Midway Newcastle's Last Ditch Effort: Necessary Force
To get you all caught up, Warner Bros. rescued Midway (or, to be more specific, parts of Midway), which meant that several splinter studios were still left dangling.
One of them was Midway Newcastle, a developer that still needs a buyer...and they must be a bit desperate, considering they'll be forced to close down entirely in less than two weeks. Therefore, in what seems to be an attempt to spur things along, Midway Newcastle has revealed Necessary Force, a new IP that has been labeled as a "gritty detective drama." You can view the trailer at the game's official site, and we have to admit, it looks intriguing. But is it intriguing enough to entice one of the big boys to snap up Newcastle and the project, all in one fell swoop? Or are we looking at another title that simply won't make it to the production phase? The problem with that video is there is no gameplay to be seen, so it's difficult to estimate how far along Necessary Force is in the development process. Obviously, whoever might be interested in the purchase will want to know the specifics, and that's when it's do-or-die time for Midway Newcastle. Cross your fingers!
We'll let you know what happens. Hopefully, some good-sized company will pick up the estranged studio, and Necessary Force will be designated a "go project." At that point, we're certain we'll see all sorts of info and details.

I would imagine though, that to be picked up it would have to be near completed and near perfect otherwise in this climate of intense competition what distributor will risk their money?

If this is a Beat 'em Up then I'm definitely interested!
Love the environments, they look very rough and engaging.
NOw give us 15 thugs at a time (and make it co-op) and then we're talking!
Beating up criminals alone = fun
Beating up criminals with 2 or more friends = epic!
