Sony Offers More Motion Sensing Technology Info
Sony really wants developers to step up and deliver some interesting software for their new motion sensing technology. They also have a few new details for us.
According to Kotaku, this new technology, fueled by the new and drastically improved PlayStation Eye, is set to launch next spring, along "with a range of first-party and third-party content." They also say that most "any game," ranging from the most casual to the hardcore, has potential when combined with their promising motion sensing technology. The Eye accessory itself will actually come with a force feedback rumble and as an added bonus, Sony boasts that this controller will "work in tandem with the Eye's built-in microphone array for voice input and voice recognition." The only significant drawback at this point centers on the added power cost of the wand controller, but Sony says that they'll work to minimize the impact on SPU overhead and memory. Finally, there's the distinct possibility of combining the current Dual Shock 3 controller with the wand; there was the example of having the wand act like a sword and the DS act like a shield. That's kinda cool in our eyes, and we certainly remember how impressive the technology was during Sony's E3 press conference. We gotta try that.
We don't yet have an exact launch date and price for this nifty new accessory but we'll give you that info as soon as we get it.

You could use this in say ...an online version of Oblivion (my favorite example) and then use the microphone to talk back and forth between your partner, or maybe command a pet with your voice while you're swinging away with a weapon, you know? I think I would actually enjoy some really cool "inventive" type PSN games like Flower and such. Even though they are a bit more casual. Just as long as I don't have to get up and jump around :P That's not why 90% (just made that statistic up on the spot) play games...
