal gear spinoffs are also choosing what they want to hear. We need to talk in facts here.
Kojimas actual words... verbatim were....
"It is my pleasure to announce that I am bringing the Metal gear SOLID franchise to Xbox 360, And I can confirm that the next major release will be called Metal Gear Rising."

We already discussed this, the "Solid" in Metal Gear Solid doesn't mean Snake. Go back and crawl into your toasty system and complain somewhere else. The only positive comment I remember seeing from you is the fact that you and the other guy loved that little boy in the M$ conference.

Before people explode I'm not hating on MGS, the series just doesn't usually interest me. That's why I wanted Kojima to do a new IP.

After spending SO MUCH TIME on PS3 development, I'm sure this is a much easier project as compared to his last one. Expectations are also lower. Seriously...how do you live up to or possibly exceed a game like "Metal Gear Solid 4"?
Peace Walker totally justifies my purchase of a PSP. Just got a 2000 a few weeks ago for REALLY CHEAP. I'm a very happy gamer.

I forget where I read it(I was all over the net checking out all the E3 stuff), but in an Kojima interview yesterday, he said that he was leaving the Raiden game to his younger-hipper members in his company.
And he also said that the game would be the start of taking the whole Metal Gear franchise storyline completly in a new direction with other main characters(meaning no more Snake).

"the metal gear franchise has come to the 360"
in the form of a spinoff that hes not even working on. I bet you the next Metal to hit PS3 will not be on the 360. This Rising games is going to be only a quater of the size and greatness MGS4 was.

GO BUY YOURSELF A FRIGGING CLUE!!!!
Kojima doesn't like MS, & it was ONLY because of Konami pressuring him on Raiden.
That's why he's not doing it himself, & he's tossed it over to one of his newest, youngest teams
Stop being such a MS fanboy & try enjoying your PS3 enough that some day, you'll actually like it, and this site.
I'm starting to seriously think that by all your MS nonsense, that you own a whole lot of BS, and not any PS.
All you want to do is chat down the PS3 & games almost every single chance you get, and then keep showinging us all how you bow down to praise MS, with your constant "Oh hail to the mighty Red Ring of Death" in almost every single post.
And we're all pretty f*cking tired of hearing your crybaby bitchin & moaning about the PS3(AT LEAST I AM), so either straighten the F*ck up while you're here, or just STFU & if you don't like it, don't let the door hit you in your ass.
And if so, don't go crying, just go away, period!

But, I'm not sure if he or Konami owns the MS franchise rights. If Kojima does, then I'm sure he'd be wearing all the hats, as producer, writer, director, & developer.
And I know he'd do a much better job with every game, without the stress & aggravation of Konami meddling with his games.
I've got a distinct feeling that Kojima is fed up with Konami, and has already been testing the water's to see if he can go it on his own in the future.
And I think this is exactly why Kojima has reached out to guide & help on Spanish developer "Mercurysteam", with their new
"Castlevania:Lost in Shadows" game.

Regardless of the role Kojima plays in this you still have an extremely talented team that know what they are doing.
Hell, having less Kojima on this might even benefit a lot of 360 owners because of Kojima's knack for ridiculously long cutscenes.
I just find it sad that we are in the middle of the biggest video game conference in the world and PS3 fanboy sites are doing whatever they can to spin people in another direction after being so butthurt by a MS announcement.
Regardless of how this turns out it is likely to sell extremely well given its multiplatform status. It will be hard to turn back and cut your potential revenue in half. Money talks

I think Sony should sign him up and give him the money and support for him to do what he wants. Sony allows gives their studios the freedom to do what they want. Could Konjima bring Metal Gear Solid over under Sony's wing, or has Konami got full rights over the franchise?
