Final Fantasy Tactics Set For US PSN?
Okay, so Final Fantasy VII may be the biggest recent release to hit the PlayStation Store in digital download form, but yet another title from that legendary franchise may soon be headed to the PSN...
As you can see by this ESRB listing, it's Final Fantasy Tactics. Typically, when a game pops up on the ESRB radar - especially one that's over a decade old - it means it will enjoy a re-release of sorts on the Network or Xbox Live Marketplace. We believe FFT is already on the Japanese Store, but we can't be sure... Anyway, for those of you who are unfamiliar, FFT is a strategy/RPG that utilized the now-archaic turn-based mechanic, but is arguably the most accomplished title of its kind. Featuring the Job class system that allowed for almost infinite possibilities and a fantastic storyline (despite an occasionally wonky translation), FFT is a favorite amongst old-school strat/RPG fans, and it will make for an excellent addition to the PS1 downloadable classic collection on the PSN. Perhaps it won't be long before all of Squaresoft's gems will be available; you know Final Fantasy VIII, Final Fantasy IX, Vagrant Story, Chrono Cross, Xenogears, Legend of Mana, Brave Fencer Musashi, Threads of Fate, etc. It would give modern gamers the chance to see a very different Square (from a time when it could do no wrong), and give veteran gamers the chance to reminisce. Yep, Squaresoft really was that good in the late '90s.
For my part, I think most all loyal PSXE readers are aware of my love of FFT. Hence, if any of you don't currently own the game and also opt to pass on a downloadable version, I will find you and do bad things. ...you can save us both a lot of time and unnecessary pain if you simply do the right thing...

How is Prototype anyway? It's either that or Ghostbuters for me, can't afford both. But I have played and finished inFamous so I'm leaning toward Ghostbusters... Kinda hoping I can see a review from PSXE first.
@Zemus101
Heck yeah its a big bonus. It sure beats the $65 Buy It Now price I was about the spend on e-bay to get another copy.

1) they do realize the user base of playstation as their strongest sales point, then they start pushing for more PS instead of 360
2) they do realize it, but they continue their stupid idea of 360 is where its at for RPGs and that most 360 fans actually care about FF they way PS owners do
(maybe a few do, but not large scale)
or
3) they don't realize it because they have become blinded after "The Merger"....
the event where the games that came afterward just weren't as great as the squaresoft days
(granted not all of them were affected, like KH2 and MAYBE FF12)

As far as graphics the PSP screen makes for a better looking game. It's only 10 dollars, find out for yourself!

Back to games: Get the UMDs version of FFT. I can agree sometimes that Square Milks it but War of the Lions was made for the fans.

I would however LOVE to be able to buy some other games that you mentioned. I played the demo for Xenogears and I remember liking it. Umm.. I have not played Vagrant Story but I remember reading up about it (when we used to buy gaming magazines, remember those days? ...what? they still sell those? ....why?)
So glad that I still have access to the PSN through my PSP though, since my PS3 is on the fritz. For anyone that is curious (in a similar situation maybe) here in Canada it'll cost me about $169 as per a Sony email I received about my issue. Apparently (from what I've read on forums) umm... Sony sends you a box and everything that will be needed to send it away to Sony to get fixed up (or have a new or refurbished system sent out)
